right? XD
That was my first reaction too - "Salad? pfft. Salad is lettuce."
But Japanese do weird stuff with salads so it might be more complicated than all that.
Or he was on a diet.

Also, I find it interesting that Bel Aire was to be shot in Paris.
It would have turned out very differently if that had gone through...

Don't know if it would have been better, without that "far away countryside France suspended in another time" feel. It would have been difficult to film something like this in the Champs-Élysées with cars and normal people around and this bunch of Japanese weirdos in historical French costumes XD

Contrary to expectation that you would follow the pop track you had started with “Ma Chérie”, the heavy atmosphere even content-wise was unexpected.
M: We didn’t want our major debut to be a pop song.
I love how they were already shocking everyone at their major debut: I imagine Columbia managers going like "fuck! we signed them for pop French songs and they come out with something like THIS?"

Quite true. Moreover eccentrics make the French uneasy, ahahahah!

I dunno. Some of them might come to joke about the costumes with them.
I was carrying a COUCH down the street and this old man got in my way and started making jokes about it ::hora::
It was like srsly old man? I'm DYING here!!! Heavy XD

Either way, it would indeed be funny to see them try filming in Paris.
I do think the castle in the banlieue was nice though.
The only thing that would have been maybe better was filming the fortune teller bit in the catacombs with the bones.

PS. MissUMana, I meant to tell you. There aren't bones in most of the illegal catacombs. I didn't see any.

OMG, no! Don't even mention them, not after I heard in detail about le gibet de Montfaucon on Sunday. Enough to have horrible nightmares night after night!

If you'd like to know about what was going on in 18th century Paris, and have nightmares, I would advise you read Jean-François Parot's novels (they're all in pocket books, the 10/18 collection). I read the first and could take no more, ahahahah!

@Helkar: I recommend doing a search for the 3 previous MM photo threads too. A lot of great rare stuff has been posted here over the years.

Edit: oh, and thanks for the translation, Faith.

Mana seems to be pretty introverted. I wonder how he found it within himself to do all the crazy things he did just because he wanted to. I guess this is a huge part of his appeal.

Thanks for scans beautifulmen and for the translation faith.

You two made me want to visit Paris again, I always regretted not having visited the catacombs. And didn't know about le gibet de Montfaucon, I'm reading something (in French) right now, from what I can tell, that's one of the most terrifying places I'd ever read about... (I want to see it D: )

Thank you, I will. I most of all enjoy all the oldest MM scans, from memoire and Voyage times. I's amazing that there are dedicated users who scan the old and hard-to-find materials, saving them from oblivion. Especially now that most of VK fanbase is made of people who easily forget bands from 2 years ago to praise only the newest.

Just so you know, Helkär, I can't stand anything morbid and you'd have to knock me out before you made me visit the catacombs.
Thank God you can't see le gibet de Montfaucon, there's no trace left. It was not far from Notre-Dame, near what is now le canal St Martin.

Like game production? (lol)
M: Yeah, I’d like to make a game. I have a lot of ideas, but it’s impossible in Japan (lol). I’d like to make a completely brutal one (lol)

Like a massacre? (lol)
M: Yes, like that, brutal. Fundamentally real time brutality would be good. (lol)

Criminals are bad yo (lol)
M: That can’t be done can it, a society based game (lol) If you do something based on real situations it’d be a problem. I’m not like that.

But a brutal type “Malice Game” would be nice! (lol)
M: Well, me, you know, I like to run with my own interests. And I’d like to say to Konami, “Hurry up and release Scramble!” (lol) I really like it but they don’t have a household version. I wonder if it wouldn’t be best to just say it straight out to them…

hahahahaha I lol'd so much at this part! When the interviewer said "-criminals are bad yo!" I felt he was like "Mana sama you are a sociopath!" or something XDDD

Thank you very much faith for the translations <3 I hope you don't mind if I translate it in spanish in order to share it with spanish speakers in my blog by crediting you and -scape-

It comes from the Bara No Seidou era, when they come to *that* church to do the shooting session for the booklets, related media, and for the "Cathédrale de la rose" Book.

You can watch it in the Bara no Kiseki DVD -> http://www.scape.sc/release.php?id=225 (it is my favourite DVD, because all the unique footage it have, the newspapers about Gackt when leave the band and the Kami's death... and a lot more, a sort of MM complete History).
