And why is he dressed like that? It's like the Mexican character showing up in a sombrero.

I thought she said "Bun Raccoon".

Because a kimono is formal wear? Seriously though, look at the others. ::meev::

Huh? Yeah, the others are wearing suits and stuff - like I'm assuming most Japanese people do at red carpet events.

Yeah for real. Do they have red carpet events in japan? ::meev::

I've never seen photos of any such thing. And you'd think if they did have them, that music-celebrities (i.e. gackt) would attend and therefore there would be photos in existence of said celebrities at red carpet events. But I've never seen a photo of Gackt at an event like that. Or Ayumi. Or Koda Kumi. Or any other japanese pop stars.

I've seen pictures of Gaga doing a red carpet thingy in Korea, so it would be strange if Japan never had red carpet events.

I agree, it would be bizarre. But it's also bizarre if they do exist and I have never seen them.

^ This particular kimono is of his own design. I like the colors and butterfly motif, it's like a kimono with a print you're more likely to find on a yukata, but the material is stunning and it drapes so nicely on his body..

And I think it's quite appropriate if Japanese people choose to wear kimono to a red carpet event.. since it's formal wear just like a suit. What's wrong with showing a bit of your own culture when going to a foreign country? :)
After all, Gackt was voted nr. 1 in the oricon poll "Men best looking in kimono" and that is so true!

This event was not like a high profile Hollywood premiere, but I think Josh Hartnett could've tried a bit harder. ::gaku::

The night of the premiere I went to sleep thinking how nice it would be if Gackt wore a kimono or a white outfit. And he ended up wearing both-- so creepy. ::shifty::

I don't think there's really anything wrong with it (except that I think it comes off a little cartoony) but the way you defend Gackt against even the most minor criticisms amuses me.

I think he looks great in the kimono but he's isn't number one in the kimono ranking for me xD
he does look great, just a bit out of place in my opinion... I'm quite curious about seeing more ^^ thanks for sharing!

if i remeber correctly anna tsuchiya also showed up in kimono at the berlinale filmfestival, I guess they feel like they have to represent their culture or something

edit: ok this is pretty close to konayuki's post, anyway I think it's cute, it seems like they're trying to fit into the cliché

So if you're like me and couldn't find him after the 10th time watching the stupid video. He's in the background in the last interview before the clip ends. Is there other spots that you can see him besides the movie clip? ::meev::

It probably would of helped of if I saw the previous photos on the other page ::meev::

Why didn't he get an interview? I was hoping for some bad Engrish. (Actually just kinda curious how good his English is. Or if the program will do that shit where he'll speaks in Japanese and they just dub over him and the English voice uses an Asian accent lololol).

Here's your engrish, Gackt seems nervous as hell and I have a hard time understanding him, but English isn't my native language, so...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N1MQhDcNrI

Here's what he's saying though, if you don't understand him like me xD

"Two years ago, this (?), he showed up. And we were talking.. we talked about this Bunraku for over... 10 hours? In a small room.

And I eh.. I eh.. said "yes." And I spent a good time in Romania, and uh, I'm very happy for working with them. And of course you guys know that he is a genius. And of course know you guys know they are actors, more than (that) they are great people. *smile*

You know, uuhh.. our schedule was very, uh... when I was in Romania, I woke up at 5 and I slept at 3. For two months! But, you know.. they were always smiling. Yeah.. I, yeah, I couldn't understand.. why they could smile every time they.. you know. But I can feel that they're.. that they're always enjoying their life. It's very important to.. succeed? I uh, don't know how to.. it's kind of difficult to explain how I feel but... They're always.. pushing me, and uh.. yeah.

It's is very good. It was very good learning experience for me. And I could their powerfulness. Japanese actors more strict. They are always.. they are of course acting, but with uh.. no smile. *crowd laughs* I love this smile."

I NEVER saw any Japanese, man or woman, baring their chest while wearing a traditional kimono. He looks ridiculous.

I think he had to show his chest in order to be recognized as a male by all the untrained eyes :B

Perhaps he wished to show his chest was way more impressive than Dada's? I prefer Mana's modest and proper ways with kimonos, but then I always felt somewhat sorry for Gackt.

Well done, ahahahah! This only happened at the end of the photoshoot, it was SO hot, you know, and some of the guys were seriously drunk. Also Mana fancied impersonating the poor orphan girl at the hands of bad guys, eheheheh!
