15ème anniversary and nothing special's coming up? no new song or anything?

does anybody know how many people fit in that paticular live house? do they sell tickets like they used to? I've been wondering how well he canactually live of that, they basically lost most, if not all, of their following abroad, at least in Europe that is, propably the same for the US I guess? Moi-même-moitié propably doesn't earn him like it used to either. Maybe the few left are super hardcore fans with lots of money to burn , but even then there's not exactly much to buy, is there? there hasn't been a new album in how many years?
well he might still live comfortably off all that Malice Mizer money, or so I like to think.

Maybe he has other sources of income... rental properties or the like. Last album was D+SECT in 2010, Reprise was in 2012.

What is the Europe following like? I don't think there ever was a following here in Australia...

Can you imagine having Mana as your landlord?
::mana:: "Late rent = DEATH"

My personal theory (which is completely unsubstantiated) is that now that Yukie Itoh is out of the picture Mana has no one to foot the bill for his band shenanigans. Maybe he even had to get some sort of real job.

What is the Europe following like?
I'll leave it to an actual European to speak in detail, but M10M was fairly big for a while there - they released Euro pressings of a few albums (and Malice Mizer's "bara no seidou"), did those live tours, and so on. Even had an international fan club... kind of ::meev:: For a while, the Japanese fans were actually angry about Mana paying too much attention to Europe that "should have been" going to them.

I've been wondering how well he can actually live of that
Yeah, I'm pretty sure M10M isn't anyone's full-time job, not anymore. All the project members seem to have other bands and stuff going on now.
It does seem like it's down to a core of long-timers, doesn't it?

From what has been said at the concert and from band members there will be a new album and things are planned for both that anniversary and for Mana's 25th anniversary in music.

they used to be quite big, nothing close to mainstream success obviously - they managed to appeal both to the lets viskei fandom as well as to classic goth audiences (which are huge in Germany), other than most Japanese bands with Visual Kei Background they weren't signed by a label that specified in Visual Kei releases, but a regular Goth label. They were featured regularly goth magazines and even managed to get on TV

which then propably let them to overestimate demand, they had to cancel several dates of their 2007 tour and never have returned since, D+sect and Reprise didn't see an European release either

They have been doing mini-Malice Mizer reunions every couple of years at their Deep Sanctuary concerts. Yu~ki doesn't seem to want to do more than that and both Mana and Kozi have their own things they have been doing so it's not likely Malice Mizer would take precedence over their current work.

Plus the whole matter of a vocalist... They don't really seem to do many vocally demanding songs at the reunion shows.

It was kind of hard to hear Yu~ki singing Transylvania but Kozi was better than I thought he would be. Although if they ever did a full come back they really could use a good singer with a flare for dramatics. I don't think it will happen.

tonight though the thing to shout was no less than "sexy, pretty, angel Mana sama", with movements to it....yes, that's how far from the darkness we have gone.
Hate to break it to you, but Mana was always a dork, he just wears it more openly now
It definitely seems like Mana's doing a lot more of that fan appreciation kind of stuff lately though, and I know what you mean about being disappointed. Like, that sort of "breaking character" is probably fun for someone who's already seen them in-character a million times, but if you aren't part of the Japanese fanbase who's been going twice a year for the past decade, that's another story. This is yet another reason I hope Mana starts seriously trying to expand his fanbase again.

Thanks for the report :D

Heh...yeah....the sexy pretty angel Mana-sama thing was a Malice Mizer thing though, no?
Seems he's been nerding it for decades. I snorted too when I read about you guys having to do that.

I think, to someone who's not fluent in English, it seems a lot less nerd. Maybe?

Yeah, I believe so.

I wasn't sure if I was laughing at him, or laughing with him, it was hilarious.

Has anyone been translating the latest tweets? Seems he has been talking about some of the tech he used over the years, which is interesting to me.

It's analog recording equipment, DAT cassette recorders and then VHS. Pre-computer. Back when recording meant bouncing tracks to make room to record more. Something like this for the VHS.
