Do it, take your own WILHELM pic and post it here ::meev::
Hachiko's not in the cemetery though, or at least the famous statue isn't. For all I know his mortal remains might be interred there though XD

Hachiko and his owner Professor Ueno are there http://www.japanletsgo.com/2012/04/hachikos-grave.html

Looking at those photos again I realize I saw a blog post last night with those "churches" that Yu~ki is next to. I'm going to have to do a little internet exploring to see if I can find that info again.

I might have competition with all the hanami people. Will see how it goes with photos.

Oh boy, look what I just found http://photoguide.jp/pix/displayimage.php?album=647&pid=19519#top_display_media

JAPAN PEOPLE: What is there to do in Tokyo? We're going to buy our tickets soon and my teammates and I are wondering what we can do with our extra time (if we have any) besides food. I suggested going to a butler cafe but I'm not sure my teammates are 100% up for it. Weirdos ::meev::
I hope we get extra time to do something though. I can't imagine going to Japan and not seeing something sort of historical or touristy. Lisa said there isn't a lot to do that is historical, sigh~
We also have to PRESENT our paper to the Ministry of Justice and we'll each present our assigned sections to them. XD Omg, I'm going to be so nervous, I already know it!

Anyway, I did my video interview and it was pretty fun. I made sure to dress up nice with a favorite peplum top of mine and I fixed up odds and ends in the bathroom before I went on the set. I thought, "REMEMBER YOUR TRAINING."

They were having trouble with balancing their tripod so I had to wait a moment. I said I understood! I rarely say that phrase, ever, but really, I actually do understand because in my old film classes sometimes our tripods would have to be evened out with napkins.
They hooked me up with a microphone and I stood there waiting for my cue like a nerd. The camera people just asked me questions, like why I chose the school, advice for international human rights clinic students, how is the school helping with my international-level career, etc. I even got to talk about China! I was nervous at first, but then I got into it and it was really fun! The head of the team said he loved what I wrote as my advice to incoming law students and asked if I can just say the phrase out loud for the camera along with giving the full answer, so I did! They said my answers were excellent and that I was a natural and it was really great how I finished up my sentences and waited for further instruction because it'll make it easier for when they edit.
So they said it'll be edited and posted on social media and the website and asked if I'd be open for another interview and I said sure! :)

I'm also getting this summa cum laude public service award for over 1000 public service hours. There will be a whole dinner and guest speakers too and I can't wait! :)

Anyone remember a year or so ago I was trying to find the name of a band I once heard?

Stumbled across it this morning, the band was Alcest.

I suggested going to a butler cafe but I'm not sure my teammates are 100% up for it.

You should do it!

I've pretty much blocked out my entire itinerary now for when I am in Japan next week for the MdM lives!

They're more up for the owl cafe XD I told Lisa I could imagine myself during the meeting with the Ministry of Justice sneaking out and hanging out at the butler cafe ::meev:: I don't know if it's a risqué place. I'll have to do more research. My impression was that it was butler-looking guys and nothing scandalous about it. Have fun in Japan! :D

I don't even know if we'll have time for sightseeing. We seem to be meeting with the MoJ for a whole day then other groups for the other days but it's unclear how long they'll take. I WANT TO SIGHTSEE TOO XD

My teammates don't think we'll sleep the whole time in Japan, haha. I don't know if they're exaggerating, but some of them were talking about how "alcohol is my drug," how much they drink caffeine to the point of being hospitalized because of ulcers, and how once in a while they'll use adderrall (don't know if I'll ever spell that correctly) and I found it really sad. Lisa said to them, "Wow, I don't know what that feels like because I don't take that..." Lisa seems really into fitness and I like that she doesn't judge my eating McDonald's because she said I seem fit so she would never think to say anything. It really is my indulgence. Lisa's my homegirl. ::meev::

I didn't say anything at all during this ALCOHOL DRUGS CAFFEINE discussion because I don't even drink coffee or alcohol, much less take pills that I don't need. I just stared in amazement. I think part of what they said was exaggeration though. One said she can't do 10 tequila shots now that she's in her 30s. And others bemoaned the fact that they can't do hangovers or allnighters as much anymore. Egad... ::batsu::

Animation class went great and we finally went over my character descriptions. I actually had to go in front of the class and read out from the screen what I wrote. Egad.
My professor thought my Love Interest's fears were fascinating and "very real" and that overall my characters were deep and to definitely keep working on it. He found himself relating to Protagonist's fears and my classmates said they could as well, that they could even see themselves in her position and they understand her fears when it comes to what they want in life. I love when that happens! :)
My professor wondered about the Protagonist's motivations when it comes to her Love Interest and wonders if her relationship with him is a cry for help or if she truly loves him. He doesn't know if we should feel sorry for Protagonist or if this is the real deal. He knows it will be revealed as the story goes on, but that at first he really wondered what was going through her head and wondered if she's being oppressed in some way, but he doesn't think she is. He also thinks that there's a 90% chance she'll fail at achieving her goals, because of the path she's on, but we're rooting for her anyway. He also thinks Protagonist has an "edge" to her and has her dark moments despite her positive outlook and he would like to see me develop that. My classmate Ana thought Protagonist seemed a little lonely as well, at least at first.

He wants me to personify the building more as the villain and I can't wait to do that because I was going for a Hunchback of Notre Dame thing where the building is a character. He thought Mentor/Main Friend was selfish, which I didn't mean to do, oops!
He thinks the story is something we need because it challenges the audience to see whether they're projecting their own negative thoughts onto the characters, and it challenges them to rethink these sorts of relationships and situations. My classmate Taisa thought I'll really have to do this well to make it work. My classmates also suggested all these interesting themes too, like about the manipulation of words.

My classmates thought it was frustrating that there was no one specifically to be mad at, haha. At the end my professor said he was thinking about the Love Interest's fears and said, "I just found it fascinating the fear of whether he should risk everything for something that might not even work out after all, but at the same time he might not have this chance again." He thought P and LI were awesome people. He said there is so much tension here and to really torture the audience with it.
My classmates and professor handed me their written notes and I was touched at how much effort they put into them. They said they really want to know what happens and Kamao said he'd love to keep watching.

I was like, WOAAAAH though at their analysis XD DEEP MAN.

back to writing about the death row inmates' visitation rights... this is actually fun for me though ::batsu::

Look, this is Japan, you can get it as risqué as you want it XD
Seconding CrystalAmmunition on this, you should absolutely go to some sort of maid or butler cafe XD See if you can get the butlers to MOE BEAM your coffee ::meev::

Today - my entire building at work was evacuated due to a fire. They thought something was burning up on the 17th floor, or maybe some sort of bomb, but it turned out to be a garbage fire in between my building and the one next to it XD

Hi there, long time no see.
In the meantime I molested Sweds, found some language partners, my retina got detached (it is as much fun as it sounds) and my apartment got sold (again) and this time, the new owner wants to kick all of us out...

Shit how did you do that? Usually it's from getting hit pretty hard in the head during sports...
You're ok now?

Ok everyone here who hasn't seen this needs to. But you need to watch the whole thing, even if the music isn't your style.
I'm a mix between impressed and amused. Band is called Too Many Zooz.

@ faith Yes, I am fine now, thanks. I take my eye drops regularly and I seem to be ok again.

It was my fault. I had an eye infection, but I stopped taking the eye drops I got and the infection got worse, this and my corneal irregularity made it worse.
Lesson leaned. Sometimes it is better to take the medicine given to me, even if I do not want to do it.

Nice video.

I can't do risqué if my teammates aren't up for it though XD By the way they reacted you would have thought I suggested we all go to a strip club YEAAAH. But we'll see~
(I'll bring it up to them again and to Lisa and Carolina especially.)
I feel like I'm such a Japan noob because I'm thinking about being able to use Japanese toilet buttons and similarly stereotypical Japanese things XD
Lisa did say we could go to an onsen one of the nights we're there!

We haven't purchased our tickets yet and I want to know when exactly we're going. I have a bunch of events I want to go to that week, but can't RSVP because we don't know the dates yet. I wanted to go to this NYU alumni event that has one of the law firm partners who founded Wachtell. A group of them graduated from NYU and founded it partly because they were excluded from other law firms for being Jewish and because the fields they wanted to work on, like bankruptcy, were considered "Jewish" (???). It's now the #1 law firm in the US for years and the most prestigious! He'll be talking about his career and fond memories of ol' NYU when it was just a school known for commuter students. Then he helped negotiate deals to raise money for the university and ended up saving a lot of the schools. He seems like a cool man. I thought it would be really cool to meet him because he's a big deal (in the legal world) and he's also very old! Then I can message with a picture of us and go, "Hey look its me with your old boss!" Sigh, but we'll see if I can go XD
Then the NYU alumni women's group is having a cooking thing for a homeless shelter. Omg. I WANT TO GO!!!!!!

I took the NYLE this morning ::batsu:: Now I have the MPRE for Saturday at 8:30AM UGHHHH. I'm so tired of looking at all the ethics rules. XD I'M SO DONE. I'M DONE.

I'm glad you're okay! It seems like a lesson we all have to learn sometimes XD Thanks for the hedgehog suggestion, one of my teammates wanted to do that one!

@Madmoiselle_Silk : Thank you for that! :D I'll definitely tell my teammates about the Alice restaurant :3 I just read about the Shrine and I'll have to say hi to the war criminals, oh geez XD Don't worry, I won't go as a form of protest.
I hope I can go back one day and see an actual castle though!

also, don't worry guys i'll look for klaha while i'm in japan ::batsu:: ::batsu:: ::batsu::
(Maybe I can ask the Ministry of Justice to do a background check on a certain Haruna Masaki. For work-related purposes.)

My animation classmate met Michael Giacchino who did the score for "Up" at an event he was speaking at. I'm so jelly! She said he was super nice and that she even got his email address. I didn't even realize he studied at the school I'm at! After class I asked my professor how can I improve my writing and he said to read the screenplay for "Up" first. I thought that was funny because I started reading it last week and I thought it was wonderfully written. It was so good. Maybe even better than the movie, haha. He'll send me more materials though and I'm excited!

now to look at more ethics rules ;_;

Just want to say that last week Stephen Hillenberg announced he had ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease and it really broke my heart (had to retreat to my bedroom for a few hours). He said he's going to work on Spongebob for as long as he can :(
latest

It breaks my heart that someone so talented and who brought so much joy to the world now has an awful incurable, terminal illness that will take away his function slowly until he dies.
I thought this was the best article on it:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...w-after-als-diagnosis/?utm_term=.841cad537f97
Because it talks about his transition from marine biologist/teacher to the animation industry and how Hillenburg said he based the show on innocence and that's exactly why I love Spongebob and it's my all-time favorite show.

Going to see the Dean in a few hours to talk about The Incompetent and how to improve the China study abroad program. All of a sudden I'm nervous, but here goes. XD

We had to turn in our first draft of our Japan white paper and I hope that my professor doesn't have a ton of negative comments on my section today XD *twiddling thumbs*

...my team organized a surprise party for me today.
As a weirdo, I've never felt so socially accepted and I didn't know what to do.

But, even as a weirdo, I succeeded in not hiding under the table and crying so...eh...win?

Summary: FAITH GOT CAKE

doumoz mah man. I know it was Cerceaux's too, but I don't think she scapes anymore so...

Btw, I've been wondering.
Usually the name of the first lady drops significantly on the baby name popularity charts.
With Michelle it was noticeable but small. Hillary is now a nono name practically lol

I'm assuming this won't be a problem with Malaria.
Instead, I'm really wondering if the sale of FAKE TANS will be affected this time.
I tried looking it up but there's no data so far.

JAPAN PEOPLE: Are there any other cities that I must see in Japan besides Tokyo and Kyoto? I actually have 3.5 extra days so I was wondering if there was anything urgent. If not I might do a one day trip and spend the rest in Tokyo. We're also going to Kyoto together after we're all done which should be fun! I'm so excited I'm already daydreaming about walking around in a rented kimono XD

Looks like no one wants to do the Butler Cafe so I think I'll make my Swallowtail Cafe reservation in advance XD

Things I must do:
DisneySea
Studio Ghibli Museum
Burger vending machine
100 yen store
Family Mart
Some good sight of Mt. Fuji

This might sound horrible, but I don't feel an urgent need to see shrines and temples... XD Corinne has been giving me good tips on where to find internet, transportation, etc.
I feel like I've been hearing the words "Shibuya" and "Shinjuku" because of Malice Mizer interests for so long and now I'll see these places ::batsu:: I'm listening to some cornola Japan songs to get into the ZONE. I heard these while playing DDR with Corinne at Dave and Busters... XD

I hope it's a nice event! I'll be running from my Japan team meeting to the ceremony so I think I'll be "dressed up" during the meeting XD

I'm making a presentation for class related to the Health Insurance Privacy Protection Act. Our professor said to make it creative so I've added a HIPAA the Hippo meme at the end, among other things. ::meev::
