Since I am bored and sick at home, I have went ahead and broke it down.
Jealous - Still one of my favorite Deg singles by far. Wish they would re-record it untouched but with cleaner production. *_*
I'll - Another one I love (but I'm not one of those 'old school Deg or nothing fans', just think these two singles work in that magical poppy sort of way, hehe).
Akuro No Oka - They finally grow into a more serious band here... and it is possibly the best song that they ever wrote! :p
Yurameki - Fun classic, but I'm usually bored with it compared to the rest of Gauze singles.
-Zan- F'ing rocks, but then again it has a lot of crap I don't like in it as well. Probably should have been shorter?
Cage - A fan favorite, but I don't know why. So many other great songs on Gauze. Love the chorus, of course.
Yokan - Another fun song, but the last single could have been any song on Gauze as well. As in, there is nothing really "single" worthy imo.
Myaku - I love the song, but again, as a single? I guess it does -sell- what Macabre was all about.
[KR] Cube - I guess I should mention Macabre is my least favorite album of theirs, so Cube represents why. A little gimmicky and needs more structure. I just find it weird that this could be a single. I guess, once again, that catchy chorus warrants it.
Taiyou no Ao - Love it! But only as a breath of fresh air after listening to Macabre straight through. On its own, I dunno... Obviously the roots of "Jessica".
Ain't Afraid to Die - It is impossible NOT to like this song :p Aside from the children backup vocals (which I hate in ANY song), one of the best ballads ever written by Deg or anyone for that matter.
Filth - I guess I am on the minority on this one but I love Filth. But ONLY for its freaking amazing chorus. The rest is good, but kinda generic, leading you up to be blown away by one of the best Choruses ever written! :p
Jessica - Amazing stuff here. This is the definition of what a single should be.
Embryo - An excellent way to round off the Kisou singles... nice and chill with the perfect touch of darkness. I do prefer the album version, though.
Child Prey - I want to hate the song... Mainly because it is kinda 'cheese-metal' with the chants and all. But it always has a special place in my heart.
Drain Away - This song made me cry. In a bad way. I didn't know if Linken Park ripped them off or vice versa. Regardless, I was pissed and unimpressed. I can listen to it now and be fine with it, but when it was released I felt bad even owning it.
Kasumi - Now that's better. But not great either. Maybe Amber would have been a better choice?
And I know Obscure was kind of treated as a single of sorts (well at least it had a PV that was playing on TV), it should have been the first single of the album. The song rocks and is possibly my favorite Deg song of all time.
The Final... - Great stuff here. Deg back in full swing and just good to know that the title wasn't signifying something to do with the actual band.
Saku - To the point, hard, heavy and fast rocking song. Great way to promote the album even though everyone seems to hate it.
Clever Sleazoid - Hmmm... This is where I am going to sound like the majority here, but I am not impressed with any of the singles off of Marrow of the Bone. Maybe it is because they were at a weird point and trying to make their singles more accessible to heir growing international fanbase or *gasp* they just were not on their game, but other than the few times I throw on Marrow, I rarely ever listen to this.
Ryoujoku no Ame - I actually like out of the three. But it still is just lacking some sort of memorable riff, vocal, or anything
Maggots - Again, it just doesn't do it for me. I like the attempt, but the execution just falls flat compared to what I KNOW they are capable of.
Dozing Green - I think is pretty great. Not as a single, but definitely as a solid song. Hopefully the album will be more along the lines of this and...
...Glass Skin - Again, I will wait til I hear the official version, but so far so good.
