what do you mean by 'cook the books?'
Is that some expression I've never heard of or something?
Cooking the books means fudging/omitting data/facts in your favor.

I actually think Japan got stranded on 4 tectonic plates by God on purpose because he knew that those motherfuckers would attack Holy Pearl Harbor.

You bet! Serves them right.

^^No, God only kills people en masse for being gay. Haven't you listened to Pat Robertson?

EDIT: Excuse me, God also devastated Haiti for practicing Voodoo. But it's mostly just the gays.

Hey now, not all Americans and religious people are batshit insane. ::kozi:: It's just that the insane ones are really vocal and make the rest look bad.

Same here and everywhere I guess. It's just that no Pat Robertson could get away with that kind of shit here, he'd be immediately fired, and it would be a huge public scandal. Which of course doesn't mean part of the population doesn't share such "opinions"....

^^Yeah, he's actually a very successful businessman with his own cable network and t.v. show. He even ran for president against Bush Sr. in the Republican primaries.

not generalizing about people from the US but this kind of people make me sick
so, what do you guys think about it?
Why does there still need to be revenge for the attack on Pearl Harbor? I don't get it, didn't we "bomb the shit" out of Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

Anyway, I didn't know Pearl Harbor was such a big deal to some people still. I didn't even think about it when the earthquake happened. It's sad when people are stuck in the past, and even worse when whole countries are :P

I guess somehow it's always easier putting the blame on your enemy forever, but if you do that you'll never be able to see things as they are.

WWII has left huge scars everywhere, and there's no denying it's a past that's hard to live with, but many mistakes were made on all sides, and the sooner you admit it, the better.

And it's not today's people you should blame either. How very stupid.

As part of today's people, I feel I have a responsibility to recognize the past on my own instead of continuing grudges from long ago. There is no reason for saying Japan deserved this earthquake because they attacked Pearl Harbor. No country deserves that. Yes, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, and then we bombed Hiroshima, but I thought we moved on from that point in our history. Apparently not.

This is what I was gonna say. I was surprised no one said it before you.

The ancestors of the assses who posted that Pearl Harbor crap massacred the Native Americans and stole their land, who before the arrival of the European settlers had themselves been making war on each other.

Thank you, that's what I'd like Americans and European anti-americans to be aware of too.

Isn't it kinda gay though having the name Pat Robertson while there's a sparkly teen idol called about the same?

I can't believe people are still griping about Pearl Harbor. I mean yeah, sure, they chose to attack but we did get payback. It's done and over, move on. I wonder how many of those people who commented live in the southern half of the country because they're the ones that seem to be "old days patriotic" and are intensely religious (I'm basing this on what I've observed, but I know not everyone down there is like that). I bet a lot of them play video games that were made in Japan and don't know it.

I feel like there are two sides to the "intensely religious." I know people from back in Florida to here in college who I consider to be intensely religious, and all they've been doing up to now is praying for Japan and collecting donations. So I don't think being "intensely religious" is necessarily a negative characteristic.

I appreciate the fact that the people who blab on Pearl Harbor still have a sense of history somewhat, but holy shit is it severely misguided. And I agree with PE said, not everyone who is intensely religious is a nutjob.

Yeah, you're right. I didn't know how else to put it without making it sound very negative, I'm sorry about that. I'm still trying to think of how to label the people I have in mind, but it's not working ::bleh::
