Hi everyone,
I've read this forum for years... From the beginning I think, when -scape- (the site) was born
I'm Italian and a Malice Mizer fan since, well, 2001 in fact, I was a teenager back then and I got to know them only to read shortly after that they were going on hiatus.
I think I registered on this forum years ago (maybe it was a previous version), but I didn't ever write much, and I can't remember my nick at all. So I stumbled on -scape- again, and I thought it was time to register again (and maybe contribute more).

Maybe you're not a Moi dix Mois fan, but I can't help remembering how they thought they had visited "Itary" during the FatedRaisond'Être tour, it was so typical and funny!

Haha, yes they wrote Itary all over the way. I'm also a Moi dix Mois fan BTW, and I attended their gig in 2007. There's also a sneak peek of me in the DVD backstage videos, when Mana entered the venue and everyone went crazyMissUMana wrote:Hello, Helkär!

Haha well, even if I prefer "Ice" as the meaning of my Elvish name... I guess "completely in love" isn't that bad either. I think I even prefer to live in Sweden (or Norway, where I've been several times) than in Italy sometimes: better climate (at least for me ) and landscapes.

Serge Gainsbourg was a great artist, but he became a pain as time went by and he sunk into self-destruction. Would you believe he actually said to 22-year-old Whitney Houston "I want to fuck you" before millions of amazed TV viewers!!! He was permanently drunk and uncontrollable, while everybody who knew him said he was the most delicate man on earth when sober. What a crying shame. My favourite song is "Jane B", which he wrote for Jane Birkin.

I've been reading your forum since discovering it in July, and after drowning in champagne mixed with melon liqueur, finally decided that it was time to dive into the dark depths of the human consciousness which is scape.
I'm twenty one, and I've been loving Malice Mizer since 12. My favorite era conceptually is the Klaha era, but my favorite musically is definitely the Tetsu era. It took me years and years of listening though, to ever get to that point. When I first heard Tetsu, my reaction was basically
oh
bad music for bad people
and then I ran back to the embrace of Bara no Seidou and the one or two Gackt era singles I enjoyed.
Due to a lack of knowledge of places like scape, and a wealth of knowledge to the end of every visual kei act I enjoyed being disbanded, I never kept up with the scene, or actively participated in any discussions. So Malice Mizer was, after my first few years of listening, reduced largely to this nebulous thing of too many (or too few??? still deciding) guitars and beautiful dreams of true and tragic love in my mind. It wasn't until I rediscovered the Tetsu-era pieces that I not only began to appreciate Malice Mizer again, but appreciated it as a very ambitious work of art, capable of great evolution within itself.
What impressed me the most though was not the fact that Malice Mizer was capable of evolving - but that it was able to stay the same. Throughout each era, the same feelings of longing are communicated through the lyrics - but they're each given such unique vehicles through each vocalist. On that day I gave Tetsu another try, I was simply amazed. I never thought that the flowery sentiments of MM's lyrics could ever be physically painful, or heart-rending - they were always distant, always a fantasy. But hearing him sing of autumn leaves, and autumn skies, and hearing him too lament that lovers have no chance, no reason, nothing --
I don't think I ever felt a love for music so true, as the love I felt in those moments.
my feelings in this post are so disorganized, and its likely unruly as far as intros go, but for once I can talk about MM with like minds and I am SO EXCITED!!
I hope we can all talk soon. The gushier the better.

Why indeed! It's a really fantastic combination. If made properly (more white champagne than liqueur - i'd say 1/8th of the glass should only be liqueur, for visualization purposes) they're very 'nasaly' and refreshing. The light presence of the liqueur really elevates the champagne's flavor.
I can really, really relate! I honestly feel that while Gackt and Klaha are both great vocalists, they tend to just be accessories to the music. Tetsu, however, is very much an indominable force - he makes it his own.
That, in my opinion, has always been why he's less-than-popular. People just can't handle a flavor of music with personality as aggressive as Tetsu!
