Holy lamp posts is visiting Seattle, we're partying like rock stars.

We're going to the Microsoft campus mall and ask the cell phone stores if they have iphones (they only sell windows phones).

Good to see you have your priorities in order. ::meev::

Be sure to send me your Tumblr when you make it so I can follow you!
Well, can you believe I went to two different Duane Reades and neither had Pizza Pringles?! Today I went to one again and still none, and Walgreens was closed for some reason. It's like we're having a Pizza Pringle shortage. :| And of course I'll send the Tumblr to you.

Sooo lucky. Btw, did you talk to Andy yet?
She knows a lot of bars where girls drink free!
I KEEP FORGETTING. I'll message her, I swear! I have so many friends recommending places and stuff to do already, I'll have to add her soon XD And compile a list of recommendations. Thanks for all the info and support. Oh faith.

I totally need that Tumblr too. Very interesting experience it is going to be!
I'm totally jealous for you to go be a -global storyteller- OHFU sounds totally fun.
THANKS  Yeah, I can't wait and I'll definitely give it to you too! I know I'll be working hard on those entries, haha. I saw my room and it's so cute with a really nice long desk. The campus has little parks and two rivers! And we have a free maid service once a week XD It's just kind of hard to believe that I'm going to live in China, I don't know! My friends are so excited for me, especially my elementary school friends since that's when it all started. I spoke to one yesterday and she said, "I can't believe the queen is finally going to her homeland!" XDD I'm also taking a photography class while I'm there so I'll definitely get to explore even for class. It looks like my school always has something planned for us and I'm excited!

... It seems like only yesterday that I was accepted into the program and now I'm leaving @__@ I'll miss posting here anyway.

Happy New Year everyone! ^_^ I hope everyone has a great time!

I know this is a step down but you'll have to make some sacrifices in the name of education, right?
You better figure out how to eat properly over there. I hear in China they rotate what foods they eat to avoid getting too much of the same pollutant built up in their system at any given time.

Congratulations on such a prestigious opportunity, Pure! Someone with such a palpable sense of passion is certainly fit to share their story with the world.

on a less consequential note:
i had dunkin donuts for the first time in 8 years today... they are so... good... my favorite is the strawberry frosted. what's yours?

Aw, I don't even know what to say about your comment, that's so thoughtful of you! ^^ Thank you, I really appreciate it ::squee:: I hope I can do a good job on it ^_^
My favorite is glaze and I sometimes eat it every other day. Maybe they'll have donuts in China, haha. I'm going to start packing all my supplies soon. I know they have American stuff there (and that there's a Walmart near the campus), but I want to be prepared first just in case. Then I'll have to take my LSAT bricks, I mean books ::meev::
I just saw your location and one of my closest friends lives in Chicago, so that's cool XD

My friend and I were talking about this lame "irresistible attraction" case from December 2012. It got me annoyed.
Full opinion here:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/118024937/Opi ... n-v-Knight

I hate the whole reason for her firing, "Oh this woman's a threat to my marriage because she's so attractive, I can't control myself so I'll just fire her."
However, my friend and I thought she should've sued for sexual harassment instead of gender discrimination. I think she would've had a good case for hostile work environment because of all his sexual comments. He even asked about her orgasms, made multiple comments about her body, and told her about his "pants bulging", what the heck! (and I know I would be totally uncomfortable if my boss told me that my clothes were distracting, omg). It's like we're back in the 1970s. I agree with Nelson's three points, but I think it would've been easier had she gone the sexual harassment route from the beginning.

"Dr. Knight acknowledges he once told Nelson that if she saw his pants bulging, she would know her clothing was too revealing."
"And at one point when Knight discussed infrequency in Nelson's sex life, he told her "that's like having a Lamborghini in the garage and never driving it."

Hmm... while the law within itself is positively ridiculous, in reading that opinion piece (only up to the third page though, because the file appears corrupt for me. sorry! if there's any other way i can read it i'd be delighted if you could link it to me), I feel this particular case has some equally ridiculous behavior on both sides of it.

During the last six months or so of Nelson’s employment, Dr.Knight and Nelson started texting each other on both work and personal matters outside the workplace.

and then, when the texts turned blatantly sexual and manipulative in nature,

Nelson does not remember ever telling Dr. Knight not to text her or telling him that she was offended

I feel that a lack of boundaries between the employer and the employed should be addressed as the central issue if one were to make a law regarding this - not unintentional sexual exploitation on the part of whomever decided to wear a pair of nice slacks to work that day.

I'm certainly not trying to blame the victim here, as I have been on the receiving end of sexual harassment myself. And even if I hadn't, I have half a brain with a cerebral cortex that I'm sure is at least slightly thicker than bath tissue, so I'd feel the very same. But I find it very careless that she'd not only begin to text her boss as a friend, but not end the personal relationship and press charges for sexual harassment once it got too personal.

Considering she's an employee though, she likely felt that if she didn't tolerate this behavior, or welcome the simple gesture of friendship when it was just that in the first place, her job would be threatened. That in mind, I can't really maintain my 'gurl pls water u doin' reaction to her half of this.

While it would inhibit the possibility of a rosy-eyed work environment where everyone is friends with their boss, considering how the position can be abused, it would be worth enforcing some law against personal/dubious interactions between employer and employed outside the workplace.

DUNKIN DONUTS!!!!1111!§1&!&!1§1§ (ok so it doesn't work with a French keyboard XD)

I know you weren't talking to me but I LOVE ALL THINGS DUNKIN DONUTS. But esp the pumpkin muffins and flavored coffee - skim milk and an equal please or it's the same as eating 3 donuts.

Actually...scratch that. I don't really like the donuts. Just the muffins and coffee.

But anyway, of COURSE there is DD in China. Except they changed the menu a bit so they have like, green tea lattés, pork donuts, and mochi rings and stuff instead of their normal fare. They failed once a decade back because they didn't properly take the cultural preferences into consideration, but after they did they were able to gain enough of a market to stay in the large cities.

Well yeah, that's the problem, they're not equal in status and never would be as long as he's her boss. She can't really "choose" in the situation since she has to worry about her job and he doesn't. I don't think she did anything ridiculous as you said, especially since she only talked about her children to him and he made the sexual comments. It's not as if she could complain to anyone either about his comments about her body or anything since he's her boss, supervisor, HR, rolled into one.

I mean, what could she do? Completely ignore his contact and possibly make him upset and lose her job (which she did anyways, thanks to him)? He had all that power over her. I think she figured that the best thing to do was text him back and hope that it was only on a friendly basis. But once it turned sexual on his part, I'm not sure what she could've done to really complain unless she sued. Who knows, maybe she thought she could put up with it. Or she didn't think it was so bad and unbearable enough to sue or maybe she didn't think she had a case or she could have feared retaliation. I hear these reasons from women all the time for why they don't do anything or for why they shrug it off.
In any case, it would be completely awkward to work for him every day and see him every day once she complained about his behavior to him. She'd have to be a tough cookie.

What I think IS ridiculous is that the dentist told her husband that he fired her to prevent a possible affair from happening down the road ("Dr. Knight told Nelson’s husband that he “feared that he would try to have an affair with her down the road if he did not fire her.”) OK, HELP! Some weirdos actually praise the dentist for "saving" two families, oh my God, what is going on with the world.

Oh yeah, here's another link for the opinion:

Totally XD I've never been to Chicago ever. She used to live in Miami Beach with me, but that was her home state and she went back after living in London and Seattle and Miami Beach again and blablabla XD.

@Faith: Thanks for the donut info ::meev:: ^^ I prefer Krispy Kreme to Dunkin Donuts, but I haven't seen any being sold here. They're way better and I always thought Dunkin Donuts donuts have been kind of not loaded with taste as the Krispy Kreme ones are, but DD is all we have here so it'll do and they're still pretty good. I remember back in Miami we had a Dunkin Donuts near my building, and I always had the donuts from there, until Krispy Kreme started selling at Walgreens and I didn't have DD after that. DD also poofed from my block. I also don't love the DD hashbrowns (they're fine) but the McDonalds is too far away to get compared with the DD half a block away from me.

YAY XD Don't think about the side-effects ::meev:: Aren't Krispy Kreme donuts so juicy and delicious? It's like they're dripping with... deliciousness!

I can't think of a name for my tumblr blog! HELP XD I can't think of anything witty or catchy or pun-y... ::erm:: Eep.

Meanwhile, I'm completely scandalized by this "Before Leonard" book. Perhaps I wasn't expecting Virginia to be such a player, I don't know if that's the word, or so flirtatious, but I relate to her and her playfulness with everyone. She was ahead of her time, totally. She could also be so silly, getting her friends jealous of all her romances and adventures, and everyone wanted to know what she was up to. I can relate to how she was "intrigued by the power she had over her admirers," it's a strange thing and a burden. I'm glad she didn't take advantage of anyone though. (My friend texted me, "I am sure Virginia never thought her every move and boyfriend would be analyzed," I know!) It's so interesting to see what other men thought of her and her sister, it's as if everyone wanted them!

However, Suitor #2 was a complete shock to me. Suitor #1 wasn't bad, the only thing strange were the rumors about his uh, tastes, but he seemed like an interesting gentleman overall. But Suitor #2 WAS HER SISTER'S HUSBAND OH MY GOD. It never turned into an affair, but there was much flirting on both sides, and I was so scandalized I put the book down! I know much of this is interpretation, but Virginia wrote how it was the one thing she regretted in life (other than not having children). After the flirting was over, Suitor #2 got jealous every time a man was interested in Virginia, he belittled them to her, and even told one to leave, and he even was upset when she married Leonard. I'm scandalized! XD

Suitor #3 wasn't a complete "suitor," but a good friend and his story was touching. Saxon was an enigmatic man who didn't speak much, had a ton of knowledge and potential but no ambition, and was just odd. He fell in love with a woman who was being courted by another man. Virginia helped him along, "She encouraged him to be tenacious in love-- better to have loved and lost than to have spent all one's days in an office and on tube trains, she advised him." (I AGREE) It seemed like the girl was going to marry Saxon but randomly said she was marrying the other man and could keep Saxon as a lover. He was depressed and didn't accept her offer, but still loved her forever and even looked after her children as his own.

He wrote THIS to her and I died:
But in case what I have written seems cold and unmindful of all you have given me I want to say that I thank you and that I always shall thank you for having taught me what love means and having given me the greatest happiness that I have ever known. There is no shadow of reproach in my thoughts of you and even if I never see you again you will always remain for me the most perfect human being that I have ever met or can hope to meet.
He died an old man with Alzheimer's and partially disabled, with his love by his side, outliving Virginia by decades. I wonder what that must be like, remembering friends who died long ago, what it must be like to remember conversations with them. That was the touching part for me, how his life changed over the years, how he spent his time alone, and how his friends grew older and fewer.

Oh man, what a day! I got a new haircut this morning and then went to The Russian Tea Room http://russiantearoomnyc.com/ with a nerd. It was so much fun! I had read bad reviews on Yelp (she suggested it though and I heard it's gorgeous), but my Kobe Burger and her Beef Stroganoff were so yummy, I don't know what they're talking about. And the place was gorgeous! It was first opened by the Russian Imperial Ballet 85 years ago @_@ We talked about lots of stuff, it was good.

It was hilarious though at one point. We got our dessert menu and the dessert "Czar's Gold" said it had 22-karat gold flakes on it, so we were like "Why not?" and when it arrived we both immediately zoomed in on it and said at the same time, "WHERE'S THE GOLD?" ::meev:: The flakes were tiny, haha, but we ate them anyways and the dessert was yummy. Doesn't that sound awful? We ate gold. XD Now I really feel like a Spanish conquistador.

Then we were allowed to explore the second floor that had a huge glass bear (that juggled balls) aquarium, and it actually spun by itself. It was so strange. There was a giant bronze tree in the back with large egg shaped leaves with different designs. We had the manager explain the history of the place to us. We left for Central Park, went to the Plaza Hotel for a break, walked down 5th avenue taking pictures, stopped inside St. Patrick's cathedral and lit candles, rode the ferris wheel in Toys R Us, and found out what M&M colors matched our personality at the M&M store. My friend said, "If only we could be tourists forever!" I guess that's how I felt, haha. I had always wanted to ride the ferris wheel in Toys R Us, and for some reason I felt like IT WAS NOW OR NEVER so we went for it and it took us around 6 times, I was surprised at how long it was. I got to be in the Toy Story car ^^

I like how when we were deciding on where to go next I said, "Let's go to the M&Ms store, YOLO! LIFE IS SHORT!" XD My color was pink because I'm so sugary sweet, and she was megamix.

I found another great article: "Where Can You Spank Your Wife?"
I love all the legal stuff involved XDD

EDIT: am I a nerd for wanting to go to The Cloisters for my birthday in a few days? Yeah. XD

I'd say check Jame but they are not really good. They do not list Bands like Penicillin or Buck-Tick. Best is to check the official web site of bands you want to see (or if it is a smaller band, ask them, some of the members are quite helpful).
