I wrote up the info on my site and gave you a coveted hat-tip ::gaku::
Why thank you ! It's much appreciated :)
How do people find this stuff on social media anyway, are they just following a lot of Japanese old men?
Yup::teef::
That and also a certain Senji I follow (https://nitter.net/senjianiki) . He collects obscure '80s and '90s vkei demotapes and such so I guess he's on the lookout for information 24/7 . So sometimes Twitter puts Tweets he interacted with on my HP and sometimes I strike gold .
That's how I found out about that FM GIRL'E present event I posted about here some time ago .

A few years ago I gave my students a writing prompt regarding whether convenience stores should be open 24 hours and the majority of them were in favour of it.

Basically the kid’s reasons boiled down to:
  • We can buy snacks whenever we want.
  • The bright lights of a convenience store make towns safer at night.
  • It’s convenient.
  • If they close early the workers will become lazy.
  • People can make money by working at night.

Anyone remember that Japanese 7-11 operator who was making the news for daring to close his store? Looks like he just lost in court:
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/23/business/7-eleven-franchisee-court.html

Jeez, I remember reading about this story a few years back and was happy for the guy trying to bring some change / reform to the overall grind that is Japanese customer service.
It's a shame that it sort of justifies that grinding nature of Japanese society in order to attain that 'customer service' level that they all expect without thinking of the human cost.

I feel like Japan's ubiquitous vending machines could solve that issue of being open 24/7.
It's funny when they expect the shops to be open but the train system is closed in the middle of the night?

Look, as long as those goldbrickers can't get home they might as well man the registers.

I actually really liked the 24/7 convenience store model when I was there and I did use it.
But there's been talk of restricting hours because it's not safe for the employees late at night in certain places, and I get that.
Also "If they close early the workers will become lazy"...they probably also think Japan did nothing wrong to China and Korea during WWII.
Do Japanese kids live in bubbles or what lol

Anyhow, after a few weeks of using them, I noticed my running shorts have a crotch pocket AND a zip up bum pocket, and that both are too small to fit a phone.
It's was a very French ingenuity at its finest moment

Today in Boomer News: local boomer takes time off from appreciating women to reminisce about Mana
https://nitter.net/vaba_Sexer/status/1540142107943239680#m

Speaking of that song, when Malice Mizer's Mana came to Tokyo he said "I want to make songs like "hajimete no chuu"!" But the next thing you know, he started this band called Malice Mizer and you couldn't tell which one was him from the photos, and their music was nothing like "hajimete no chuu" *laughs*

Hanachan, dude, so many questions. But the first one has to be "who is that guy, why did he know Manasam, and, most importantly, why are you reading his nitter?"

It's that same guy who was briefly in a band with Atsushi Fukuyama. I guess he, like, knew people back in the day.

Regrettably, merely having known people is apparently no safeguard against becoming a Maid Runner.

So, by virtue of being the only female native English speaker at my company HQ other than Annnotoinette the Republican (who everyone avoids), I suddenly became a voice actor.
As in I had to read the scripts for the commercials they're releasing for one of our brands.
I dunno why we didn't just get a professional it's not like we're a major company with 30k+ employees worldwide or anything.

Then I gave my notice.

Not only was my wallet stolen last week, but the Disk Union online store also had a data leak, so I have been receiving relentless spam and attempted logins.
Too bad for anyone whoever manages to gain access as my credit card has already been cancelled.

What happened, did someone pick your pocket?
Call me a square, but I still kind of have that "returning lost wallets to the police box" impression of Japan even though I should probably know slightly better.

Yeah, all of my Japanese friends have that same impression and are shocked that it hasn't come back yet. The most unfortunate thing is that I had a few photos in there which I won't be able to get back.
