Usually it makes music sound better. I'll freak out over something and be like OMFG THIS IS AMAZING and then the next day when I listen to it again it's just pretty good.

Also, I was only on my second beer at that point.

Exactly what I thought. It's good, but I've heard it all before.

To be honest I got bored half way through and stopped listening.

I'll give it another go at work tomorrow...

Some of my first impressions are that it is definately better than Dixanadu, and better than what i expected it to be. However, not as good as Dix Infernal and Nocturnal Opera.

Seth almost ruins Ange's remake at certain points, it's like he goes against the song itself, it makes the song sound worse than it's supposed to sound, i really don't know how to explain this.

I still need to listen more to this album.

I jus have to say that I really don't like the way some of you talk about Seth. He's part of Moi dix Mois, and not a random singer that can be replaced just like that.
I really don't understand what you guys mean when you say that he sounds bored, he sounds wonderful in my ears. (But of course, we are all allowed to have different opinions. :) )
I'm curious, those of you with these opinions; have you ever seen him live?

I for my part adore the album, so far Witchcraft is my absolute fav. <3

Mana is now calling himself the "Master" of Moi dix Mois. I don't see how it should be surprising that people still tend to not look at the rest of the band as fully integrated and contributing members.

Anyhow, I'm going to to have to give this record a couple more chances because that first listen was pretty okay and there were definitely a couple new ideas but I didn't really find it be anything to write home about and I'm fully aware that it takes some time to warm up to a record sometimes. (I'm suddenly really enjoying that new DD record, for instance.)

Lol I see that as some joke between Mana and his fans, he already said in an interview that he was considering to make all the members "permanent", during the dixanadu era I think.
It's just part of the persona and I guess he knows it makes us smile : )
(I realize that in my last posts I've done nothing but counter what you say xD I'm sorry I hope you're not taking it bad, it's all in good spirit~ :) )

Ok in Dead Scape...anyone feel Sugiya was robbed his awesome baseline from the V-rock fest...
I mean...there is this grainy/live recording...track placed over the baseline in the beginning and then removed when the guitars cut in....which is cool but I dunno...

I don't feel it was as intense sounding as live live xDD wahhh I just reallly thought Sugi's baseline stuck out and he got jipped ...

Well, I don't really know how he could change up the songs to not sound like Moi dix Mois while still sounding like Moi dix Mois. ::meev::

(oh hi)

I have to admit I grabbed this with low expectations... between the time frame since the last release and the fact that DIXANADU left me pretty cold, I'd really lost my taste for M10M. Haven't listened to them in well over a year. But I'm pleasantly surprised.

The songs aren't blowing me away but they have this awesome epic/soundtrack feel to them. Good background/painting music. I think the sound has matured a bit. Pretty solid album.

Only downside is the Ange remake... IMO it's weak compared to the original, and really highlights all the differences between Seth and Juka's singing styles...and not in a flattering way. I have always found Seth to be a little boring/passionless in his delivery and this is a prime example. It's emotionless. The second time I listened through the album I turned it off and put on the Dix Infernal version instead. ::meev::

Sometimes a song is just better live then the studio version. :P Plus it's now common practice for bass to be pretty much nonexistent in most modern rock music these days :(

Album ain't bad though, it still has that same old fun campy goffy feel like the previous releases had but it didn't blow me away. I think I'll need to give it a better listen and it may grow on me. I dig the quick solo in Dead Scape (Mana do moar solos (or K I don't give a shit)).

I caved... I listened to a YouTubed version of Dies Irae, and I justified it ONLY because pieces of it were used in the promotional video... I'm really into it so far but I want to get the complete feel for the work! So far I'm really appreciating the guitar work, it seems like his skills/compositions as far as the guitar go are evolving!

okay, so I finally got *ahemdownloadedahem* the album, and am listening to it. keep in mind that I'm not a big MdM fan...

In paradisum - omg this is epic, choir ftw.

The Seventh Veil - sounds like a rockin' time so far. yay more choir. oh how I've missed you guys. I'm also digging the harpsichord. okay now it's just formula MdM. you can end now, song. almost done, good! not a bad tune, like I said, typical MdM, but it's good.

Witchcraft - while this song is getting going, I'll just say that I love the title, and omg more choir and harpsichord?! and omg electro synth sounds like deus ex machina or kyomu no naka de no yuugi *dies* ::k:: I'm not a fan of his vocals in this one though.

The SECT - the beginning sounds nice...okay now it's all heavy, I was hoping for a nice song like Dialogue Symphonie or Last Temptation. I guess there will be one of those later probably, hopefully. Not that this song is bad, it's just more formula MdM. Not like that was unexpected, so I can't say I'm disappointed, it's just another MdM album. So far anyway. But now that I'm quite a ways into this song I quite like it actually.

Divine Place - wow Mana's really bringing the choirs back for this album, brings back memories of bara no seidou. anyway, this song is okay, nothing too special.

Pendulum - haven't started this song yet, but I love this title too, and am excited for it to start. in 1 minute. okay it's starting now. prickly sounds, yay. and gas sounds, mmm... this organ sounds good. well, with a title like Pendulum I thought it would be really exciting, but it's kind of boring. the guitar in it is pretty cool though.

The Pact of Silence - was there this much choir on DIXANADU? I don't recall there being. not complaining though. the interludes on this album so far are far superior to those on their previous albums. probably because they're all at least almost a minute in length. A Lapis Night's Dream was just 28 seconds of organ...who cares about that. these ones actually have substance to them.

Ange~D side holy wings~ - I honestly don't notice much of a difference from the original...but I haven't listened to it very much/in a long time.

Agnus Dei - sounds kind of happy actually. in an MdM kind of way. at least it did...not really anymore. okay, this is nothing interesting. next please.

Sanctum Regnum - this is better! not amazing in any way really, but I like it. not really a lot to comment on.

Dead Scape - liking the intro. not the rest though. oh but the bass is awesome!

Dies Irae - yeah, this whole album is really bringing back bara no seidou vibes. anyway, I enjoy this song, it actually has a good melody.

Baptisma - kind of a boring outro...nothing exciting like In paradisum and..oh wiat, a choir is singing now, I eat my words!but that didn't last very long.

okay, so this album isn't terrible, but then, MdM is never terrible. it all kind of sounded the same to me. there weren't any tracks that stood out. and we also didn't get a Mephisto Waltz/Last Temptation type of song that was kind of mellow-ish to balance it out. it's an okay album I guess, but I think I prefer DIXANADU...for now.
