Hard to recommend any specific piece as I have no idea what they're even called Sadly, it's surprisingly difficult to find audio or video recordings of these things in the west.
Farewell my Concubine is probably the most well known in the west, because of the 1993 historical film, starring Leslie Cheung, named after the play. Not gonna lie, that's how I got into Peking opera as well.
Honestly, I would probably recommend that film first. They play out some short opera scenes in the film. If you like what you hear, check out the real thing then. The film itself is probably one of the best films ever made and Leslie Cheung was 10/10 in it. Though I should probably warn you that you will cry for days after watching it as it is quite possibly the most heart wrenching film I've seen at least.
Anyway, here's something I love, but all of my friends consider intolerable
