I once got a THE 1TH ANNIVERSARY from Puresound that was 100% definitely fake. (I have 4 THE 1TH's, all fake). And there's a huge chance that the real Matenrou ones had lyrics cards. But just so rare that nobody ever documented them well, or put the real titles of the two songs on the internet. I'm still a bit sceptical on these! But I might very well be too critical, and you could be right! We'll only know if somehow ones appear that seem even more legit.Someone actually asked, and got answers to, a couple questions on the Million Dollar Matenrou Tapes:

No lyrics cards or anything, and they originally seem to have come from Puresound. That's probably as close to "authentic" as you're likely to find, though whether the sound quality will be better than what's out there is not certain at all.
Second time I've seen these around. Wasn't there a pre-order incentive, or a mail in your proof of purchase for a chance to win or something similar?Malice Mizer - 2 movie banners, 4500Y
Yes! I have the repress of KISAKI, and I'm looking for the original, but really every copy on sale is that later press he made for a huge price just like the original....This reminds me of La:Sadie's objexxx CD single which came out in 1996 and was limited to 300 copies.
Sometime in the late 2000s or 2010s, Kisaki who bassist in that band, made bootlegs and started selling them on mercari and YJA that look virtually identical to the original.

Fast forward 10+ years later and now nearly every recent sale of objexxx is the fake and even Disk Union recently sold one of them without knowing it.

The difference here though is that KISAKI's repress could be seen as semi-real since he was a member of the band, and it's high quality since he had the master files.
But fake MM tapes are always poorer in quality, and made by many different people.
Hi! I'm sure he stored the master files of both the graphic design and original uncompressed recordings very safely on his PC('s), since his new press was super high in quality. Definitely not mp3.True, I can see your point that it's semi official.
I was always curious about the repress - did Kisaki actually use a master / wav file for his version? Or was it a mp3?
I assume he had the original CD which he made his copies from.
I would love to get my hands on the MM demos just to transfer them myself.
I think the best versions of the demo tapes was the one that were shared here 10 years ago?
I recently got my hands on La:Sadie's seimei no tsumi cassette and the transfer I made is leagues better than the versions I had downloaded through the years.
I've got that bug to get my hands on demo tapes which I probably never will because they are too risky to purchase (Malice Mizer, L'Arc en ciel, Garnet, Sus-4).
He just re-recorded all the parts himself. Including the vocalsI was always curious about the repress - did Kisaki actually use a master / wav file for his version? Or was it a mp3?
Forgot to ask, by the way: why do you think that particular one is real? I don't have any particular information about any of my MM tapes' provenance, besides that that one came from FLOWER RECORD.We have never gotten a real rip of MM tapes, except for flowers' "SADNESS / SPEED OF DESPERATE".
Actually, I'm not 100% sure in the end. But it's the only tape that I've never ever seen on sale for the past 10 years. Not even any fakes. It must be so extremely rare... Maybe the fakers also can't get their hands on it? And FLOWER RECORD is more reliable than Puresound when it comes to not selling fakes of items like that. Also the audio of yours definitely doesn't come from a common source... So if it is a fake, it's a very high quality one made directly from a real one, which has a small chance of happening, especially since this item wasn't public, but more "promotional" like.Forgot to ask, by the way: why do you think that particular one is real? And also, SADIE posted a pic of this tape on Twitter, which also is TDK just like yours.Forgot to ask, by the way: why do you think that particular one is real? I don't have any particular information about any of my MM tapes' provenance, besides that that one came from FLOWER RECORD.
What is the source of that info anyway? It seems like it just popped up on the internet out of nowhere one day.especially since this item wasn't public, but more "promotional" like.
It's not mentioned in Cher de memoire or any official publications, even when the three other are. And SADIE, a fellow band member, owns it. So... No public distribution documented, rarest of them all, but real since a band member owns it.... Promo-only seems like a logical, but still not 100% conclusion. What is the source of that info anyway?
