Oh, it pasted in as a link instead of a picture. Changed it now
Thanks !

Well, seeing that 爆発対談パラダイス is not released monthly like the regular R&R NM, it narrows down the possibilities . But also makes it harder to find ...

Currently I have nothing . ::erm::

*I guess I didn't write correctly all the magazines I bought so I edited it

I read the most bizarre book review the other day, the author of the review had no interest in what the book was about and rather than treating it as a matter of differing tastes they took it as being a personal attack against them by the book's author. That could be a prompt for a humorous review but they were deadly serious.

TBH I found the movie Leviathan so terribly awful in all aspects that I ended up feeling it was a personal affront XD
Like spoiler, but they want you to sympathize with a drunk, violent old guy who gets thrown in jail for murder when he was only indirectly the cause of his wife's suicide, all because the local official wants to build a church on his plot of land.
It's supposed to critisize government corruption in Russia.
Except by the time he ends up in jail he's beaten his kid and raped his young wife (after she sleeps with his friend who he then tried to kill), who then kills herself from despair and not wanting to gutt fish for the rest of her life while living with an angry, violent, rapey old dude who has no redeeming qualities.

Like, I dunno? Glad to see the law does something right once in a while over there despite itself, I guess?

Still angry I watched that movie. Still angry people gave it stars.

Oh man. You don't know anything about crazy reviews till you've seen some reviews by this dude: https://www.imdb.com/user/ur8977071/?ref_=tt_urv

At first glance it seems that he writes your typical imdb reviews, but in some reviews he goes full conspiracy schizo about neo-nazi propaganda in Hollywood. His proof? Women with blonde hair are apparently getting better roles than women with dark hair.

His review of some Star Trek episode:
Roddenberry giving another neo Nazi sermon
10 October 2021
Roddenberry written episodes tended too much towards preaching praise for an Adolf Hitler ideology. He bent over backwards to rationalize reasons to kill women with dark hair and dark eyes.

The sci fi in this is overshadowed by Roddenberry's neo Nazi sentiments. It's totally hate mongering and obvious propaganda. You'd think Gene was bowing to photos of Adolf when you watch his works.

Dragonwasps:

More neo Nazi preaching, that's all
9 October 2021
Knee, Atkins, and Jordan do nothing more than earn their Hitler worship merit badge with the same old "kill all brunettes and make men depressed" theme that these movies always give us.

It's supposed to be about giant wasps, but it's hard to even go there, because of the neo Nazi preaching the director and writer team give us.

Just no fun in this, no strategy, no inspiration, except for Nazis, and those vindictive sorts who can't stand the jilting from brunettes they get all their lives.

The Wave:

Contrived disaster movie with Nazi ideology
20 September 2021
I don't know if Uthaug, Raeke, or Eeg was responsible for that, or all three together.

It's very predictable if one realizes it's Nazi ideology. A disaster movie concocted to kill as many brunette women as possible, which has been the biggest cliche in Hollywood since about 1965.

Lots of ridiculous, contrived scenes, such as a man trying to drown two of the lead characters for absolutely no reason, so they drown him. Apparently, the director or writer or both wanted to do the other cliche about rationalizing murder.

One of the worst movies ever made.

And the list goes on and on. If you're interested, check out all of his one star reviews and it's pretty much all the same .

I never watched much of the old Captain Kirk "Star Trek", but they can't have been killing women all the time on that show, right?

So not-even-tech person rant here.
I, who am not a developer, and have never developed,
had to tell a developer today that he can't use a modifiable freetext field as the unique identifier in his data model.
He has to assign ID's to the objects.
His response was that I didn't write that he needed to assign IDs to the objects.

Sorry you can't job, dude?

Here is an interesting sentence from one of my students that decided to research Egypt for a project.

'Muslim women cover their heads with a cloth called a hijab, which is used to protect themselves from dust, ultraviolet rays and any danger.'

Just out of curiosity, how old are your students?

And it seems Kaya's a burial mound now. Cracked me up.

Senior high school, specifically ages 16 through to 18.
So do you agree with the "Gaijin Smash" guy that Japanese students have typically undergone a thoroughgoing eradication of the soul by that point?

I've read some armchair theorizing that the cultural bankruptcy of Japan actually stems back to this desoulification, in fact.

16-18 huh. Well, I guess islam isn't really a thing in Japan but still.
Assuming this isn't one of your best students.

I'm pissed off. Covid regulations are finally gone, for now, in France.
So the RATP bus drivers go on strike.
We've essentially traded one pandemic for another, except if you kill this one people'll be all like, "Oh no she didn't!"

Why do you assume that? XD

Unrelated (or perhaps related due to an insufficient education): I found out that one of my most respected artistes, after leaving the band scene, ended up as restaurant waitstaff and then manual labor (perhaps an actual 倉庫番). What a downer.
Though as Faith points out it's hardly the first instance of band types ending up working at 7-11 or as waiters... just to give a couple of examples. Guess they can't all be high-flying BMW salesmen.

The ones who are BMW salesmen are probably making out like bandits during this car shortage.

The original sentence from her Japanese draft was 「ホコリ、紫外線、周りの危ない男性などを守るために装着する」

Guess they can't all be high-flying BMW salesmen.
Fenriz from Darkthrone has been working the same part-time job at his local post office since he was a teenager or something.

Well I mean, working at a Norwegian post office probably isn't too bad a gig. You probably get a full pension and everything.
Certainly much better than pushing boxes around the floor of a Japanese warehouse trying to line them all up with marks on the floor. While wearing one of those cloth "manual laborer hats". (Which I can't find the word for, by the way)

Here is another interesting sentence from a student, who decided to research American food -

'American food began in 1940'. His Japanese was something like アメリカ料理は1940年に生まれた。

In previous years I also had a student say that 'Hamburgers and Mac & Cheese are two traditional American foods'.

Of course I don't know too much about America myself, but my image of traditional American food would be lake-caught fish, pies and steak, probably from a bison or something similar. Can any Yanks edify me?

McDonalds was founded in 1940, so I think I see where they're coming from here

but my image of traditional American food would be lake-caught fish, pies and steak, probably from a bison or something similar.
I think a lot of what's considered "traditional" is a regional thing based on who migrated from where and how they adapted their traditional cuisine to America. Like Cajun cuisine in Louisiana, Tex-Mex along the Mexican border, "soul food" in the Deep South, and around where I am the sort of Americanized "Italian food" and "Chinese food" that has nothing whatsoever to do with the countries they're supposedly from ::meev::

Foods that mainly exist here like bison, turkey, pumpkins, cranberries, and so on are plausible nominations too. But really, the stereotypical "burgers and fries" is probably just as good an answer.

Alternate nomination: corn (or "maize" to any Britlandians), which we make pretty much everything out of, from sugar to petrol.

Hi friends, do you have a moment to talk about our uh...this thing. Check out this thing.

That might actually be what he was trying to say, but when I asked him to explain it he couldn't. It's like, bro, you it's your sentence, what do you mean you don't know what you mean? Teenagers, man. :p

"Chinese food" that has nothing whatsoever to do with the countries they're supposedly from ::meev::
A long time ago I attended a work function where the guy from Mao's last dancer gave a speech and he remarked that the first time he ever ate Chinese food was after he moved to America. :p

Dunno where to put it again :undecided:

This is the text:

この物語に登場する人々が生み出す
不思議な時間が流れる世界に
私は引き込まれてしまった。
安らぎ • • • 切なさ • • •
さまざまな感情と共に。

I'm not at the level to translate this sensically, but I think it can make sense with a translator .
