Unfortunately, no. But apparently they wanted to break away from an overly "equalitarian" society. And believe it or not, but their elders are FURIOUS, ahahahah!
That's interesting, because I've also heard that they dislike their courtroom layouts. Rather than having everyone (the judge included) sitting around a table, they want a more formal setup like the United States has.

(p.s. The word in English actually is "egalitarian" for some reason)

English is so rarely tricky as compared with French that it's nice to come across a tricky word once in a while. The French for it is "égalitaire", so for once English is tricky when French is not.

I'm over in Scenic Austria seeing the sights this week ::k::
Today's expedition: a trip down the Danube to the abbey of Melk. Pretty interesting if you're into old treasures and stuff XD

Have you tried any Austrian food? I recall someone mentioning how, when you were in France, you were afraid to try any French food.

I had some of the local food here, but I don't really travel for the cuisine, wherever I go.

Just finished up with the Vienna portion of the grand tour here. Went and saw the crypt of the Hapsburgs (and the catacombs where their viscera are stored separately ::erm::), and the imperial treasury, which had the alleged Spear of Destiny and an alleged piece of the True Cross XD Did a bunch of churches and museums and such too over the past couple days. Next up is Salzburg for a couple days, then Prague.

I was really worried Michan wouldn't remember me since I had been gone 2 weeks.

But when I went to pick her up today she came to me and purred, and even sat in my lap.
It was beautiful ::squee:: I love my little one.

*plays the organ*
I found an album called "The Christmas Organ Vol. 1" and they have my favorite Christmas songs on the organ. YES! Hopefully I can get it one day XD

My friend is so awesome, she's lending me her The Prince of Egypt DVD. I was like, "... Do you know The Prince of Egypt?" and she was all "DUH! How can you not? I even have the combo DVD pack with the Joseph movie." I can't wait to have it for my flight tomorrow ::squee::

Oh, arrrrr, me bucko is a fine lass.

I've never really been a big poster here, almost always a lurker, but still, with my 19th birthday approaching, it's mind boggling that I've been here since I was 15.

People still do that? XD I thought that went out along with "Mr. T vs..." webcomics.

Odd thing of the day: I've seen the occasional Buddhist monk in yellow robes wandering around the streets here. I wonder if someone started up a monastery.

Tripitaka T'ang explained to his disciples that a cruel little girl was persecuting the Sangha, and that chastising her would earn them much merit.

She's as likely to forget you as she is to forget she is a cat. My cat got lost for 2 months, and knew us as soon as we retrieved her.

Picked up today: the Multi-Vault ::meev::
http://www.gunvault.com/handgun-safes/multivault.html/

You open it by keying in the right code with your fingers, and it beeps and has lights and everything. Total James Bond secret agent stuff ::meev::
You're supposed to use it for guns (I guess the target audience is also into the secret agent fantasy) but I'm just putting papers and stuff in it XD

I'm late to the party but: what she said.

I only see my parents' cats every two or three years and they always seem to remember me even though I never even lived with them. They remember me because no one else pays them attention, gives them affection or plays with them (fuck, I just made myself depressed) and when I visit I spend a lot of time with them because I feel so bad for them. They don't cuddle with anyone else or sleep in their beds with them but they do these things with me because I'm the lady who spends time with them and is nice to them.

If you (Faith) were that kind of cat owner (the kind who just puts food and water out and scoops the litter box once a week [yuck] and otherwise forgets they even have a cat), Michan might forget you, but you formed a real relationship with her and I promise she missed you as much as you missed her. My cats are visibly excited when we get back from vacation and follow us around and cuddle with us constantly (even more than usual) for the first few days. I mean, my one cat (I had another cat who used to do this too and my other current cat does it occasionally) greets me at the door like a dog and meows her head off at me (like she's asking where the hell I've been) when I get home everyday - and that's only when I've been gone a few hours.

Sorry for making yet another pro-cat post but I feel like it's my mission to dispel misconceptions about them.

It's been fun watching Faith fall in love with Michan and become a cat person over the course of the past year or whatever.

Like I said to her: it's only a matter of time before she gets another, and another and another ::meev:: But she denies it all.

Spotted today:
TRY NOT TO CAUSE A FIRRE
Europe had some nice art, but the true masterpieces are right here in America ::meev::

Lol. Glad to entertain I guess. I do love my pocchari little kitty :)

That's sweet about your cats. Micha meows at me when I come home every day too. But I never figured it was because she missed ME particularly. Rather I thought it was because she'd been alone all day and wanted some company - any company really. In a way I still do feel like that. Like if she had stayed with my friends for another month she really wouldn't care when I came back because she'd have them.

But then, it's probably just my outlook on life. I see myself as wholely replacable.

@Hanachan - one more cat will be had. One. Once I figure out which country I'm going to settle down in. pbbth :P
