When I open the edit window, my reply to Sumire_hitsugi is all still there, so I just copied it:

Portlandia is really good (I think season 1 was better though). Somehow I forgot to mention it when we were discussing funny shows a couple pages back. Any show that devotes that much time to making fun of hipsters, hippies and yuppies get an immediate thumbs up from me.

A couple favorite sketches:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2LBICPEK6w (this one makes me think of Berserk ;) )

Anyone that's watched Battlestar Galactica can relate to this one:

Edit: Here's part 3 of that sketch (I can't find the second part) where actual BSG actors and Ron Moore show up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lEQ_yNJTZ0

Just got back from a special screening of The life and Death of Colonel Blimp with a Q&A by Thelma Shoonmaker @_@ it was very good, and the restoration was amazing! If you like this kind of cinema from the 40's, I highly recommend this piece.

Honestly, the fact that it was "woodland" raised and fed sheep's milk is almost funnier to me than the rest of the skit. Domestic chickens wouldn't last an hour in the woods.

I'm really not an anime fan but I recently watched all of Afro Samurai and I thought it was pretty cool.

I'm waiting for Community to come back. Eight days!

I'm watching "Journey to the Center of the Earth," the newer one from 2008. Although I should see the old one. But anyway, it's such a fun movie! I'm really enjoying it :D

I'm watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Just finished chapter 12. Even if I know the major spoilers of the series I wanted to see them with my own eyes.
I have not been into anime since when I was like 16 or so, but... this one has made me cry more than once :'(
I am not supposed to watch it right now since I have a big mountain of homework! (hate holiday weekends, teachers think we have superpowers and give us lots and lots of homework :(

YES!! It's going to be good~ I'm surprised they're not billing it as a prequel to ALIEN, although most everything about it leads me to believe it will be one anyway...

Scott is actually pretty adamant that it isn't one. It's obvious that it is, but maybe he wants to surprise people or something.

He should have probably used a different font in the trailer then... I guess he just wants both stories to exist in the same reality, just not be directly related to each other?

I'm being a nerd here, but the whole thing with the moon is such a classic Chinese/Asian motif ::batsu::

I finally watched this. I'm pretty excited because there's no space sci-fi on TV right now (and there hasn't been any good space sci-fi on TV since BSG) and I don't remember the last time I saw a space sci-fi movie. I've been jonesing pretty bad.

Omg, life is so good, Mrs. Dalloway the movie is ACTUALLY ON TV. Ugh, I love that book. I'm such a nerd that I have a huge poster of the book cover framed on my wall. XD

1920s London fashion ::squee:: The scene where Peter comes in kills me every time, eek~ And practically every scene dealing with PTSD/mental illness/doctors, etc. is so interesting.

Man, I know it's corny, but I've been cracking up for the last couple days watching that SNL sketch of Liza Minnelli Tries to Turn Off a Lamp... I can't explain it, but I just found it hilarious... That and all the episodes of America J-POP Fun Time Now because it's 100% accurate of the wanna-be Japanese culture in America.

I liked Daria back in the day until she and Jane started up with Tom... As soon as Tom was introduced, I thought the show lost pretty much all it's humor and went straight for teenage angst and relationship drama, so I just skip the last couple seasons. (Except the Is It Fall Yet? movie.) Trent and Daria made much more sense than Tom and Daria ::meev::

Yeah, I super appreciate those weeaboo sketches. I died the first time they did it.

As for the Liza Minnelli sketch, I appreciated that too but Kristen Wigg is really insufferable to me most of the time (only on SNL though - she's good in movies). She's so obnoxious and over-the-top that I have to fast forward her sketches a lot of times.

Edit: Because it's SNL-related: I had a dream earlier this week where I extensively made out with Bobby Moynihan of all people. What the fuck, brain?

I was shocked at how offended Japanophiles got at those. I thought they were hilarious and went off and told a lot of people about them and I got a lot of mixed feedback... People who aren't too serious about Japan but still enjoy some music/anime loved them, but then there were others... A few years ago I had a long discussion about South Park with a friend who loved the show because it bashed everybody and made fun of everything (religion, politics, video games...) and how I shouldn't be offended because it was all in fun (not that I was offended at all, who takes South Park seriously?), but she was genuinely hurt that SNL was making fun of Japanophiles because she was one o_O ::batsu::
