lol 10 pages an hour? That's like, dinosaur pace. I'm not sure exactly what it would be but try a page a minute...unless you're talking about placing the text and everything too.
Yeah, I don't have any staff so I have to erase out the old text and all that myself too XD I guess if you're working in a place they just have a full-time photo shooper for that? I've actually been consciously trying to work more efficiently than the previous volume but there's probably only so much you can do without for-real division of labor.

EDIT: not that I believe 1/minute is right either, that's like 2 whole books in a day XD

Yeah, a pro translator could probably do a couple manga a day. I mean, the people who do One Piece are just fan subbers and the video/manga always come out less than 24 hours after they're released.

EDT:

http://thoughtsontranslation.com/2011/0 ... s-per-day/

Looks like the minimum is usually 2000 a day. This is the second site to say that. So 250 words per hour at least for an average work day of 8 hours. Just from picking up my manga that was 10 pages for 250 words...but it would have taken me only 10 min to translate. I think it depends on the manga.

EDITED: so what you're saying is, my guess of 10/hour was exactly right. Awwwe yeah XD

I still say you should be watching One Piece in French though. I mean, as long as you're watching One Piece in the first place and not the classics XD

I happen to really like their Japanese voices. And not like the sound of French - like it really annoys me. Why ruin something I like with annoying French? PLUS I don't wanna wait for a French dubbed version to come out. Most French don't either so they use the English subbed too.

Ugh UGH! So I have this friend who I'm pretty sure likes me in a romantic way at this point (after the way he's been acting these past few weeks), and he said we could go to lunch if I wanted. I say "okay" because I'm in the area and I haven't had lunch yet, and so we meet up.

But he did something at the end of it that bothered me! The waitress comes with the bill and sets it on the table. He puts his card on it and I pick it up to see how much I'm going to pay. I put it down as I get my card and he takes the bill thing away from me and I'm like, "Wait, let me put my card." He doesn't address me and so I put my card down on it, and HE TAKES IT OFF. He said he's got this, but I was like, "But you paid for most of it last time because I didn't have cash on me." He says, "Oh yeah." But he keeps it on his side of the table, takes my card away, and keeps my card too, PUTTING IT IN HIS POCKET (but I guess that was a joke?) I was like, "What are you doing? Let me pay!" And instead of addressing me he starts telling me this story about Putin and the NFL. I say over and over again "Let me pay" and he talks over me the entire time. He calls the waitress and gives her his card and he pays.

It was like one of those horror stories! This wasn't like "Oh let me treat you to lunch Adela" or "let's go on a date." Ugh, he totally wasn't a gentleman (STRICKLAND) and he wasn't "taking charge" (as cerceaux put it) because he totally ignored me and talked over me, even when I said, "You're talking over me." What was that?? I also don't like his generalizations of feminists and some comments he's made, but it wasn't that big of a deal to me. What really got to me though was that he talked over me.

Anyway, my friend Laura made up some titles for my life:
"Romance of the Three MEN."
"Dream of the Red Chamber of MEN."
And I said, "Journey to the MEN."
Ohohohhoohoh, we're geniuses *wipes tear* "MEN of the Marsh" or "Water MEN" don't sound good though.

There is a TV show based on it called ""New Fantastic Story of 105 Men and 3 Women"...so

"New Fantastis Story of 105 MEN and 3 MORE MEN"?

Dude, just enjoy your free lunch even if the rest irks you. Men are good for that (and some not much else).

I don't know, it's not as catchy XD

have you no pride? XD Not only that, but I wouldn't just use men for free meals, especially if they're rude the way he was. He invited me to go to the movies tomorrow and I said no. Oh no, free movie tickets, GONE FOREVER ::meev:: He's not a bad guy, but that was super rude and weird and I don't like not being taken seriously. I liked him better as a friend ::batsu::

My Shanghai BFF told me she had a dream that we (NYU Shanghai peeps) were told we had a final project that we had to finish in Shanghai for a day. So we were flown out there and we thought, "Well we have 24 hours in Shanghai..." and decided to instead have all the fun we could in those hours instead of doing that project. AW~! I was like, "I'd do anything to go back to my room WAHH~ ::weepy::" A lot of my friends tell me how going to a garden will get them emotional because it looks like ECNU's campus or they wake up wanting to text me, "Let's go to Yuyuan gardens!" and realizing they can't do that.

It's just that feeling in my room that was SO good. After morning class I'd walk into the room, and everything was so bright and fresh because of the maids cleaning the floor and opening the curtains. The sun would be shining through my window and I loved taking off my shoes at the door and throwing myself on my big bed and lying there completely in peace.

We were at the district attorney's office (SO COOL) the other day, and one of my fellow LatinoJustice scholars asked, "So how was China?" I said, "Oh it was so wonderful! A dream come true!" After talking to him for a few minutes he was all, "WAIT, WHO ARE YOU? Not only are you living your dreams, but you got to exhibit your photos and donate them to NYU's new Shanghai campus where they'll always be and next time you go you can see them??" I said, "Yeah!" but I never thought of it that way, haha. I guess a bit of myself will always be there.

I was invited to a Picnic yesterday evening and met my friend's friend from Portugal. He told me about a movie called 'Kumaré' - some Indian guy grows up in the United States and sees the rise of yoga and gurus and all that, and decides to do a documentary. He basically finds out they're all fake. So he goes to India to see if it's really all that different and poses as a guru. Somehow he gets followers XD

It sounds really interesting. Now I have to figure out how to download it...

Reminds me of the Beatles' trip to India, ahahahah! I'm sure all the famous ones are fake.

Aw Emi, I'm sorry :( Missumana is totally right and I'm really sorry (I know people don't take fish seriously as pets, but I still get emotional whenever I think of Baby Jones) about your loss! :(

Off topic, but I told my weird lunch story that I posted about earlier to one of my closest friends ever and she got so defensive over what I said that it sounded like she knew the guy, when she doesn't. She started raising her voice and said I was overreacting and said he was trying to be the man and he was being a gentleman and that I needed to accept it gracefully. I donno, "being the man" to me doesn't mean "ignoring the woman when she says something at least ten times and talking over her."

It sucks that she was so adamant to defend him and I don't understand why I need to say "No" more than twice to be taken seriously, but she insisted that it had nothing to do with respect or being taken seriously. I'm not sure what I had to do for him to stop telling his story to at least respond and it was SO strange for me to experience that. He also laughed and said I sounded like a spoiled child when I kept asking him seriously for my card back over and over. I guess taking my card was supposed to be a joke for me to "fight" with him over, but it made me uncomfortable and we're not particularly close for me to trust him with that. He gave it to me after we left the restaurant. I was just so flabbergasted that it was happening to me...

Then she started doing the whole "If Strickland did this then..." thing and I was like, "(WTF) He would at the very least acknowledge me when I insist and ask me 'Are you sure?' or SOMETHING." Geez louise, I can't even believe I had to say that to my friend. She asked me, "If Strickland wanted to treat you out would you say no" "If your friends wanted to pay for you would you say no" etc etc. It's like she thinks I have something against people paying for me when I don't, it's just that I didn't like the way I was treated. ::bleh::

I'm so sorry. But I'm sure it's not that - don't blame yourself. Animals die sometimes without warning...it's the risk of having them.

Today I went out to dinner with friends, and then joined my friend and another group of people for drinks. On the way to the metro I was talking to my friend and her friend, Lauren, about how I dripped snot all over my cat today. My weekly cold came a couple days early. And I turn around and there's this guy right behind me. So I ask in French

Me: Can I help you?
Him: I'm just listening
Lauren: We don't really want to be listened to. Good evening sir.

Like seriously???? Because we're speaking English it gives people a right to listen in on us? Some other dude had interrupted us and started to say something in English too but then changed his mind. How weirdly rude :P

Yeah, there are two kinds of people in this world, eavesdroppers and non-eavesdroppers XD And speaking as the latter: if you're one of those weirdos listening to conversations at other tables or wtvr, cut it out XD

::squee:: FINALLY REUNITED WITH STRICKLAND ::squee::

You don't understand how HAPPY I am, oh my God! I made sure to look really cute ::batsu:: It was so surreal to see him at Washington Square Park and hold him again! He didn't miss Tennessee at all and so he asked me everything about my summer XD We were with Kevin since it was Kevin's last day until he's off to Korea and it was wonderful!

We decide to grab a little something to eat and walk through these street markets and it was so much fun to walk and talk! We don't find anything suitable to eat so we turn a corner and start walking down that street. As we're getting near this pizza place, this old lady pops out of nowhere and calls out to us. She's wearing baggy clothes with flower patterns, has white/blondish hair, sandals, and a bag of toothbrushes in her pocket. She looked really strange.

She holds on to my arm and asks Strickland if he can see this newspaper box that's two blocks away. He looks and asks if she wants The Village Voice and she says yes. He's super polite and goes off to get it. Meanwhile, she asks me and Kevin what we study and we talk. She says, "I think your friend didn't find the newspaper and he's going somewhere else to get one." I look and Strickland's flying back and says, "They ran out of the Village Voice, but I got you the Epoch Times." Inside I think this is strange, but Strickland is so polite and takes her seriously. We talk and she tells us she's a playwright. She said that when she saw us walking down the street we looked like an interesting bunch ::kisaki::

She asks us if we want to go see the gardens in her building, and I'm thinking this is really odd, but we go ahead and escort her slowly to her building and people take pictures of us. My initial reaction in my head was "What are we doing?? What if she wants to kill us?" but Strickland hooks up his arm to hers and I go with the flow. We go inside the building and she leads us to these gardens and they're gorgeous!

She tells us about her life as a playwright, her childhood, her parents, and countless things and advice! She loves writing plays and told us about musicals from the past, musical composition, obscure plays, actors and I felt very special to listen to that. She thinks Strickland is "solid" and has everything going for him and that he "passed the test" because of the way he got her the newspaper, and I had this nerdy grin on my face. She grilled him whenever he was unsure of an answer, haha, and he'd whisper to me, "I'm so bad at words" when he made a mistake XD. I knew she was probably lonely and lived with no one and she said she had rehab next week.

Strickland and I escorted her inside the building again. She said over and over how pretty I am and stopped and looked into my eyes, saying, "Wow, look at the color of your eyes! They're so unique! Boys need to give you more compliments on them!" and I laughed XD We put her inside the elevator and went off for more adventuring...

I can't believe all of that happened and we talked for hours! I did not expect my day to go that way and I love it when that kind of thing happens ^____^ I'm just super happy and it was what I needed after this past week.

I totally approve of giving that lady the Falun Gong newspaper XD
Did you go see the World Famous Street Basketball court down there? ::hora::
I don't know what that is ::batsu:: I don't think he purposely gave her that newspaper because of Falun Gong, but I know, how can he give her something so against the ideals of our motherland China?

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 5753_n.jpg
That's the only picture I took of the old lady experience haha. I didn't want to take out my camera as she was talking and point it at her XD
TBH it reminded me of Beauty and the Beast when the movie starts and an old poor haggard lady came to the prince and offered him a rose for shelter and he's all "GO AWAY!" Except Strickland's not like that XD I guess I'm not so trusting, but I was thinking, "Oh my god what if she wants to turn him into a mannequin to act out all of her plays like a puppet?!" ... Yeah ::meev:: I don't know, but I trusted it would be OK in the end and I really admire how polite Strickland was, without a hint of insincerity or mocking of the lady. Maybe it's partly a Southern thing, I don't know. He's from California but after his parents divorced he was moved to Tennessee by his mom.

Anyways, I'm SO glad that entire day happened because for that week I felt like I was being tested and all this stuff kept being thrown at me constantly, from morning to night, and it would have been so easy to do the wrong thing. It's amazing how easy doing the wrong, quick thing is @.@ I couldn't imagine meeting Strickland after if I had done that, I donno, I would have felt awful. I'm so glad I overcame all of that and kept on being the nerd I actually am ^^

*back to studying* XD

You never noticed? XD All the other newspapers will have headlines like "DOW FALLS 10000 POINTS, PRESIDENT FLEES COUNTRY, MILITARY TAKES OVER", and Epoch Times will say "CHINA CONTINUES DISRESPECTING FALUN GONG" ::meev::

Or did you mean the basketball thing? I dunno, it's like right there by the park, some sort of b-ball court and it's famous or something.

I hope this next year is full of torrid romances and furtive baozi picnics in Central Park PE XD

My friend confessed that he really likes me. He said "love" but I feel like that's such a strong word...so I'm going with really likes. He just felt it needed to be said. But he also said he's happy being friends because he understands I'm not available...

I'm really happy the people around me accept my asexuality. I haven't experienced any of the discrimination that I've read is common. In fact, the only sexual harassment I've experienced was when some gay loser pick on me because he thought I wanted to sleep with Kaya (lol - what girl would?)Life is so peaceful without all that stuff. Yall should give it a try sometime ;)

Actually yeah, that's an interesting question. Do any girls or guys I guess find Kaya sexually attractive?
