Malice Mizer reviews?

good morning

I wanted to ask the site administrators if I can provide reviews of the recordings of Malice Mizer and Moi dix Mois. I have observed for a long time that there are few on the web and as a fan I would like to contribute my bit so you can know what it brings and what feelings I have of each of your songs.

If so, how should I do it? I post it or I get it somehow. I like that although time passes there are people who feel passion for these bands because for me it is timeless music that you have to know how to appreciate.

This made me wonder, has anyone ever translated Japanese reviews of any MM recordings?
I'm genuinely curious how their albums were received at the time in their homeland.

Has anyone even seen a review of their stuff? I don't think most western fans (myself included) collect the kind of magazines that would do serious reviews of CDs. For that matter, would it even be magazines, or would you have to look at a newspaper column or something? Or maybe "The Oricon", but all their old content seems to be lost to time.
Amazon.co.jp actually has a few long reviews on there, because Japanese people seem to take the whole thing a little more seriously than they do here.

EDIT: also I changed the thread title to something more topical. What's with the "S"?

Hmm there has to be some reviews somewhere but Ive never seen any come to think of it.

These are such old releases though so reading a review would just make me go "yah, Ive been listening to this for over 15 years now. Have kinda absorbed it into mah dna by now."

NGL, with MM's resurgence and reaching more international notoriety than they could possibly have imagined, I'm actually stunned that there hasn't even been a single YT review by some dedicated fan out there. If I had the tools and know-how, (and not this damned stammering due to camera-shyness/stagefright) I would LOVE to do reviews on stuff like Verte Aile (I do have some takes on it... but probably nothing really new or special within the fandom). Okay, which of you vets wants to step up to plate?

Eh. User reviews on Amazon are not really the same as "real reviews". Especially when they're biased.
I would really like to know how the Japanese music press reacted to their albums. Like, did the critics praise them and give them 5 stars for being innovative, or did they think it was all style and no substance.

Reading old reviews is always pretty fascinating, at least to me. It's especially interesting when you read an old review of an album that's considered a timeless classic (at least by the fans of the band), but the critic isn't impressed. At first it's like, "God, forgive them, for they don't know what they're doing!", but then you think about it and you might even agree with some of his points when you distance yourself from the fan mindset.

For example, to me it was a very eye opening experience when I read some old Beatles reviews. Some of their albums that are now classics were trashed by the critics. The people who actually were there back in the 60's didn't care for the Abbey Road, which some people now claim is a great album. Those old reviews are not ruined by some nostalgia for the good old days and for all they knew, The Beatles might have been just a trend that will die out in a few years. Those reviews are fresh in a post modern way, unlike ass kissing retrospectives.


Take a shot for every "review" I wrote in this post and you will die of alcohol poisoning.

Honestly I should probably write reviews for their discography on my website, but I hold their stuff so close to my heart that I don't know how exactly to go about it all in a non biased way.

I remember reading a Japanese online review about Lareine's cover of "Bara wa utsukushiki chiru".
May I say that their comment of "Banana Banana" had me in stitches. Can no longer listen to the song in the same way > . <

That show has probably influenced more VK bands than any band. Just ask Yoshiki!
