Tokyopop, what the HELL have you done now?!

http://www.tokyopop.com/Robofish/contest/933103.html

I'm with a couple of people who commented saying it had damn well be the same as the original but translated. However seeing as how they're looking for these 14 year olds to send in their pictures in their Halloween costumes, I doubt it's going to be legitimate. ::hora::

Comments? Criticisms? ::gaku::

Ditto. :shock: I might seriously harm someone if it's not translated well, and especially if it only has Americans in it, cause I don't think we really have a Goth Loli culture.

However, I don't mind if there are some American Gothic Lolitas in it, just as long as they don't completely outweigh the Japanese material.

Omg, in my email, I told them they were going to get crap submissions like people in their halloween costumes and stuff, so it would be SOOOO ironic if you did that!! :lol:

I'm scared. I think it'll be all right as long as they print it on nice paper and such. Be glad it's Tokyopop and not Viz :shock: . Then it would have Naruto on the cover, and they'd change Mana's gender to female to avoid offending any 10 year olds and their mommies. But that halloween costume thing...how stupid. It would have been more appropriate ask for people's lolita photos. ::meev:: Like, duh...

^From what I am reading they ARE asking for lolita photos (asking for the brands etc to be included in the description of the photos.)

The Halloween thing was Kyu's own words, since a lot of "lolita" in the West only dress up for conventions and Halloween. they're not asking for Halloween photos... but that's probably what they'll get. ::meev::

It would be nice to have the GLB translated, but I'm not so keen on them adding in western stuff to it. Not that I have any interest in reading it... but it's be better to make a copy of the original, not add in a bunch of stuff to make it more americanized.

XD Unfortunately for me there are kids at my school who talk like that.

If someone spoke to me like that...on purpose, they would have no kneecaps.

And I personally think GLB should stay in Japan. Just my opinion, though.

^ Someone like that came up to me when I was made-up for a school dance, and asked if I was a boy or girl. I told her that I was both. xD

After that, she played "Ready, Steady, Go!!" for the dance. ::batsu::

@Muffin: Same here. And there's only 200 kids at my school.

I don't see what the problem is. The point of GLB is to advertise gothic and lolita brands by showing pictures of models wearing the brand clothing, plus whatever additional features. How bad can they mess that up? At the core it's still going to be about people wearing brand clothing, right?

::cred:: "Advertising is the universal language!"
