Maybe I'll buy it, but only because Dada is best live, and the current set is ok.

Not being a big fan of Malice Mizer's, I don't remember watching that live moment before. Seems to me the key to this is the "Dies Irae" at the end. Hinting at a divine punishment for breaking all the rules?
And it's the version of Street of Alice that I like :) Yeah, I'm pretty OK this this set list, and I like watching Dada live. I also like the clothes they're wearing :)

I was so confused watching 目醒めの螺旋... The Dies Ires is warped, which is kind of fitting as that is latin for Day of Wrath. After watching Croix from Voyage (which I like more than →>>8<<← ), I feel like they want to show how masks change the people wearing them and allow them to do they wouldn't normally do. (Though they were using the power sanders before they put the masks on...)

I guess it does tie back into Velvet Eden with the obsession with masks~ ::shifty::

About the Malice Mizer performance, I haven't really thought much about it because that's one of my least favorite parts of that DVD (That part is for talking about how awesome Illuminati is live), but when I think about it I assumed they sacrificed that innocent virgin and fed on her soul ::mana:: or something (wouldn't suprise me with Mana...) and the masks show them "injecting" her XD

I was happy to see Velvet Eden will release a live DVD, I mean the PV's aren't that high quality, they might aswell give us livematerial. (have to say though, I'm impressed Dada moved the whole selfie-phenomena into musicvideos....)

This is all very interesting.

It's hard to be your true self wherever you live, but maybe it's even harder in Japan, so the masks could express this too. The essence of VK was transgression, and those guys did go far, especially live.

I thought it sounded a bit GPK XD But I love it... best thing Chro has composed, I listened to it all the way back to my dorm, which takes an hour XD

It's definitely one of his better compositions, but for best, I'd have to give that to Sea of Blood as a personal preference d(^__^)

That being said though, I felt like Dada's vocal line wasn't that great in this one ^^; It wasn't really all that memorable to me and there were a couple places where I felt it clashed with the music. It wasn't as disappointing as Luzifer, but this one is definitely all about the background music for me

Velvet Eden's new track: Jailed Prince

The lyrics are in English, and it has some cool lines :)

Make of it what you will; this sounds to me like it would be a better live track than a studio track.

Remember the good old days when artists would be releasing stuff and we'd all rush over to CD Japan or Amazon.JP and preorder whatever it was without so much as a preview? We'd get our CDs and then be thrilled/generally satisfied, put the CD on repeat and actively look forward to the next release. I can't think of many active bands that I would do that for lately. I don't think I've really felt that way since Nocturnal Opera, maybe even Beyond the Gate. After listening to VE's latest songs, I'm very skeptical whether I'd get a new CD from them or not...

(Admittedly, I still preorder Schwarz Stein/Hora CDs and eventually end up getting Moi dix Mois CDs, but I don't even own any CDs by ZIZ...)

Yeah, but we've been burned a lot of times since then XD
I still preorder M10M and Hirasawa's stuff, and Kozi's things even though I know that's usually a letdown.

So I went to the BlackLips event last night, here's a tiny livereport;

This was one of those 100bands-playing-events, so Velvet Eden didn't get on the stage until last, which was 4h after Ikebukuro Cyber opened...
I didn't really care for the other bands, but I sort of enjoyed THE SOUND BEE HD's performance (they played a song called answer which is stuck in my head...) and Rose Noire was also pretty interesting (they were a lot better live than recorded).

I was kind of bored just waiting when I all of a sudden see Dada coming out from backstage to sell Behind the Tales, followed by Chro. Dada had a somewhat...different outfit. Acctually they both had the same "clothes", it was like a fullbody suit in pleather, with tiny holes in, thong, corset, ruffle from DVD cover and those wide legs Dada wears attached with a garterbelt.
Dada disappeared before I came to the merchtable, so Chro was my cashier XD he explained in english how I should fill out the ticket for taking a picture with them afterwards, he seems nice.

The setlist for the live was:
Street of Alice
Toxic Queen
MC with Rouge d'noir
One caress
Jailed Prince
MC with Girl's End
Unknown
Confession of Mask

Street of Alice felt like another new version, it sounded mostly like the old one but the end was like the 2.0version. The songs sounded like they do as released/demo, so nothing out of the oridinary. Dada held some pretty long MC's though, didn't get it all but it was talk about the T-back (Chro said it was tight). Dada also talked a bit about the photosession afterwards (those of us who bought the DVD would get to take a picture later that Dada will retouch VE/Gothic:ish, and that they've been doing some new songs. As you can see in the setlist I've marked one song unknown, I seriously didn't recognise it! It was very rock for VE and I'm pretty sure I haven't heard it before... but I don't think Dada mentioned that there being a NEWNEW song... very confused about that...

After the live we had to wait for a bit (they kept selling the DVD, or at least hoped for customers). It was so fun/cute, Chro went all the way around to get to their merch table, but Dada was a bit lazy, thinking it's faster to CRAWL UNDER THE TABLE! So me and my friend sat on the floor right infront of their table and all of a sudden Dada comes from the backstage area, and goes down on the floor and goes under their merch table. Yeah, that looked kind of amusing. I brought a pen, so I acctually went over there when it was empty from costumers and asked if Chro would sign it for me, he seemed a bit confused at first, don't know if they're not supposed to...but come on, can't be that hard.... he did and asked if I didn't want Dada to sign it aswell, and lucky me, Dada just appeared again so I could ask him aswell, and he did. Dada was a bit stiff....when I asked he just grabbed my pen, and when I said thanks he just smiled...(and he didn't mention my legs, which I put a lot of time and blood on (I'm so bad with needles), I made a pair of those wide socks/legs he has to match them).
As for the photos, we had to wait, then Chro called out numbers and took us backstage one by one, and there Dada was....with a natural looking Kiwamu! I was a bit disapointed because I wanted to have Dada in my picture, but he was taking the picture with his phone, so Kiwamu asked if I wanted to stand alone or with Chro.... (kind of scary, they had this really strong light and then Kiwamu stood there, just watching, without make up...) I felt very uncomfortable XD I wanted to say something to Dada but yeah that situation was just too weird XD so I just said thanks and left when the photo was taken XD

Next live in on wednesday, let's see what happens then!

Very interesting report, thanks!

Dada is just as I imagine him, and I wouldn't feel all that comfortable with him either. Or I'd just shrug and decide he's not to be taken seriously anyway.

Nice to know Chro is rather nice. Maybe he's not comfortable with Westerners, wondering what they're going to ask for next? :P

Awesome! Sounds like a fun show, thanks for the report! =-D

As for the new song, was it Luzifer? They've been hyping that one a bit and I'd be surprised if they didn't play it at the show :)

Hehe I finally cleared that out yesterday at their live gig... I'm kind of bad at the new songs, which I don't hear anything special in, as Luzifer and Jailed Prince. SO, the song my head named Jailed prince was acctually Luzifer and the unknown was acctually Jailed prince. So sorry about that.
A tiny livereport about last nights gig will be up later.

Live report! (again this is copied from what I wrote for a group)

Last night Velvet Eden had their somewhat "secret" livegig at club Chop in Ikebukuro.
I don't mean secret as in no one can find out, but it was a bit weird they didn't promote it until really late (I found out last week).
I'm not that good at finding directions, acctually I'm worthless at it. I'm still getting lost in my hometown, that's how bad it is. So when I'm supposed to find my way around Ikebukuro, where I haven't spent that much time, well to put it simple, I'm fucked.

Me and my friend had a hard time finding the club, and an even harder time finding the station on our way back (yeah, not kidding).

But we got there first! *yay* Not that lines matters in Japan :P

Chop was small, but not as tiny as Ikebukuro Cyber (thank god), and they even had soap in the bathroom! *yay* (Cyber doesn't...)

There were 4 bands playing, カルぺディエム (Carpe Diem), ジグラット (jiguretto), ロクダマカルタ (Rokudamakaruta) and Velvet Eden.

This time Velvet Eden wasn't last out....just 3rd :P The first band to play was Carpe Diem. Never heard of them before, but the vocalist (who also calls himself Chro) made me think of Tetsu from first era Malice Mizer. He had that kind of hysterical voice going on, and their music was kind of okey. The second band was one of those amazingly random bands...which makes me laugh on the inside because bands like that would seriously not work on any other place than Japan. The singer looked like some sort of Marilyn Manson copy, while the basist and guitarist looked very visual kei. The guitarist was really pretty, with pink pigtails (at first I thought he had a wig because that might have been the most perfect pigtails I've seen, plus he had pink hair, but then I noticed it was his real hair which really impressed me XD) Their music varied quite a lot, some songs were kind of hard, and some more regular rock. They were kind of fun watching from the back because they had a lot of set movements for the fans (love seeing how synchronized everyone's moving at gigsXD).
Then it was time for Velvet Eden, well before that they sat by their merchtable as usual (from what I saw they didn't sell anything though...). I was sitting in the back amazingly bored when I just randomly looks up and see Dada and Chro passing me.
This stage didn't have a real curtain so while we were waiting by the front of the stage we could see Chro walking around, setting up his keyboard and guitar (fun leg-entertainment).
Their opening song is not something I recognise, I wonder why they haven't released that as a demo on youtube... anyway, the setlist was just like last week, exactly the same, so was their outfits.
I've also finally figuered out the mysterious song XD That was my head being retarded and mixing up Luzifer for Jailed Prince... so no new song, the song I meant was Jailed Prince.
This MC was a bit fun (I also acctually understood more of this than at the gig last week). Dada mentioned he had a hard time grasping things when he has his gloves, so he had his stage pass stuck to his ass, and a girl seriously got to remove it for him and then it was given to Chro, who put it on his mic XD They also mentioned they'll play in Osaka in December, and that they haven't decided on Tokyo yet, so it will come later.
One funny thing was that one of the women in the audience shouted kawaii at Dada at some point during the MC and he began to laugh, saying he's 44, but thanks XD

When Velvet Eden's session was over Dada got back to their merchtable, and since it was empty I decided to go over there. I wanted to thank him for this evening and for Velvet Eden, because it's been a HUGE part of my life since I was 16. He didn't really seem to care that much though. This made me feel extremly embarrassed to be honest, and I regret saying anything at all....
Dada then began to shake hands with those who came to see Velvet Eden, (even me:P), and then Chro showed up out of nowhere, he was really kind.
Then I decided to go, partly because I had early class and partly because I felt really weird after that to be honest.
I might not see Velvet Eden again since they don't have a date for the coming Tokyo live and I'm leaving in February, would've been fun to hear some other songs though :P

Tomorrow I'm going to Khaos Rave Decadence to see Schwarz Stein for the last time ;_; and on saturday I have a ticket to see Közi (I just randomly got the ticket when he announced the new cd, have to get that *_*) so a fun weekend ahead of me.

Typical Dada, I'm afraid...

I'm sorry to hear Dada was so distant to you :( You kind of just have to ignore Dada's attitude sometimes ^^;
(And hope that he gets in contact with Kalm again and gets him to write some new tracks...)

The new tracks just aren't doing it for me, unfortunately. I've tried to keep an open mind and give them some time to grow on me, but I'm really not liking them. They're just unmemorable and not catchy; I even like the Witch on Flames CD and Dada's Masquerade Alone and Duel d'Amour arrangements over the new songs. If we could just get more tracks like Unhappy Birthday and Marionette's Waltz, I think I'd be a lot more optimistic.

Eh maybe he was just in a bad mood. I wouldn't take it too badly - his reaction doesn't mean anything.
Besides, it's probably better if he doesn't remember you or feel connected to you. For you.
I mean he's already affecting you negatively Miss Where are my Pants
He hasn't unfriended me yet and I'm mildly surprised...*idunno*

Personally I'm completely indifferent to all of the songs since VE got back together. It's not the same anymore. I'm not sure bringing Kalm back would have a similar effect/results at this point.

I know! I even went "without pants" to their last event for his sake Ò__Ó ->http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z428/igyou_hime/CIMG4999_zps5ddf440c.jpg and put an effort in the lace thingies ;_;

and eventhough Chro was kind, I do prefer Kalm's music...the old. I really can't understand all the new fans who doesn't seem to like the old stuff... Kalm era is obviously the best, but I really like the second (which I seem to be pretty alone with). I even thought of bringing my Kumo Onna demo to SS signing event but then Hora might slap me XD...or get a heartattack from overdose of bad memories (that I'm guessing he had in VE since he doesn't want to talk about it XD)
