Since it's kind of getting messed up over on social media (not by me), here is the information from Mana's Birthday Lives. They had already been recording when the pandemic happened, which of course stopped everything for safety reasons. I know that Seth has recorded some vocals since then. Now Mana feels comfortable enough to say that recording will definitely continue and that he hopes to release the album in winter. Album recording and all will continue "bit by bit". There is also possibly a tour next year for Moi dix Mois' 20th anniversary. (Most likely Japan only but if the situation with the virus improves, who knows. I know Mana wants to take Moi dix Mois overseas) Of course with the virus situation and who knows what else, everything is tentative.

From what Seth tweeted in the past, he has recorded vocals for about half of the songs. This means the album is just about half completed, if Mana goes with everything that has been recorded.

Info about the paid delivery video streaming was released. Because of "various circumstances" only people in Japan will be able to view this time. I'm sure most people can figure out why. Actions of a few hurt a lot of fans.

At last, we're getting close

I wonder how many times Mana's had to start over - he's literally been recording this album for over a decade now. It would probably sound bizarre for Seth to age 10 years from one track to another. Does he still want to use the same equipment, guitars, synths as when he started 10 years ago? It could have become a sort of "Duke Nukem Forever" scenario.

I believe all the recording for the album is from 2019 on. Post Seth vocal cord and nasal surgery so more vocal range! As for equipment, sadly I'm not able to see what all Mana is using nowadays. But the newer songs do sound like there is a lot more going on with Mana's production. He's a computer techno nerd so I'd bet he has been paying attention to new sound programs, even if he still uses what has worked for him with his midi recording. Mana did tweet that he got a new Mac ProBook because he almost burned up his last one doing the videos.

Yeah it was almost close last year. Damn virus

He and the project members have been dropping hints about "REC" (as they so call it) for years and endless years - although we now know that some of that was probably the members working on their own musical projects.
I wonder if some of that REC was actually just sequencing stuff for live performances, the backing tracks and whatnot.

I know Mana remixed almost all of the MALICE MIZER backing tracks for the 25th Anniversary, plus the two MALICE MIZER songs that Moi dix Mois did. Not sure if that was mentioned much online, but there were a few moments.

Yeah, I know Sugiya tweets about REC, when he's actually recording ZIZ stuff or working on music for himself. Along with Seth who was doing After Image and then enka. His enka singing is doing really well in Japan, so it's definitely good he decided to go for that.

Who knows what all was happening during that time. I know that Mana was doing some things here and there, working on songs like "Beast Side", checking out musicians, but the real recording for the album, when Mana said recording started, was late 2019. I'm going by Mana's posts, cuz if anyone knows, it's Mana ::mana::

I wonder if they just lost the old backing data or if there were some legal reasons for major era stuff that caused the remixing~

But on the album! maybe those few who saw on my band sns stuff thingies that I was hanging out with ryux and omega dripp guys,
Was told that all that is left for recording is final guitar stuff. So that was a month ago? so guessing should get an announcement by end of the year.

The old data was probably old as mould and scattered across zips and floppies and subsequently incompatible with any modern equipment.

yah, I imagine taking any master tape data too would not be 100% on time either, remasters and such always have a few seconds different because of that drift on tape T_T

You mean the remakes of juka era songs like Solitude or the new songs?
I think we're just talking about the Malice Mizer tracks from the anniversary live, including the two that MdM covered (Gardenia and 真夜中に交わした約束), not MdM stuff. The remake/remixing of MdM would be born out of MdM switching from a single to dual guitar setup when K joined/around the release of Beyond the Gate and those songs thus needing to be re-arranged.

yah malice mizer ones, mdm would all be digital stuff easily recalled no tapey tape or legal stuff.

since random comments keeps slipping in haha,
I met up with a friend who is a die hard Malice Mizer and Kozi fan from back in the day, we talked alot before a ZIZ gig
but every time I brought up the gardenia tour she avoided answering in depth on it, makes me really wonder even more if it was as bad as the tereko recordings let off. @_@

I dunno, it's been a while since I listened but I never thought that one actually sounded bad.

yah you are right! probably have the image of the shockwave gig burned into my mind tbh
I thought the only copy of that was overdubbed with the CD audio.
Maybe there was a reason for that? :|
