It's the most wonderful time to live in fear!

(Yay spoopy sweater arrived today!)
We must contain the ugly sweater menace before it spreads to September next

Dropping this here in case anyone reading happens to be in New York: Marie Antoinette's jewelry is on public display for the next two days, and the daring can even try it on ::kaya::
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/12/...hance-to-try-on-marie-antoinettes-jewels.html
I'm absolutely checking it out... but not trying them on XD

That sweater isn't ugly...
If you were trying to have an ugly sweater, you need to try harder XD
Like, I dunno. Ask Hanachan what sweater he likes and then get that.

Anyone know some tips for getting over the fact that I think practicing muslims are scummy dumbdumb heads?
I had a bad experience and now it's negatively colored my view on them...
I want to go back to not caring either way. So any advice would be welcome.

So, until about a week ago I stayed in Tokyo for two weeks, doing a DJ gig at a Hardcore Techno / Breakcore party and discovering a LOT of things in that giant acid trip of a city.
First time there and I fucking loved it <3
Managed to buy some music as well and now I'm completely hooked to J-rock and VK again :D

Also, the Japanese know how to throw a party, the crowd responce was insane ::squee::
Can't wait to return :D

My fingers are itching to dig up some 10 year old threads here, but before I do, and before I read through 10 years worth of threads, let me ask here:

Did we ever find the magazines from 1999 with MM's and Gackt's different stories/versions of how he left the band?

I was very invested in finding those magazines, but in the past 10 years I lost most of the MM stuff on my hard drives and apparently some of my memory as well ::meev:: I didn't even remember those interviews existed...

So, I seem to have fallen deep into the fandom rabbit hole again and am desperately trying to fit pieces of the story. It's a shame Mana's interview from earlier this year hasn't been fully translated either, or Mana and Közi's one from August ::erm::

(Although Google translator has improved a lot in 10 years ::bleh::)

Btw the thread about the 1999 interviews had some VERY lively discussions ::meev::

I was gonna ask the same thing about doujinshi threads... as I have aaaabsolutely no idea where to even look for such things anymore (also I've kinda recently relocated to another state and am currently unemployed for the time being, so it's not like I've been searching/shopping diligently...)

Gackt's version of the story was in his autobiography "Jihaku". I don't remember if the other members gave any meaningful insights at the time. I think they talked about it a bit relatively recently, but really I think we all kind of have an idea of what went down.

If you're talking about that kind of doujinshi, this isn't the place XD ::gaku::

I was just going to write about where Gackt's version was but Flowers beat me to it. I know there are webpages still around with it on them. As to what the others said, there was that "interview" that had to happen between January and June 1999 since Kami took part in it. I have not seen anything as to where it was printed. There was some thought that it might have been a fan club publication. The original Japanese online was 2chan I think.

I'm pretty sure Mana was referring to it when he did the RR interview. He did say they did speak up about Gackt leaving back then. There is also a little more in the DSVI pamphlet, but they really didn't say much besides Gackt didn't want to participate in the shows. I did a paraphrase write-up of the RR interview on my blog. I'm not experienced so I don't feel okay putting a direct translation online. As for the BARKS interview, online translators do an okay job of it. It's a lot of work to translate so I can understand why people are not wanting to put in the time since there are now ways to read online articles.

Do you mean the old MALICE MIZER doujinshi? There are some on Tumblr...or use to be. At least the safe ones from Japan back in the day.

Oh no, my dear Flowers, I meant this thread (and almost all 8 pages of people arguing xD)

https://www.scapeforums.com/index.p...ranslation-mm-on-gackt-leaving-the-band.4424/

Somewhere in the middle of that, someone mentioned that MM's interview was probably a response to an interview Gackt had given in (possibly) February 1999, that wasn't as bad as Jihaku, but quite similar.

Towards the end of the thread I was asking about the magazine itself, since all we have is a transcript on a board or something... I don't think we ever mentioned this interview again, even here.

I was gonna ask the same thing about doujinshi threads...

I found some around LiveJournal (I'm slowly going through LJ communities to find scans and such, unfortunately there are a lot of dead links and websites)
Also I can just send you what I've downloaded, if you want x) there's nothing graphic and most of them are pretty safe (especially since we all seem to be adults here nowadays ::ash::)

Yes, I saw it and honestly, THANK YOU SO MUCH ::squee::::squee::::squee::
I'm sorry, I was just bitching a bit because as I've been going through old threads here and on LJ and such, and there used to be a lot more interest in translation from fans... I guess online translators really have evolved a lot, but I miss the days when people like Sarah used to translate everything Mana said. I'm just bitter, nevermind me ::bleh::

But really, thank you so much for the translation you did, and for keeping this forum updated!! <3

Ah, you are welcome. I do what I can. It is harder for people outside of Japan, like me, because access to magazines and such is limited. But since many Japanese magazines are going digital and getting rid of paper versions, it's faster just to use an online translator, and cheaper, lol. There's been a lot less to translate also. It's only recently that Mana has been doing these interviews again, which is great! I think it shows his interest in trying to get back into entertaining.

While we are on the topic of old skool translation and all, I was quite the digger myself though I haven't done any in a while. Geocities was quite the place for up to date information back in the day and had many translated interviews and scans. Sadly, many of the links are dead and the pages inaccessible. In any case, here is one that I had saved and is still functional. It contains a couple of translated interviews ^^ Also, thanks for reminding me about RR. I was supposed drop my next translation but completely got caught up in work...I only have the last section to finish and will post it!

So Flickr is independent again and from next year will be totally uncoupled from Yahoo. I might have to start using it again.

I suppose no one here has any idea how to get in touch with @avismortuae right? Their LiveJournal hasn't been updated in 8 years and I had no luck trying to search on other social media... this is what happens when you don't know people's real names and don't keep in contact outside fandom xD

Or, worse, when they have a fairly common name. That's how I feel about most of my old Gaia/LJ/dA friends.
