ok I'm sorry but Scarlet? Reaaaallly?
I never understood the hype about her. What is it? Her face is uneven and she has this floppy saggy girl next door quality to her.

Kiera however, yeah. I've got an asexual girl crush on her and Natalie Portman.

If by saggy, you mean, voluptuous and sexy, than I guess you're right. She's not technically the most beautiful woman in the world but she oozes sex appeal. Some people just have something about them, you know? If you're not really attracted to women, you might not be able to pick up on it.

Keira Knightly and Natalie Portman, on the other hand, have beautiful faces but are too skinny for me.

Well see I don't mean voluptuous though. I mean saggy.

I think Kristina Hendricks is voluptuous.
I've just never seen anything about Scarlet. But then I like a little allure to a woman or something.

Well, I don't see anything saggy about her at all. But we'll have to agree to disagree since attraction is a matter of taste and not subject to reason.

Christina Hendricks is pretty much the woman of my dreams. I think a lot of people like her because of her enormous breasts but I'm not really a fan of that. When I watch Madmen, what I'm hypnotized by every time she's in a scene is her face and the way her hips sway when she walks and I always think "now that's a woman."

@Iska: I never liked Keira Knightley either. It doesn't only have to do with her figure or appearance, but I'm not really a fan of her roles in general. She really annoys me with her "I'm so tough" face when she's trying to be all tough and serious (TRYING). I also don't understand the hubbub about Mila Kunis. And yeah, I don't see anything "saggy" about Scarlett Johansson.

This is saggy.

I don't like anyone in particular now though. It's not that I don't think anyone is pretty, but I don't love any of them or think they're the types of beauties to make empires fall apart.

However, one thing I keep hearing about over and over during my stay here from my friends is how they love men in suits. Now I think this we can agree on! For example I was shopping with my friends a couple of days ago, and my friend was telling me how she just loves that style and how they looked in the 1920s-1950s and when men wear suits now. I wholeheartedly agreed and told her of my wish for all of them to dress with 1800s clothing such as long coats, capes, three piece suits, the "We're off to the theater!" look, and we squeed. It'll happen.

Speaking of men back in the day (...or now), I'm reading The Voyage Out and Richard Dalloway, a man in Parliament, is a pig. He's not a horrible person and our heroine admires him, but his mindset can be piggish. His best line so far, "...and as for the whole agitation, well! may I be in my grave before a woman has the right to vote in England. That's all I say." And his wife AGREES with him.

He also says at one point, "I never allow my wife to talk politics" because he likes coming home and having her spend her day "in calling, music, play with the children, domestic duties" so that her illusions about the world won't be destroyed.

I also liked the part where the men talked about how easy child rearing was, they went "Women always exaggerate!" ::meev::

Besides providing me with Christina Hendricks' funny-as-hell snarkiness and ridiculous hotness, Madmen also covers all my Men Looking Fine in Swanky-As-Hell Suits From the 60's needs. It's one-stop shopping in televised form.

Edit: what's neat too is that most of the suits are actual vintage 1960's suits from a Hollywood costume shop that once rented out the very same suits for use in classic films and TV in the '60's.

I know, right? I was going to let you know that I found your cookie, but then I got distracted when someone brought rice crispy treats to work (topped with Cookies and Creme frosting AND crushed Oreos! It was everything that is good combined into one dessert!)

Awww, I knew you'd give it to me! ::meev:: I eat Oreos every day. Oreos are a big deal here and I need to restock on them, I only have a tube of them left along with a box of Oreo wafers.

I really can't imagine rooming with anyone here. In this building there are singles and doubles and I have a single. The doubles are small, basically my room with another giant bed in it and you share all the furniture and bathroom, and the lack of privacy kills me. I spent the weekend in my room and in silence, thinking. I read Virginia Woolf, researched for myself, edited photos, and even wrote over ten pages in my diary in one sitting. None of it was about China, but I was feeling inspired about a conversation I had almost two months ago. It's amazing to wake up at whatever time you happen to wake up, see the sun shining through your curtains, and then spend the rest of the day alone with your thoughts.

The NYU student I mentioned in the Japanese language thread messaged me telling me about his time at the gym with foreigners, and he also wrote:
Maybe from next week, I will go to gym once a week. I think a man should have a strong body, not only can be healthy, but also give their girlfriends sense of safety.
*writes an essay in reply about strong independent women who don't need no man*

Speaking of strength, I had my first guzheng class today and it was pretty intense! It's unlike anything I've encountered before, I'm not even sure how to describe it, but now I have this gigantic gorgeous instrument set up in my room. I picked it out from the others because it had an old Chinese scholar playing the guzheng carved on it, green and white strings, along with some writing I can't read. One of the interesting things about the instrument is that it's really sensitive to the touch, I can't even tap it lightly with a piece of tissue paper (which I did) without it playing. Today's class was fun and I feel as if I've learned so much already. I really want to do well! It's so different though, the hand movements, the notes, reading the notes, etc.

Afterwards though, it was THE WORST to bring it to my building. It's long, way taller than I am, heavy, had its own stools, and the wind kept pushing it back. There's a guy in my class who kept saying things like, "Just hold it like a guitar, I donno, I'm a tall guy," and I was thinking, "OK, well, I weigh significantly less than you and I'm nearly two feet shorter so your comment isn't lifting my spirits ::hora::"

Rawr. It'll be fine though, I've hauled around heavier paintings before, I can do this every week. *SNIFF*

At first I thought you were talking about the ghetto bowling place and there were, like, people who all loved it XD

You know you're in a boring state when the best place to have your party is the children's museum.

God, college kids are so bad at drinking. Not only do they drink enough to vomit, but they get so drunk that they can't even make it to the bathroom to throw up. Frickin' amatuers. They make us respectable drunkards look bad.

Even with all the drinking I doing a few years ago, I can't even remember the last time I threw up from alcohol (actually, it was probably in college), and never in my life have I puked anywhere but in a toilet. They should have a mandatory class for all Freshman on how to hold their liquor.

Edit: you're right, Faith. CT is extremely boring. I've really come to hate it here. We're talking about moving to Seattle next year and the anticipation is killing me.

@ Kyuketsuki Thank you. I arrived my dorm without any problems. I only had to fight against those VD chocolate guys that were annoyed because I used the kitchen for frying apples in order to have some Southern German carnival food, while everyone else wanted to do some presents. ::meev:: Japanese people are insane when it comes to VD XD

My VD was actually pretty cool. I just gave everybody at work an envelope filled with 3 sweets and I got some in return (hm one girl had a lot of troubles finding something for me in her pocket, I hope it was still eatable. ::kisaki::

At the evening, my boss organized a trip to Nagano and we went to the temple there, because it has a festival and he wanted us to be able to see it. Afterwards we had a dinner and while we drove back we got beer from him. He is such a lovely guy. I will miss the people here when my work is finished in April.

Glad everything worked out ok!! Sounds like you had a good time! :D I also want to apologize that my cold-congested brain translated every mention of "VD" to venereal disease, making your post probably more entertaining than it should have been. I do honestly hope, though, that your valentines day was STD free!

Watch out for Seattle- a friend of mine from Russia who lives there says that the place is often colder than her hometown in Siberia. ::hora:: Make sure you like winter before you pack! ::erm::

Well, at least they have a solid opinion~ But considering some of the programming choices available in America, I'd think that watching wood stacking and fire buring would be a decided improvement O_O

I hate the freshmen here sometimes because at times they walk through the hallways at 6pm yelling, "I'M DRUNK!" But they've stopped lately so that's good! I think it's just a few of them though who act like total weirdos, stomping in the hallways and all.

You're not the type who humiliates others and turns into a terrible person, but ever since I've been little I've been exposed to those types of drunks and it disgusted me so much that when I was a child I promised myself that I don't even want to be anywhere near the point of losing control of myself. I've seen people that I look up to and love turn into idiotic and publicly humiliate me and others and what's worse is that they later don't even remember what they did.
