technically plants are alive too, they feel every bit as much, as animals, therefore whatever you eat is murder.

I was vegetarian for some time, but it was annoying because everyone thought that I was because of that "oh, poor cow-chans, I can't eat them it's so cruel" way of thinking... but already it was not because of that, just that my body didn't need meat, so I didn't give meat to it (my body and my mind are totally different beings, so it's very difficult make them both work, they're always fighting)... but yeah, if you don't eat the cow-chan, it will be eated by another murder.
Where do you think you are? this is a planet in which you eat or are eated!

PS: hahahaha....

of course I am not a scientist, but I think that even if plants are alive , they haven't a brain and it is prooved that in order to suffer , you must have a brain and nervous system ...anyway I must eat something ;_;

I am not against the fact to kill animals for eating but against the horrible way that humans use to do this...and as I can't check by myself , I prefer avoid eating meat!

Good, because I used soap to kill a few billion bacteria in the shower this morning, and then I didn't even eat any of them. I'm so wasteful

BTW, what about carnivorous plants like Venus flytraps? Are you allowed to eat them?

i think nothing happens or exists without a purpose, so i think we aren't built to be omnivores just to become vegetarians. if we had to be vegetarians, we probably wouldn't be built to eat meat as well. and i probably wouldn't survive as a vegetarian since i'm very picky on food, and there are a lot of vegetables i don't like :P.

on topic: i just had apple pie and i'm really full now.

There's more to the head of broccoli?

I'm not sure if it's really true or not, but I heard that broccoli has an IQ of 10! :D

And some people have the IQ of broccoli but let's not get into that. ;)

The way I see it, it's not a matter of which being feels or doesn't feel - since they're alive it's one and the same to me (and how can you really judge how/if something feels when as an organism you're so different anyway).

But just because as a human I am able to eat everything doesn't mean I have to eat everything. As a human I am also able to kill babies in their cradles, set fire to churches and launch nuclear bombs. The mentality of 'if you weren't meant to do it you wouldn't have been given the ability to do it' doesn't seem logical to me.

So to me, again, it's merely a matter of 'I feel that stepping on every other creature on the planet just to support my own existence doesn't seem right - cause why is my own existence all that important anyway? - and since I don't need or have to do it I won't do it'. And since humans are able to survive without eating meat it's not even a matter of supporting your existence. It's a matter of supporting your greed.

That's the theory. But I do eat meat on occasion cause I am a greedy human that is used to taking everything available to them for mere pleasure. At least I know my place though. ;)

I was about to say something else, until I heard this part. Now I'm not ashamed to admit I'm just greedy for protein

i like meat too, but i also support groups that try to make the lifes of those animals a bit better. for example the way they're transported is horrible.

I was raised a vegetarian. No meat, poultry, or seafood.

When I was 12 or so, I started eating seafood on a limited basis. Eventually I ate all varieties of seafood, and chicken.
People asked why I didn't eat pork or beef, then. And I'm not sure why, but it just doesn't seem right. I think that if I was going hungry, I could kill a fish or a chicken.
But a cow or a pig? Noooooo fucking way. I couldn't do it, physically or mentally. So the thought of eating pork or beef is a bit abhorrent, to me, personally.

Culturally, societies with a low amount of beef/pork in their diets are healthier, especially if their staple meats are fish accompanied with vegetables, and their preparation methods aren't too fatty. Case in point? The Japanese. Eat your natto, boys and girls. ;)

What I last ate? Diet Cherry 7-up. It's all I've had all day, haha. x_x

Prey in its natural habitat

Definately. That's why it's also a good idea to go hunting for the sake of eating what you catch. Actually I don't really hunt...I just have a friend who has a dad who hunts, and so whenever we visit, we get to eat elk-burgers and such. ^_^

*notices Gloombox's post and decides to edit*

More on topic, ehehe... ^^; Yeah what I last ate/drank was two Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a crunchy green apple and soda.

Hunting vs. buying

I think it's terrible when people hunt for sport/lifestyle instead of to actually eat what they're going to shoot, but don't you think it's cruel the way meat is mass-"produced" in the US? True, if you don't eat the products someone else will; it is a tough call... But I think it's at least more fair to the animal if you hunt it down in its natural habitat, just like its natural predators would...not raise it in banal, crowded living conditions to be slaughtered and packaged off later.

Although I'm not saying I'm not a hypocrite, I eat store-bought/fast-food meat too. It's difficult being very moral these days. :|
