I don't know LOL. It was the only one they had there, it's the one with her holding a boat haha. They had another version with a DVD, is that it? I don't buy DVD+CD sets but I think the track listings where the same. They had somesingles but that was really it.

I don't really know anything about her, I just saw some pvs on YouTube and liked what I heard so I dcided to pick his up. It's fun sometimes to buy a cd from an artist you don't know too well.........unless the cd ends up sucking. (looks at her gazette cd)

I know what you mean, I sometimes buy cds based on their covers at second hand shops. (linda perry...)

You got keikan shijin! My favorite tracks are GOD DIVA (and the orchestral version of kitei no tsurugi but you should probably listen to the original mix first). You'd probably like Boukouku kakusei Carthasis (5. 亡國kカタルシス). It's really catchy. If you like pop without the guilt this is it. ::meev::

Yes I like kitei no tsurugi! One of the PVs I saw was the original mix, I like both and don't know which one I like better :3 The orchestrated version is so dramatic.

I won't really get to listen to the CD until I can put it on my iPod next week because I'm not always glued to my computer at work. So I gotta iPod it if I really want to listen to it.

I think I really like her white alice style. Even though it has this 90's cheesey j-pop sound it's just very...strange. There's a lot of of sounds in the production that make it very strange and "ali project"-y. :)

Did anyone catch ALIPRO at VRock? Her(Arika) performance was dreadful, IMO, she sounded like she had a terrible terrible cold, and the crowd was totally unresponsive. After they finished Boukoku kakusei carthasis the crowd didnt even clap.

I'm really glad Gekka no Ichigun, Dali, & Hoshi no Tsuki no Sonata got repressed.

Gekka no Ichigun is extremely impressive for their earlier works.
"Komorebi no Waltz" is one of my favorites, and being that the only instrument in the song is an accordion (and i HATE accordions), that says a lot.

My favorite album from them is "Dali", perfect mix between classical style songs and new era sound....tracks like Ophelia Ibun and Venetian Rhapsody are masterpieces.

That is also a great one, but a bit "happy" for my taste, I usually love the nostalgia feeling on ALI Project's songs.

For example, the Bara-iro Suisei Kageki-dan version found on Etoiles is such romantic and nostalgic piece, another one of my faves.

That was a very bad example of ALIPRO.

I haven't gotten into any of their old releases. @_@

The happy ones are usually my favorite. Sometimes they put out slower stuff, and it's ok...but I lose concentration on it. I dunno, I like happy strings.

let me just say that - Senritsu no Kodomotachi - is my new favorite.

It's cool! Better than Jigoku no Mon. I'm hoping Dategoku Sensen is cool too, they seem to be on a roll.

I checked this band out due to this thread and I can't believe that I actually really like them. Excessively electronic and poppy stuff irritates me these days, but this is pretty unique and it has such a pleasantly weird feel to it.

So, thanks for the recommendation.

I've listened to like 20 different songs on YouTube so far and I liked every one of them to greater or lesser degrees.

I'm downloading their discography as we speak, so I can't really discuss them that knowledgeably until I get a chance to fully pour over their catalog.

I think I'd like Ali Project, but I'm afraid to get into them, because if I do end up liking them, I'll kick myself because I had a chance to see them but left as they were coming on to go get the autographs of the band that played before (ketchup mania--who I looooove).

That's crazy. They have such a huge amount of releases it'd take a really long time to listen to all their music. I havent gotten into more than 5/6 of their albums.

If you watched those with PVs on youtube, they are generally their more poppish anime-release works. Their more not-so-mainstream stuff is really difficult to get into (for me, at least). Albums like moonlight intoxication seem really slow for me since it's totally orchestral driven.

My favorite album is psychedelic insanity (and maybe dilettante), and I love almost every track on that album. Check out arabiya layla gendan! It is an amazing piece.

Edit: also check out ankoku psychedelic because it is amazing live, with drag queens and near-naked men dancing. The composer (mikiya katakura) who plays keyboard seems slightly embarrassed and it amuses me a little

Moonlight Intoxication is a strings album, so yeah, i guess that one is hard to get into.
They had a series of four albums comprising of strings orchestrations of their popular works, those are Etoiles, Kamigamino Tasogare, Romance (my favorite) and Grand Finale.

The albums i think you should start with are definitely Psychedelic INsanity, Dilettante, EROTIC & HERETIC, & Noblerot.

I'm a big fan of music with heavy middle eastern influences - particularly when combined with female vocals - so I'm way into this. (I was trying to find the studio version of "Iskanderia" by Natacha Atlas on Youtube to illustrate, but all there is is the live version and it sucks).

Anyhow, I guess "fully pour over their catalog" wasn't the best way to put it. I meant more like, sample bits and pieces of it and then listen to a few albums all the way through.

I still haven't had a chance to do this though, because I worked all weekend.
