Did you play the original Gamecube game? I liked the open-ended structure of that one better. In this one, if you want to go back for secrets you have to play the whole half-hour mission over again - yeah right :P

I got sick of DKC and started "Wonderful 101" instead. Still learning the ropes but it's pretty fun so far.

I never played that one but I've been told that I should. Is it not broken down into mini-missions like this one? Some of the items are hard to find/obtain and yeah, if you accidently beat the level, you have to do it again and look for collectables... I'm going through looking for some of the Boos and gems that I've missed along the way while I recharge for this boss fight. I've powered everything up as high as I can so money means nothing to me ::cred::

I have to find out if the original is on the Wii store... I never got a Gamecube and I bought the Wii in Japan so I can't play American games on it unless I get them from the online store... ::cop:: But it was completely worth it for JoySound Karaoke! ::k::

Nope, it's just one big house that you explore however you want.

Well, these days you could probably get an original Wii for like $20 at GameSLOP XD

I went there to get the latest Casltevania game because I thought their preorder bonus was better than the one at Amazon ::gaku:: It was just a different costume, but if you have to pick...

Is the WiiU backwards compatible? I've been eyeing it because I've been told that Wind Waker is actually very good and you know, HD and all ::squee::

Speaking of HD, I got Final Fantasy X HD and I'm in love all over again! This was the last Final Fantasy game that I truly enjoyed and I can't wait to see some of my favorite moments in HD and the new content and all that jazz (It also came with FFX-2 which I played for all of about an hour back in the day and then I stopped... Who knows, I might try it again, but I just couldn't get into the plot, or see how Yuna progressed from a Grand High Summoner to a diva pop singer)

It's backward compatible with Wii only. The old Wii was backward compatible with Gamecube, but they dropped that in the new generation. But hey, Gamecubes are dirt cheap these days anyway too.

Now you know what's expensive? They had a Super Nintendo for like $200 in Book-Off. As they say in the vernacular: "LOL"

Not to mention most of the best titles are available on the online shopping site and great prices! ::cred::

Hahahaha! The sad thing is, the SNES is STILL better than most of the next gen consoles out now in terms of construction and game library... There are many SNES consoles that still work perfectly today, while a large number of PS4/Xbox One/PS3/Xbox 360 didn't even survive the opening week... And of course there's the NES...

Got together with some buddies over the weekend and busted out Mariokart 64 ::meev:: We had chips, soda and chocolate chip cookies my mom made, fresh from the oven. For dinner we cooked chicken nuggets.

I was told recently I'm actually 29 y/o, but I SERIOUSLY doubt it.

I got Mario Kart 8 a couple days ago because it came with a free game XD Surprisingly, I actually like it. Mario Kart Wii was insultingly bad so I'd written the series off, but 8 is fun enough. Just what I needed, more time sinks ::meev::

I'm in love with the twisted mansion level! The level designs and music are really innovative this time around, and not in the annoying way that they have been in the past. I'm also glad to see Nintendo putting so much effort into graphics! Do you know if there is going to be a way to play together with people who are on 3DS? (And also with the next Smash Bros.?)

But there's not going to be a 3DS MK8, is there?
Ooh, whoops! I was thinking about Mario Kart 7! Just one number off! ::meev:: Still, once more games are released on the Wii U, I'll end up getting one, and I'll get the new Mario Kart at that time. I've only played it at a friend's house. (Until Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 get official release dates, I'm more excited about the Wii U than the PS4.)

BTW, is anyone going to be playing Legend of Zelda: Knights of Hyrule? I'm not sure if I'm excited about this or not... It could be fun if you like the Dynasty Warriors/三國無双 style, but I think it looks a bit much for Zelda...Can't say I remember being overly swarmed in Zelda, just frustrated at never having enough keys ::gaku::

Absolutely, I want to play as Agitha XD

Picked up "Shovel Knight" this weekend, which isn't quite as extraordinary as they're all saying but it's pretty fun. I also got "Fishing Resort" for Wii as a present, which sounds ridiculous but it's actually super cute XD
Kind of lost motivation on Mario Kart after unlocking all the characters and doing the 100cc races, but wtvr ::kisaki::

I'M PLAYING THE BEST GAME EVER. MY DREAM GAME!

I enjoyed Assassin's Creed III, but it wasn't my favorite despite the new abilities and actions you could do. One of the main reasons was Connor, the protagonist. He was as emotional as a stone and his voice actor wasn't very good either.

Ezio from ACII, AC:B, AC:R was much more likeable. He had the Italian accent, he was one of "the boys," getting into silly trouble, tried to be smooth with girls, he had a girlfriend eventually, he had a nice family, etc. You started off ACII in Florence with him being teased by one of the Pazzi boys and getting into a rumble with his older brother. Then his older brother tried teaching Ezio how to talk to girls and Ezio manages to be successful with Cristina, but her father thinks he's a good for nothing young man so he's always running away from pots and pans and insults. He and his brother go around Florence, climbing rooftops, talking about how lucky they are, and being lectured by their father. Ezio is endearing and charismatic at that point.

Then one day Ezio is told his father and brothers are to be executed (because of their Assassin affiliations) and you see them all hang, while his mother and sister go into hiding somewhere. It begins as a quest for revenge, but he slowly learns about the Templars ::batsu:: You actually felt sorry for Ezio and over time you see him mature and become more serious and lose all of his innocence because of his line of work, but he always has a sense of honor and justice. You are also able to access "happy" memories or memories from his past that aren't so happy, such as burying his family in secret with Cristina or getting his first kiss on the cheek from Cristina. Then he has to give her up forever.

AC:III was different because you start out as Connor's father, Haytham, and you grow to really like Haytham. He seems like a good, charming, trustworthy British man and he fell in love with a Native American woman who becomes the mother of Connor. BUT THEN YOU FIND OUT A SHOCKING FACT!

Anyway, Connor sees his mother burned alive and his quest starts there. Connor is always searching for peace, fighting for justice, etc, but he comes off as naive. He was on the Patriots side, with George Washington, but what he doesn't realize until later on is that people like George Washington didn't care about the Native Americans either and can be just as prejudiced and "OK" with only allowing white property-owning men to vote and for allowing slavery.

AC:III challenges the romantic ideas Connor and we as 'Muricans have about our founding fathers. For the series, it challenges our idea that Templars = Evil because of how much you grew to like Haytham. I like Haytham more than Connor! There was even a chance for the two reconciling, but having power got to Haytham and he became a cold man. The chance was blown too by Connor choosing to stay with George Washington even knowing that George Washington was the one who gave the order that would change Connor's life FOREVER. I'm not sure why having that revealed didn't make Connor even flinch.

The big weakness in AC:III was Connor. He suffered a loss too, but you didn't feel sorry for him. He had the same expression all the time, he was kind of naive to the point it was frustrating, always stoic, and there wasn't much to like or dislike about him. He didn't go through much character development even when there was the perfect chance to.

The sidequests were confusing, crafting and trading items was more hassle than it was worth, and rebuilding the manor was complicated. It's weird since I like to rebuild my house, I had done it in previous games, but the economic system was complicated. The present-time side of the game was fun though, and I enjoyed being in Brazil and Abstergo.
One of the most damning things I could say about AC III was that I mostly wound up avoiding doing things. My boss Stephen has pointed out all the cool side-stuff in that game, and how rich it becomes if you take the time to dig into its nooks and crannies. But I was so bummed out by how much of a chore it was to get around, how little I liked the main character and how buggy it all was that I never really wanted to do much of anything.
YES! It became a chore for me and I avoided most of the sidequests. I only did the naval missions and helping citizens. It's not a bad game, it's beautiful and detailed, and the other characters are good (Haytham), but some things were too complicated/slow and the lack of motivation caused by the lack of feeling for the protagonist made everything harder.

Now as for AC4... it's WONDERFUL!

Edward is already 100x more likable than Connor. He has no sad storyline right now, but he's a man in search of a better life. It starts off with action and a flashback he has with his girlfriend and he wants to be a man of rank, to have a good house the wind won't blow away, and he hopes she believes in him somehow making that happen.
My mind was also blown by the present-time and what's going on there.

Back to the past, the visuals are stunning as usual, the music is FANTASTIC (Pirates of the Caribbean-ish), etc. The economic and crafting systems are much easier than AC:III and I find myself *wanting* to hunt, wanting to craft items, wanting to find memory fragments, etc. I even want to find all the treasure chests on each island. I even want to find every sea shanty to teach my crew to sing! It's that enjoyable! ::squee::

My quarter master is a man who saved my life named Adewale and we named our ship the Jackdaw. Other captains made fun of it, but whatever. I can order my crew to sing or to shut up. We can also hunt sharks and I have harpooned two bull sharks already!

We can also PLUNDER SHIPS for rum, sugar, and other supplies. The fighting system for ships is awesome and there are also different types of ships. We can even board them once they become weak!

I can even go to the tavern and drink rum! I can hunt alligators, wild pigs, deer, etc. IT'S AWESOME! I've been to Havana and Nassau already ::squee::

So right now things are pretty great and the "world" to explore is huge, I have only explored two islands, and there are even uncharted islands. Sometimes WHALES will come out of the water and you can swim alongside dolphins!

I love my crew. Whenever I get near the steering wheel they begin cheering, haha. THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE! I also like them yelling, "Rogue wind, captain!"

I even have my own captain's quarters and desk. This is the life. I went to a tavern and they were singing "William Taylor" and my other favorite songs. ::squee::

So far I've taught my crew to sing my favorite songs like High Barbary, Drunken Sailor, and Spanish Ladies. My collection is growing. I can even customize my ship ::squee::

Edward is a cool, easygoing guy. He's kind of swashbuckling, clever, but not the weird-Jack Sparrow type. He's the type of person who commands loyalty from his crew. He's also the friend of this bumbling sugar merchant so you can see Edward having a heart and sense of humor too. He shows a bit of vulnerability with his lady and you really want to help him achieve his dreams!

While I was wandering around Nassau I overheard a woman singing "Young Edwin in the Lowlands Low"-- it's heaven~ I'm not even at 5% of the game yet!

I'm gonna dust off my 3DS XL and start playing Bravely Default by the end of this week. People seem to be in love with this game, I played the demo and I can totally relate to that, has anyone else played it?

Got in "Hyrule Warriors" yesterday, which is pretty much "Dynasty Warriors" with all that China nerd junk replaced with Zelda. It's kind of fun but it mostly seems like you just hit the buttons a lot.

Also got hooked on Dragon Quest 9 at the same time, which was probably foolish of me ::batsu::

I started playing Ao Oni, it reminds me of Yume Nikki but it's harder because the monsters chase and try to kill you.

I just finished The Walking Dead Season 2 and it was a pretty interesting game.

It's not the usual type of game I play because there isn't as much action as I'm used to (Assassin's Creed games, for example) and it was mostly making choices, some on the spot. The beginning and middle had more action and interactions, such as stitching your own arm up, killing zombies, running around, etc.

I think the choices though are what made the game interesting because sometimes I was completely torn. I think this is one game where your choices actually DO influence how the storyline plays out. Your choices also influence how other characters see you and how they'll react towards you. You can also choose to be more mean or selfish or compassionate, or whatever combination of those you want to be. This time I around I was definitely kind and trusting, but brave and stood up for myself, so I was happy with that. I'm also happy with the decision I made at the very end because I stuck to my morals.

Even in the zombie apocalypse, I don't think someone should be killed when they haven't done anything wrong. I see people justifying their decision based on who they like better, whose flaws were worse, etc. In the end it doesn't matter, to me at least, it's just wrong to allow someone to kill an innocent person who made an accident. I also don't really care if the person doing the killing is your friend!

Anyway, it was a fun game. It was like going through a book, with you making your choices, but there was a lot you could do as well. The killing zombies parts had me at the edge of my seat! And some scenes were tough to take in. It was thrilling in a different way, the graphics were out of a comic book, and I liked being forced to think about the decisions. They showed me A LOT about who you are in the spur of the moment... I was not proud of one decision I made, haha!

Been playing "Prof. Layton VS Phoenix Wright" here ::batsu:: It's fun enough, but it seems to be more of a Layton game than a Phoenix Wright one, when I would have preferred it the other way around. They did add some amusing new features to the trials, like having to cross-examine an entire bench full of squabbling witnesses at once ::meev::
