TEAC torque meters:

Ludicrously high tension values but you can at least see what they look like.

M-300 calibrator:
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x1059832440
(But if you actually want one of these, the price is no good - just order a brand-new one from Willy Hermann instead)

Homemade mirror cassette for 1000Y:
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/o1059814572
(Compare to $100+ for a genuine article)
This is unnecessary if you get an M-300 or equivalent.

Check out this site for audio gear:
https://www.superdigitalsound.com/

Run by a guy who used to have a recording studio/duplicating plant of his own before having to shut down. Lots of great stuff... but of course I already snapped up the best of it ::cred::

Here's a Nakamichi CR-70 that was apparently officially serviced a few days ago (?!?!)
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f1064425721
Serial number is high enough that it has the EQ mod and gear drive - but the mention of "replacing the idler" in the notes is odd given that.
Seems like it had a couple capacitors swapped out (presumably "diseased" orange caps), a motor replaced, and belts replaced, as well as general cleaning.

These two sellers seem to make a habit of selling top-quality restored gear:

What makes them so expensive?
Rarity, unusual subject matter, and beyond that I don't know because I've never gotten my hands on one yet. But they look fascinating and were written by Masaki Tsuji who is "a big deal" as they say.

Interesting. Probably real since it's from a reputable seller too. I'll keep an eye on it, particularly since Japanese auctions are practically free these days due to the exchange rate.

EDIT: but I dunno, only one track? I thought this was going to be the one Kozi posted a picture of that had 4 tracks.

Well I was keeping an eye on that tape, but it's already up to 87000Y so I'm not bidding.
There are 3 bidders, is anyone here one of them? XD

So here's a question for anyone and everyone: what single song could conceivably be worth $800 or so to you? What could get you to fork over that kind of money?

For me I think it would have to be something historical, like if someone discovered a new autograph manuscript by Henry Purcell of a song nobody had known about.

EDIT: It ended at 112000Y, so consider the question re-posed with $1000 instead of $800.
