"La-Mulana 2" is finally out so I've been playing that! It's definitely less obtuse than the original, but I'm not sure if that's good or bad ::meev::
The music sounds a bit like they borrowed Mana's synthesizer ::mana::

Going to try and find a copy of Octopath Traveler tonight, but I'm not sure if it is still sold out here.

I tried the demo (as the merchant ::cred::), but it didn't really hold my attention at all. The combat felt very rote to me.

I played the first demo and liked it enough, it's just so darn pretty and takes me back to the Super NES golden days.

Though, I'm not too sure about how the story will play out.

So I bought it on Friday, I'm ~10 hours in and have recruited; H'annit, Ophelia, Therion, Tressa and have just met Cyrus.

@flowersofnight do you own the pro controller?

Yes and I more or less refuse to use anything else. Alas, it doesn't quite work on PC so I have to play La-Mulana using an Xbox controller I picked up for just such occasions.

My sister visited this weekend and played the Octopath demo so I had to sit through H'annit's fingernails-on-chalkboard writing ::hora:: It jarreth on my last nerve.

I picked her as my first character. I've forgotten nearly everything from the original demo, so I was very worried that the entire game would be written like that.

Yes and I more or less refuse to use anything else.
I might get one then, the joy-con grip isn't too bad, but I'd rather play with a real controller.

So Bloodstained is delayed until 2019 and Grandia I and II are getting a Switch release. It has been so long since I played the original that it has become a distant memory, but I do remember liking it and not finishing it. I found the PC port of Grandia II in a bargain bin about ten years ago but only played very little of it due to compatibility issues.

they got the game pretty much right.
Well, I finally got around to playing it and it was great.
Did you finish it?

I also played recently -
Katamari Damacy Encore/Reroll
and the Onimusha remaster, which was even better than my 10-year old self remembers, although no longer terrifying.

Nope ::teef:: Maybe I'll get back around to it sometime.
Most recently on Switch I played "Dragonball Fighter Z" which was fun while it lasted. Maybe next is "Sutte Hakkun Event Version" (which seems to be similar to the retail version), and "EVO: The Search For Eden" which I miraculously found a copy of for far below the going rate.

Upcoming: "Metalstorm" is getting an official re-release

Did you play Battle Princess Madelyn? I was planning on buying it, but the Switch and PAL release kept being pushed back and it fell off my radar again. I recently found out it had a physical release in Japan, so I might try and get it if it ever goes on sale. I heard the Story mode is butt, but the arcade mode is quite good and true to the 魔界村 roots.

Blasphemy looks neat too - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/828401966/blasphemous-dark-and-brutal-2d-non-linear-platform I really liked the 'The Last Door' games too.

Update Edit -
Cursed Castilla EX is being released on Switch next week too! Everything is coming up Milhouse!

Anyone else flippin' over Seiken Densetsu 3 finally getting a release (and retranslation) in the lands of freedom?

The 3D remake looks ghastly, but who cares since the original is still coming out.

I'm actually pretty excited about that! In my high school days, I remember playing one of the old titles on my pc emulator. Never got around to finishing it, though. I actually don't have a Switch right now, because I'm holding out for the rumored Pro/Mini, which sadly wasn't announced at E3. My compulsive preorder of Link's Awakening: Dreamer Edition guarantees I'll be picking one up eventually.

After finally completing Bloodborne not long ago, I'm going back through the entire Dark Souls series on PS4 and have made my way halfway through the second. Having family responsibilities really set me back as you can tell.. so I apparently decided it was a great idea to jump back into one of the most difficult series after being on a long gaming hiatus. ::teef::

Finished last night with "Super Black Onyx":

Super_Black_Onyx_FC_box.jpg

(Cover by Roger Dean, who did a bunch of prog rock album covers for Yes, Uriah Heep, and others)

The original "Black Onyx" was the first computer RPG ever enjoyed by the Japanese, and this Famicom version was an enhanced remake.
It's a "Wizardry"-style dungeon exploration game (where you have to draw your own maps on paper), but with a unique hybrid between turn-based and realtime combat. Extremely old-school and extremely mind-bending once the levels start looping into each other @_@

Other new arrivals: the "Metalstorm" reissue is finally out, and I tracked down a copy of "Recca" for a semi-reasonable price ::cred::

I was playing AI Dungeon 2 and it was a riot, but now I can't get it to work anymore :/
Shame, because AI generated fantasy adventuring was a blast.

To paraphrase von Neumann, anyone generating games procedurally is in a state of sin. ::mana::

The one and only exception I'll make is if you're playing an authentic copy of Rogue.

After being on this forum for quite sometime now and seeing a lot of your posts, I must say, you seem like an interesting person with interesting hobbies.
If it now turns out that you're also into Peking opera and Czechoslovak new wave films, the deal will be sealed: we will start a podcast!

This is something I'm not often accused of, and even less often directly below confessing to maniacally drawing dozens of little maps for a game ::meev::

Never heard a Peking opera though (so now you have to recommend one), and if you like aaaaaart films the less said about my own tastes, the better XD
