There are a few obnoxious moshers out there...but it's my belief that they just don't understand the concept. I'm all for moshing etiquette...as ridiculous as that may sound.

You push the people who can take it. And if you're in the pit...you should be able to take it. You don't TRY to bust someone's head open. If someone falls, you pick them up. If someone looks like they want out, you help them out.

That's how I enjoy my concerts, by moving with my fellow concert goers and enjoying the vibe and energy we create together. That's how it works.

You're completely allowed to not want to mosh. Fine, that's cool. But my main point of this whoooooole thing: Moshers in the pit, nonmoshers out of the pit.

Maybe its because of all of the "punk" moshers. Like AFI, in the one video, people are like doing flying kicks at each other and crap. Its so retarded.

Exactly. Flying kicks are for martial arts class. Not concerts.

The punching and kicking is coming alot from the "hardxcore" kids. [Not meaning to offend anyone.] Though I see very little of hard core in them at Ozzfest. I mosh. I've been in Ozzfest moshing with some of the worst alive. But, I don't feel it is necessary. Listening to band and watching them live IS two different things. But I know and understand the pit is not suppose to be peaceful. I have come to understand the only reason the Wiltern's pit was at a level of "peaceful" was because maibe the audience in the pit was at the least bit cautioned about it seeing so many signs around the stage warning you. There was tight security, and lastly would be the fact there was hardly anyone in the pit to actually mosh with. Well, willing to. Most of us were there just to watch the band. I understand that is out of context already, but it's defiantly making itself real among the L.A. crowd.

I just finished watching a short USA interview with Dir en Grey. They described them as "Japanese Heavy Rock Outfit Dir en Grey" Hmm... asides from pronouncing their names wrong (that just kinda irked me ) it was a nice short interview. Shinya just sat there twiddling his thumbs like a statue while Kaoru said some things. Since its youtube i I can't post a link but I might as well tell you what I saw XD They were playing short little scenes form the Child Prey Video and announced the US release of WTD on May 16th with footage from Code of Vulgarism. They also talked about how big their first short brief tour was filled to capacity and was a big feat since there was lack of advertisment and all....heheh if they only knew how big the fanbase really is.

About the moshing thing:

Well that's because you guys are 'civilized' and 'mature'.

Personally, I don't know if I'd mosh or not. Probly not because it would be no fun hearing fangirls SCREAM...and SCREECH, then I can't even hear the band!

If they were singing to the song, it'd be another thing, but when it's all KYO-SAMA!!!!! SHINYA-CHAN!!!!!!! or whatever they say, it'd just be really, really, annoying. ...Or when they just..scream.

But, I guess it doesn't count much, what I said.. since I've never actually been to a concert, but, just from what I've seen/heard... people get annoying in concerts.

I really wonder why people wanna fight during a concert though.. it's a show. Not a streetfight. ...But, whatever floats their boat... I guess staying out of the pit would work better.

That's the weird thing about concerts. You could be the most peaceful person in the world...but then you go to a concert and EVERYONE TICKS YOU OFF!!!

It must be because strange people have entered your personal space. It's instinct back from the time of cavemen.

And you want to enjoy the band but you have Sasquatch in front of you or Screamy McScreamerson in your ear...

AND then there are the drunks...

EDIT: Oh! You're talking about fighting as in moshing? Like I said, it's sort of a bonding, energetic experience...not necessarily "fighting" per se...

Heh, it's funny you say that... because normally. I'm the type of person who is all about the "personal bubble" thing. I don't let anyone touch me in day to day life. It's very uncomfortable for me to be too close to someone, even my friends. I'll go out of my way to avoid touching people. In concerts, however, I don't care if people touch me. Being squished against other people is part of the experience. It's really neat feeling everyone else moving with you to the music.

...But that's all it should be. Squeezing. A little roughness, some pushing, but only from the force of the crowd's movement in accordance with the music. Not being suffocated, or kicked, or punched, or having people thrash around next to you. When I hear "moshing" I think of idiot kids flailing around and hitting people and picking fights and being total jackasses for no reason. I'm not saying people shouldn't move duirng a concert... I just think that if they do move, they should move WITH the crowd in a way that doesn't interfere with everyone else's enjoyment.

That article makes me both excited and...upset...

I'm not quite sure how to feel about all this :?

On the one hand, my favorite band is getting successful in my home country and I'll be able to buy things more easily, see them perform, etc.. More money for them and blah blah blah.

But on the other, OMG, NEW AT HOT TOPIC: DIR EN GREY LIP GLOSS!!!11eleven

But I suppose I have to accept it all. And even buy that damn lip gloss...

Here's the article I just read on blabbermouth..
Billboard.com is reporting that Japanese band DIR EN GREY, who made their stateside debut with a showcase at last month's South by Southwest Music and Media Conference in Austin, Texas before following it up by stops at the 800-capacity Avalon in New York and the 2,000-capacity Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles (both of which sold out within hours of being announced online), are in talks to support KORN on 33 dates of their summer tour, according to Bob Chiappardi, co-president of Warcon Enterprises (DIR EN GREY's American label/distributor), as well as another source close to the band.

The tour deal has yet to be announced. "We're in negotiations about them performing on tour with KORN this summer," says Peter Katsis of the Firm, one of KORN's day-to-day managers. "We saw a performance at the Wiltern and were blown away."

What's just as surprising as the rabid reception for DIR EN GREY is that the Japanese-speaking band gained its audience without singing in English. The quintet has been building in popularity in its home country for about 10 years, releasing four full-length albums through either Firewall Div or Free-Will Japan and a variety of singles and video collections.

The only Hot Topic connection was that they typically sell Japanese fad merchandise. I'm really not too worried.
Other than that, it's definitely a cool writeup and I like the quotes from the industry folk.

oh WOW.
O.o And I used to be so obsessed with KoRn.
-_-;; Shows you can never run from your past.

I'm so confused on how I feel about this spread.
On one hand, they're popular where they're from so what says the shouldn't be here...but...
Jrock's my individuality here. I don't want people like, "Oh my god I love this band, are they singing spanish?"

I'll be quiet now.

I don't really care if they tour with Korn, sure I do dislike Korn a lot but whatever. If I go to a show, I'll just leave when Korn comes on ;D

My only real wish though is they don't end up doing what Seo Taiji did, and sound like a Korn knock off D:

I think it's a safe bet that it will be in the HMV stores in Canada. In fact, I was at one the other day and saw the "Taste of Chaos" best-of CD there, which has Dir en grey's "THE FINAL" on it. I'm just assuming it will be released here as well, but we'll see.
