Gackt made a surprise visit to the graduation ceremony of Kami's Alma Mater - Satake Senior High School in Ibaraki prefecture on 2008.03.01.

Various sites have written about the appearance!

Gackt亡き友の母校で卒業ソング…式に飛び入り

This one is about the beautiful things Gackt said about Kami.. About his and Kami's parents emotions, and that the three shared a strong, tearful hug at the end. I don't have a proper translation, so I sincerely hope someone can translate this asap *__*

Gackt 亡き親友のために熱唱

This one is about the same, the beautiful things he said about Kami and the way Kami's parents reacted.

Also you can find pictures of the event at the schools website

Also Gackt.com:

Many, many thanks to pixiezdust for keeping us up to date with all of this.

And ofcourse.. Many thanks to Gackt for doing this together with Kami's parents. It's so awesome he did this..

Breaks my heart.
Kudos to Gackt, Kami's parents and whoever within the ex MM members involved in this.

I sense a faint butterfly smile floating around in the air.

This is awesome. Pretty much shows that Gackt and Kami were really good friends, that after so long, he still is doing this stuff for him and his parents.

And it's nice to that even though Gackt is a pretty big celebrity, he goes and does small things like this. Alot of bands and singers would say screw doing these small shows that get them no money. I think it show's Gackt knows what is more important in life.

Wait--why would he do this at Kami's old highschool? It doesn't seem like there would really be anyone who knew Kami.

Maybe the teachers knew him? ::kisaki:: Maybe he's known as one of the 'famous alumni' from their school XD;

I still think this is so sweet ::weepy::

It makes sense if you ask me. After all, all Kami really had time to do with his life was go to school and then do bands. So if his parents couldn't or didn't want to hang onto his drums anymore, it's a reasonable choice.

Plus, this way generations of impressionable schoolchildren will learn who Kami was! Or at least the ones who ask what the drumset is.

BTW the pics on the school website amused me ::meev:: 9/10 of it was old school bureaucrats blathering away at the podium, and then GACKT comes onstage! WIth GUITARS ::erm::

This is unlikely, as there is no tenure as I am aware of in the boards of education here, and teachers are shuffled around after 1 to 3 years or so. Some teachers had been at my schools for upwards of 5 years and even that seemed like it was pushing it. This isn't restricted just to teachers, either; principals and vice-principles were shuffled about just as willy-nilly. It all seemed so inefficient to me, but oh well. (And on a national scale, the position of Prime Minister has befallen a similar fate... Since 1950, America has had 12 presidents; England 13 PM's, and Japan? 26, many serving a couple of years at most. BUT I DIGRESS SO HARD SORRY; basically I'm saying that if there was anyone there that remembered him I'd be surprised. (I'm not counting it out at all, just sayin')

Maybe he's known as one of the 'famous alumni' from their school XD;
This, on the other hand, you're dead-on about: schools as entities take great pride in their famous alums. One of the jr. highs I taught at boasted actor Motoki Masahiro as an alumni (he visited last year), and some awesome famous violinist whose name unfortunately escapes me. My other jr. high had produced the band Going Under Ground.

But yeah awesome keep rock 'n' rollin' for the kids.

You really think he chose it just for that?

It's cool, it just seems like a weird place to do it.
