Ah yes, the door.
The big, golden door shaped like a dick with "donald trump was here and it's THIS big" written over it in gold sharpie.
That Mexico will pay for

PE, he didn't put it there It's a complete mockery and ostrasization.
The artist, Plastic Jesus, who emigrated to the US from the UK four years ago, says he's not a fan of Donald Trump, "In the US you'll interact with immigrants from all over the world and it's one of the things that makes the US so great. Donald Trump's policy proposals are a threat to all of the immigrants."
I really do hope Mexico helped pay for this wall though.

Also, my friends and I were talking, and we all agree that we will probably see WWIII in our lifetime.
Let's just hope India is involved and stronger than China is by then.
I'm kind of worried that all anyone's doing is sitting back and laughing as the signs all keep appearing.
If it comes down to that, I'll kill myself (unless my kitties are still around). I don't want to live through a war.

Edit: George Takei on Trump's lovely blabber.

How not to feel it coming with all that is going on these days?
Before it actually happens, history has taught us that there's nothing much we can do. Pacifists get eliminated, one way or another.

Well, my friend had the fabulous idea of sneaking into one of those "ghost cities" in China that the government built and no one ever moved into cause they were too busy boiling dogs alive out in the rice paddies.
Since China's so big, they'd never even notice. We could have our own society there and only invite smart, useful people.
It wouldn't save everyone in the short term. But in the long term it would be better for the human race in general lol

And for me.

Speaking of China, I went to my last Mandarin weekly meet up at the China Institute for the summer! I actually felt sad not being able to go to the next one because I won't be able to attend any of the fall ones. I always have a good time and I made new friends!

A girl I met, Natalie, is actually a grad student at NYU now and her boyfriend's roommate is someone I took Lessons from the Biosphere with, and they're all BFFs. ::batsu:: SMALL WORLD! She's a cool girl and I like her. We also happened to be partners during our last activity and we were filmed for the China Institute's website XD

I also met an architect named Rosanna who works at I.M. Pet's architecture firm and she's designed museums and buildings all over the world! She's nice and we'd walk for a few blocks and talk. I felt like a schoolgirl with her at some point because the bathroom's lock was broken so she asked if I could keep a lookout and I did. She overheard that I'm not going to be attending the last meet up so she came over and gave me her card, which is really cool looking!

Then there's Jim, an economist, who I rode the subway with and talked for a while with. He told me about a lot of projects he's working on now and I found it pretty interesting. He's worked for the Federal Reserve and now he's also helping the CUNY schools figure out what kind of degrees they should grant. We first met at the Yale Club too, but we were sitting at opposite ends of the table, and I'm glad he's been coming to these China Institute events! He's really nice too!

I feel bad I can't make it to the last meeting XD SORRY GUYS, I HAVE TO ATTEND MY CLOSING NIGHT PARTY~

I went to the gallery today to see my picture without anyone around (it was so crowded during the reception). I also met the person, a photographer, who seems to be the manager of the gallery (not owner) and we had a long talk. He was a nice man and he got so excited talking about his work, he showed me his pictures and everything. He said he'll be most likely helping put up the rest of my photos on the wall and that he'll see me next week!

After that, I went to Barnes and Noble and found the Disney book "The Illusion of Life" and I was ABOUT to buy it except it costs double in person than online (on their own website too!). It was so weird. So I'm just ordering it from Amazon and later devour it.

Before that though, I asked Corinne where I could go to the bathroom at NYU without having to swipe my old NYU ID. She told me two places and I was about to LIE and hold up my old card to the security guard as though I were still a student, but I kept walking past the building and I texted Corinne, "I CAN'T LIE TO THESE GOOD PEOPLE!" ::batsu:: *NERRRDDDD*

@shazzer : knowing you are from Bavaria, I sincerely hope no one you know was either killed or injured in yesterday's attack.

ï¼ MissUMana Thank you for your worries. My family is not exactly from Bavaria, we are the other South (nearly Elsass). They live in the middle of nowhere in the Black Forest, therefore I guess, they are relatively safe.

However we (the teacher at my company) were quite worried about a student that lives in Munich. I think (hope) she is fine. So far, there are no news about a Japanese vicitm.

@ faith: my family started to grow their own food and stuff, just in case. XD If it goes on like this, WW3 might be possible. But there is still hope that it will not happen. Politicians know that people will use nukes then and then all countries will be destroyed.

If anything happened to her, she would be injured, because there was no Japanese among the dead.

Things seem to be getting totally out of hand everywhere, so I don't know. All I hope is that Trump is not elected, because that would be awful indeed.

Hmm...If there is a war, I don't know that growing their own food will help.
They'd have to worry about bombs, polluted water, etc.
And then people stealing their food or killing them for it.

I think that Trump, if elected, would be bad, but maybe not quite so bad.
It seems like he just wants to win. After that he may let his cabinet do everything.
If he is active, he'll make the USA worse, but the many checks and balances built into the government would prevent him from doing much else globally.
Its more the fact that people want to elect him that worries me - it shows a lot of incorrectly channeled unrest.

Edt: MissUMana, a long time ago you asked me why I can't just "let the rich enjoy their money"...this is why, actually lol
The rich and powerful are the only ones who could peacefully change things and instead they're having fantasy gallas somewhere.
As they always have. Honest self-made men and women are ok.
But the people who inherit the wealth and squander it doing frivolous muck are terrible people.

Seasons are changing here so fire services have been conducting burn-offs in the more forested areas, the up side is no bush-fires, the down-side is it looking a bit like this:

The smoke managed to seep into my apartment too, so the ash has collected on somethings and really stunk the place out.... it is still hanging around and stinging my eyes and mouth a bit too.

How far do you live from where they're burning stuff?

Not too far, I think the area they burnt last night was just over the hills, once it was just down the road near a vacant block I used to work out on.

Actually, speaking of that, it was quite a shock to jog down there and find the whole forest LEVELLED, just ghost white trunks poking out of the blackened ground, there was still a bit of soot and ash floating around too, it was around sun-rise at this point too. I was tempted to run back home and grab my camera but I wasn't sure if it would still be like that when I got back, plus I wanted to work out. :P

These are a pretty common sight:

CATASTROPHIC
I've seen some that just start at 'High'. :P

I should also add that the area I live in is pretty residential... there are other places where it is far crazier. I knew someone who could see the bushfire from her bedroom once.

@Crystal: Your first post with the picture of the road, I was like, why is everything in Chinese? Does he live somewhere Chinese-related? I thought he was in Australia? XD

Ugh, I don't know if I should take ALL the suggestions of my teacher for my scene. We have to submit revisions but... I'm changing one thing, but the rest... I don't know. Sigh~

The Illusion of Life Disney animation book is amazing. @.@

Haha, I was wondering how many people would be thrown off by that! Actually we had another incident about... 6 or so years ago now, I think some nuclear tests were being conducted somewhere and the result caused a heap of dust to be blown onto the area I lived, it was like walking around inside a snow-globe full of rust.

I also remember being given some free instant noodles that day too.

All my stereotypes of Australia are being confirmed XD

Yeah, fortunately I've never had to experience any of the levels first hand.

In other news! I went into my local posh shop and they carried that Thierry Mugler 'Alien' perfume, not bad! Although I'm not sure if my olfactory senses were biased from the rad bottle.

I hope you shelled out for a first printing, supposedly the reprints are blurry.

Here's hoping the answer is "it's where they sell all that stuff for pommies"

I like it when people call the English pommies ::kisaki::

Jennifer and I had a pleasant time at the ice scream social held in the next-door ballroom, and we sat on a plushy old-fashioned couch talking about things. It was really nice.

Later in the day she then says something along the lines of, "Marriage sucks." I said, "What" and she said her friend got married at TWENTY-TWO! I said, yeah, that's pretty young (for me!).

She said she can't afford to get married that young if she's going to get the ring she wants. She said it has to be HUGE, and she's going to marry rich. She added, "I'm only going to get married once so I have to go big."
Wow. XD I gave a little laugh and just didn't respond. ::meev::

Anyway, filmmaking class was interesting. We submitted our revisions and everyone read their scripts out loud, and it was fun.

We get to mine and my classmates were excited to read it and Miranda wanted to play the son because she loved his part. It's read out loud, and man, my teacher had a lot of words for me. He didn't understand so many things, which was weird because everyone I've showed it to thought it was easy to follow and a strong, emotional piece (my teacher said so too). He thought it was anti-climactic, he asked WHY the son was even there, why was the son upset, why shepherd's pie, why etc. and asked, "Am I the only one who feels this way?"

SILENCE!

My classmates actually responded to his questions for me and pointed out lines where I wrote the answers to his questions. It was almost as if he didn't really think much? Like he wanted everything spelled out immediately? Brennie said she understood it completely and the others agreed, and they said it was really good.

So my teacher said he thought that there should be a scene where you see the mother throwing away the flowers into the trash can, instead of having it implied by seeing the flowers in the trash the next morning. No one really responded to that...

I said, "I don't think it's always necessary to show certain things." He said that's fine, to do the movie I want to do. Christine whispered to me, "I admire your confidence!"

It was really hard to "talk back" because inside I was feeling kind of unsure because he's a teacher, but at the same time I knew what I was doing. I kept smiling and nodding and responded normally, but I did feel inside like I was HOLDING ON.

He said that he's just making suggestions, to make my own movie, and told me a story about someone who didn't take his advice and later regretted it, and I said okay.

If I could have gone further, I would have given an example of the scene in Bambi (1942) where Bambi's mother dies. You don't SEE her dying on the ground, all you hear is a gun shot, and you never actually see her again. That's what makes it powerful and I admire how it forces your audience to use their imagination to realize, "His mother is dead" as Bambi is wandering around the first looking for her, which makes everything worse. While Bambi doesn't know, you know she's dead, not because you see it happening, but because you hear the gun shot.
I guess I would like for the viewer to think for themselves and have their own interpretation and that's the approach I take.

I don't know ::meev:: I start shooting next week and this week I'll get my actors!

A posh shop is my name for... posh shops I guess? Your sort of 'high-end' retail stores, here it is Myers and David Jones.

I didn't buy it, it was rather expensive, I usually wear this (http://www.thebodyshop.com.au/mens/frag ... 5hnWI9OKUk) and have a bit left so I'm good for now. I don't exactly have anywhere to wear perfume to anyway... :(

My mind is blown - I never really considered that at any time, I could be hiring actors to act out my every dramaturgical whim XD They probably work real cheap too.

So? Neither do I, and I'm pretty sure no one could smell it but me anyway XD
EDIT: PS - changed your large picture to a link up above because it was stretching out the page ::batsu::
