Downloads Forum

This is the thread for requesting access to the download forum. We've decided that this resource is really meant for productive, contributing members of the -scape- community, so we've established some minimal entry requirements. To access the download forum you must either:

- Have at least 50 posts
- Or have out-of-print material you wish to contribute

If you meet one of these criteria and want permission to access the download forum, please post here and we will give you access. I have already given access to all users with 50+ posts as of now, but I may have missed some.

Feedback about this decision is also welcome.

Nice move. The only drawback to this is that we may get some members who will join and make pointless and irrelevant posts/spam only to be able to access the forum... :?

hmm. maybe flowers or navate could view all their posts once they want access to the download page and make the decision based off that?

It's cool that you decided to do that, flowers... I think I might've originally joiend for the downloads (but obviously stuck around regardless), so I know it happens.

I think this is a great idea! ^_^ However, I think you should bump the post requirement to 75 or 100. Sharing files is a privilage to those who use this board, so it should really be earned. Even though this excludes me from the d/l board if those where the rules, I wouldn't mind. Besides, if you're a regular poster, what's a 100 posts?

I chose 50 posts because we have a few long-time and/or semi-regular members who are still under 100 posts. Also I'm not too concerned about keeping "noobs" in general out; the only problem we're trying to solve is people who sign up JUST for the downloads. So a high bar isn't necessary.
