I kind of wonder if all the nauseating editing was so that Gackt could appear to get his English lines right on the first try.

I dunno. I got the impression his english wasn't the problem so much as the things he was saying.
He wasn't like this in the ienomi though. Compared to the ienomi, this is 'concentrated Gackt'.
Also, something seemed up, substance or moral wise. Maybe Namie Amuro rejected him or something.
Someone should invite him to their country on Twitter or Imgur or Tinder or TicTok but not Facebook to find out.
(ps I hate to admit it but I thought it was really funny when he said Mailce had all passed away)

It's just his(Joey's) style of editing. You can check out other videos of him with CDawgVA, Gigguk and his girlfriend Aki. All of them like to use abrupt cuts and they are native level English speakers. So I think it's likely an artistic choice.
I felt bad but I laughed when he said it too. Pretty boi wasn't just throwing shades... he threw the whole damn forest.

Recently I was drinking with a former major VK vocalist who is friends with hyde and from that also knows gackt.
He said when he met him it was like him just trying to con a bunch of former bandmen into some money scam thing? maybe some investment sh!t.
When I asked "so basically what kind of person is he?" he paused and then said "The type who just tells you anything you want to hear."

Honestly, I don't understand him. Why doesn't he just pay his taxes and go back to Japan. There's melonpan there.

I'm not really the biggest Gackt fan but I can add a little something.
In the late 2000's, I knew a business guy who lived in California who was American born but Japanese and had connections with certain musicians like Sugizo, Miyavi, Shinya from Dir en grey. He told me a few things about those guys which never was public knowledge and it never really made me doubt his word. This friend met Yoshiki once or twice and said about him "He was disheveled and seemed out of it".
Anywho, while he didn't know or meet him personally, he did mention that Gackt had invested in Korean Restaurants in Japan at the time....this was mentioned to me in 2009 or 2010 or so.
He said most of those guys invest their money elsewhere to diversify. Shinya wanted to invest into a Japanese video store in California. I never found out if that happened or not but it was interesting to hear, to say the least.
So who knows if these type of investments pay off or leads them to lose money.

He probably did pay his taxes. The AnimeMan interview took place in his house in Japan (the decor resembles a vampire disco love hotel). He went back in 2018 for a short appearance in Ayumi Hamasaki's concert. Else, he'd be filming his Demon Slayer cosplay behind bars.

Pretty sure it's the studio in his home. The Anime Man finally posted the studio tour video btw, which is heavily edited most times he says "studio". But the bathroom lines up with a tour gackt gave of his house in the 00s or something, I remember that bathtub.
He's clearly not being hunted down for tax fraud so maybe he did pay wtv he owed and just moved to Malaysia for less taxes? XD He's definitely been to Japan a number of times since the tax thing
