i bought some Gackt cd's in a little store in Boston called Tokyo Kid. when i got home and opened them i saw in very small print: Miya Records. upon closer inspection they seem to be very high quality bootlegs. with extra songs. on the Mars album they added a "tiny voice remix" where thay take the singing parts from mizerable and put them to an R&B beat.

very strange.

i also noticed that Tokyo kid was selling more (obvious) boot legs. a best of Gackt and Malice Mizer cd. and a best of Malice Mizer collection. they were trying to pass these off as legit merchandise.

i want to burn that place down.

Report them to the police. If that makes you nervous, though, report it anonymously. Explain to them that these people carry taiwanese bootlegs of different cds from around the world without copyright permission, and, to your understanding, this is illegal. Also add that you have been a victim of this place for being tricked into buying these bootlegs.

If you put it to them like that, they should do something. If I was you, I would definitily call the cops on them. I got tricked into buying Miya records bootlegs on ebay before even after emailing the seller and asking what it said on the cds about where they were made. He had the nerve to tell me that he couldn't tell. When I got the cds, it clearly said in big, bold letters, "MADE IN TAIWAN". Yeah, I'd definitly sic the cops on them. Here's to hoping the place gets raided. ::hora:: ::cop::

But it isn't just Gackt they rip. They also rip Mana and everyone else, too. *My* personal favorite is the creation of albums or collections that never existed in the first place. ::cop::

The best is when the title/band name is mispelled.

Mukau, I love that pic of James in your avvie, its in my collection of James pics... >_> That episode was heavily edited because of his implants.

Oh, I once bought a bootleg (first and last time), and they spelled the name "Malic Mizer" on the actual CD. The whole packaging looked convincing but the inside... YEAH MALIC IM GONNA BUY THAT! T_T...this girl sells bootlegs on Ebay. She sells ALOT, seriously not only Malice Mizer, but for tons of other bands. Her name is cuties_world.

My best friend saw it when she came over and was like "Omg, I can't believe you fell for it." X_X...I felt horrible :| . The feeling of when you open it and you can't believe you actually have it yet, you see a Madrigal pic on the CD. Can you believe that :| ? And it was supposed to be in the Klaha era! They put Voyage era stuff on a Bara no Seidou CD. :/ Yes, I know how it feels and its not a good feeling.

Woah, GUCKT? XD I didnt think they spelled it THAT bad, I mean they have to look convincing right? But really, that place and people who sell them should burn. Its really not fair to the artists and fans who think they are buying the real thing. I can't believe that the store does that.

Its really embarassing and I think you should follow Kyu's advice on this. :|

hahaha I accidentally bought (what is probably) that same Mars bootleg from that same store 3+ years ago! They were the first Japanese CDs I'd ever bought and I didn't realize the implications of the cute little sticker that said "made in Taiwan"

It had the Mizerable remix and like 4 other extra songs, and they spelled something wrong; I think it was "Emu -for my deay-" :|

But yeah....bootlegs are stupid.

Everyone knows that all Japanese CDs on ebay are fakes.
Well there is that rare occasion when real CDs are up. But I have only seen that when one of the scape moderators were selling CDs ^^;

But it's kind of obvious when you see like a Malice Mizer DVD up on ebay and they are selling it for $10 and they have like 20 other copies of it.

I once bought Dix Infernal bootleg from MIYA records. The cd looked right on the outside and I really didn't look at it more carefully because I thought it was the real thing.
And at home I realized it was a damned bootleg, made in Taiwan.

I got my money back, and unfortunately the shop I bought it from is gone now. It wasn't the shopkeepers' fault, they were fooled too.

Well, it's only because they didn't know they were selling bootlegs and didn't want to lose customers once they heard of it from me. If they had known they probably would've just lied to me and told that it's real.

I bought the merveilles l'espace DVD on eBay. the price was really okay, I checked the regio-code (which said 2) and so I thought it was the original japanese. So I spend 40€ in this thing and I got a bootleg  . I'm still pissed off, but the shop is gone now.
(and the regio-code is 0  that was the most evil seller ever in m opinion...)

Well, it can't really be said that *all* of them are fake, but it is obvious if you have navigated eBay before to spot out those that are. Generally, they come in value packs, or they will say "SOUNDTRACK" in the title.

I think what made me saddest was seeing Schwarz Stein material pirated. :(

Anyway, it always makes me twitchy when I see everyone pointing at Taiwan for being the bad guys for pirating everything. Yeah, there *are* companies from over there that do, but when I went back to Taiwan this summer, I noticed that a great deal of the pirated material were not actually from Taiwan itself, and were instead made in industries established in Taiwan from other countries. (Hong Kong being one of the bigger influences.) It's really sad, and it bothers me every time when people just throw out Taiwan's name when piracy is discussed.

But that's just me, so... :\

^ But it specifically says on any of the Miya Records bootlegs "Made in Taiwan", usually in big, bold, red letters. That's why we're talking about it. :|
