Do all those pieces like the collar and whatnot come with it?

Yeah what you see is what you get, the collar is attached to the garment like a long sleeve, folds over itself and buttons up. The two chains are in a small bag attached to the tag, there is a guide on the MmM webstore but I can't make sense of what is going on in step 3.

One of my co-workers speaks Chinese, but I can't see anything on the weibo link about the event.

Anyone have any idea what this is about? Mana was selling his goods in Shanghai yesterday?
https://twitter.com/M_d_M_official/status/915443296108929026

Seems like a lot of big lolita brands were there. No clue if Mana himself is there or what.

Don't think so since he was on Twitter yesterday and also did a short blog post about the secret performance in November. If he was in China he probably would have mentioned it. Weibo is like Taobao and actually Alibaba owns a share of Weibo. Online selling and events. Most likely contracted with them like he did with Wunderwelt. Sends goods, they sell them. Mana tweeted about it before.

Can't open it either but could otherwise translate. But I also think it's no more than a link to some shopping site. The event was just about selling some pieces and exhibit future releases? At least that's what i got from the Katakana and Kanji, but since I don't actually speak Japanese I might have missed something.

Huh, so in other words it's those "Wunderwelt" people. I guess that's not surprising since he's already been working with them.
It's too bad that Mana has to give up ownership, but hopefully the new management will invest in the business and help him create higher-quality stuff in the future.

I hope so. I had a feeling that he was doing a lot of the work up till now. It might be why he was selling older samples also. It's hard selling clothing and things have changed a lot in the industry. Even bigger Japanese designers had to change how they were doing business. I hope he will still be involved with designing.

I'm also thinking that in part it could be so he can devote himself to getting Moi dix Mois going again. They were saying things about a tour and more and they have been recording. I'm going to hope for the best for them all.

I wonder what happens to the Moi-même-Moitié store now.
Also, there can't be a whole lot of stock left over from the summer sale either, can there?

That, and I wonder what will happen to Maglaia now too.

If I understand this right, Midi:Nette was changed to Maglaia so that would include recording. I would guess the reason the name Midi:Nette is still around is because the older recordings, Malice Mizer stuff and the internet addresses are still under that name. No idea what will happen with the websites. I'm sure if they change Mana will write about it.

I noticed WunderWelt had a lot of newer Moi meme Moitie for a few months now. I would guess that CDJapan might not carry it any more with this change.

editing because I just looked at the Moi-même-Moitié website. There is a notice there too, mostly the same language as in his blog. It does refer to WunderWelt handling things so maybe they will take over the website also. What would be great is if overseas could start ordering from the website directly. It would be so much more easier.

Turns out there is more information on the Moi-même-Moitié store page -

Notice regarding business transfer of Gothic Lolita brand Moi-même-Moitié

TANAQRO. Co., Ltd., which also runs Wunderwelt online shop,
agreed with Maglaia Co., Ltd. on a business transfer of Gothic Lolita brand Moi-même-Moitié.

In order to realize Moi-même-Moitié‘s worldwide expansion, the brand will make the best use of TANAQRO’s experience with providing service to global users.
The business transfer was decided upon with the aim to revitalize the brand.

Actually, do we even know that? Maybe they both still exist. Completely baseless speculation here, but I wonder if Mana made Midi:Nette into a holding company to collect revenues on his back catalog, and moved all his new/ongoing business into Maglaia, so that if Maglaia goes under he could declare bankruptcy there without selling off the Malice Mizer/M10M rights.
I looked around a bit but couldn't find any free resources for looking up Japanese corporate info online.

There was something on one of the websites about the change to Maglaia. I don't remember which one had it. I think your description of the situation of a holding company or something like that which still functions with the name Midi:Nette is probably correct since he still has say so over the use of Malice Mizer visuals.

I am not sure this is a good sign... :( Typically, this kind of situation happens when the critical point has been reached... I hope for Mana that it will be conclusive for himself and his brand.

For Midi:Nette... it's a kind of secret. If any album will be released we may have some clue (even if it was already the case for reprise <- Maglaia). The only good point is: as long as the name starts with a "M", it is good for mister M himself xD

A good number of Japanese fashion designers have had to change the way they do business to keep getting sales. Because lolita has become a world wide fashion, there has been a bigger push to sell overseas. It's not easy to do. Even h.NAOTO changed everything, from having only limited retail space (I miss their stores) and also redid their online sites for selling overseas. It's always been difficult for Moi-même-Moitié to sell overseas even though there has always been a demand. So in that light it could be good that a company with the ability to access the world market plus is versed in EGL will be handling things.

I would guess it wasn't an easy decision. But it probably took a lot of pressure off too.

I'm not into Moité so this might be completely wrong, BUT seeing how Mana's and Moi Dix Mois fanbase has shrunk I bet his clothes doesn't sell that much either. Most, almost exclusively everyone who buys MmM is into Mana, so it's only natural I guess. I feel like this is a bit too late. The demand for Japanese popularculture is less in the west compared to 10 years ago. Reading about the transfer I see it as a last resort because sales in Japan is so bad they now have to make the market more open to overseas customers, or shut it down.

Spin your negatives into positives!

I don’t know if the brand will feel as ‘special’, if it isn’t total produce by Mana様.

But hey, at least something is happening!
