Hello there!
For the longest time I thought the Bara no Konrei movie only released on DVD, never VHS.
That is because in the sections of the site it is only written as a DVD, but not a VHS.
But recently I was browsing the stores, and I found a VHS copy of the movie, which confused me!

This could confuse other people, so could an admin add info of the VHS release? Thanks!
I'm curious if it comes with a case, or pictures, or if there is a first press or not.
EDIT: And I see there's two different covers versions, this confuses me too!

Are you sure you're not getting 薔薇の婚礼 and 薔薇の伝承 confused?

薔薇の婚礼 is the main film, 薔薇の伝承 was a 'teaser'/prologue/making-of/digest chimera of the film.

Both were released on DVD and VHS and as far as I am aware, contain the same footage unlike the 薔薇に彩られた悪意と悲劇の幕開け live, which had different special features for the VHS and DVD versions.

Nope! Here are two images found on two different auctions with a weird cover VHS:

That is an ex-rental copy, so it is a rental variation.

The retail looks like this.

Aaah thanks.
So it was made for VHS rental stores? Like "blockbuster" back in the day, but in Japan?
Seems logical then. But can I get a confirmation? Thanks!

And was there a first press of the retail version? Also with pendant, or a case?

Yes, exactly. I'm not sure where the first one is from, but the second is from TSUTAYA (I can tell from the yellow tag at the top).

'RENTAL ONLY' is written on the spine, the barcodes on the tape and the TSUTAYA tag on the second image are a giveaway.

A crucifix.

No special packaging, it was just included in a little plastic bag.

As for other 薔薇の婚礼 goods, there was a very limited series of 4 or 5 posters released and a pamphlet promoting the film. I've only ever seen one of the posters for sale and the pamphlet isn't too hard to find.

catalog number
KSXD-24319

It was released by KSS and that seems to be the DVD code, I assume the VHS is a variation of that.

I'm not sure about the price, but if you own the DVD I am fairly certain it is printed on there. But I am seeing the price 7344円 a lot.

(Mine is back home in Australia so I can't check).

Thank you for updating!
And sanctum, that pendant, is that the same first press price as the DVD? Or is it a different pendant.
Or did the pendant crucifix only come with the DVD, not VHS? And what do you mean by plastic bag?
Sorry, I just want to be sure I don't miss anything. Would that picture you posted of it, coming from yahoo auctions, be a good one?

I'm not sure what you mean, there wasn't any first-press difference for the DVD. It was just included with them.

And what do you mean by plastic bag?

A totally unremarkable plastic bag. Like this pin.

I just grabbed that from Google. They don't seem terribly rare so if you find one at a price you're happy with, go for it.
