i'm curious, what's your favourite sound/intrument, and why?
as for me, at this moment it's probably cello. i really like violin too, but i prefer cello because it has such a warm sound. another intrument i really like is lute, probably because it sounds a bit medieval and pretty "clear" too, makes me feel happy :)

violin. MY violin. definitely.

When I was in 6th grade I got my own and...I don't know. I've never heard anything like it before. Violins can get kinda whiney-sounding sometimes but this one doesn't. It's a 17th century french make with a giant crack in the back (I didn't do it) and really sticky pegs, but I love it anyway ^^

It's the most expensive thing I own.

Drums for me. I've always been a huge drum person. Which is why I tend to have a lot of love for extreme metal, cause they got some psycho crazy drummers.

I also love:
Violin
Cello
Organ
Harpsichord
Bagpipes
Accordion

I really love the sound of church organs, oboes (especially the cute little tune on le ciel) and erhus. None of which I can play, because I play much more boring and easier to play instruments.

BTW, concerning harpsichords, do people like the SOUND of harpsichords i.e like in MDM recordings or the actual harpsichord instrument itself which is quiet and wishywashy.

For a short while I used to play harpsichord for a small opera troupe and people who say they like the sound of harpsichords are always amazed how different they REALLY sound like live compared to what they hear done with synths, like with MDM, because there no way a real harpsichord could take the punishment of a typical MDM song!

I really love Pipe Organs...you know, the REAL big ones in Cathedrals....they make me shiver when played really good. That´s why i adore J.S.Bach so much. He´s was a God at playing the Organ.

And of course i like Harpsicord,Classical Guitar (12 Strings) and Bassoon when played in Minor.

Violin... string arrangements always entail such major bonus points.

I also love piano. And bagpipes -- coolest intrument ever. ;D

oh pipe organs, how could i forget about them! it's one of the first things i look for when i'm in a church :P. perhaps i'm blind, but when i was in the notre dame the organ didn't really seem that big... or at least not as i expected. we have a pretty big one here in rotterdam :). the sound of a pipe organ makes me feel so tiny.
and i really like bagpipes too :)

i would say synthesizers, i have more synths than any other instrument, and i find them to be more usefull and versitile when creating certian music types.
from pre rock to black metal
or
industrial to synthpop! synthesizer all the way i feel anyway.
even though my first instrument was the guitar....

I simply love a variety of sounds

When it comes to generic instruments, I just adore bass.

Otherwise, I love piano, then the harpsichord. I only like hearing piano in music when it's used appropriately, however. Harp would be my third favorite choice.

Nose Flute. I wish I knew how to play it. Apart from that the violin (which I can't play), bass (which I can't play either) and the nose (which I can play. Seriously it is an instroment, you just sort of make a noise through your nose and then put ur figures on either side (of your nose and press as and when u feel. I saw it on Hey Arnold >.< )
