I gave the album a listen.

And my god, I actually got chills. I never thought I'd like anything by Dir en Grey this much. I'm on Red Soil right now, (can't wait to listen to Bugaboo,) and I like how it's progressing so far.

I find it dark and soothing, not particularly rough on my ears, and not too haze either. I found Marrow too 'blank', and it didn't at all stick to my memory, whereas Uroboros has flavour. I like this flavour.

You know, when I gave it a first listen, I was like well, there is more screaming than I thought and I didnt think I was going to like it and Im kinda mixed.

I like it better than The Marrow of a Bone in my book by far (though I did like a decent amount of songs off of it, but it was way too screamy for me)

Though some of the screaming I really dislike on this cd. Im not a big fan of the super super deep screaming. But not all of it is like that so it's cool. But I really love it when he sings out in this cd. There are times when Kyo sings out and lets it ring and just sings notes and it sounds almost arabic at times and I love it. He shows alot of range (though at his highest, you can tell he is stretching it, but it still sounds good).

Musically it blows the Marrow of a Bone out of the water. Way more intricate guitar work and it just comes together much better.

Overall Im glad I pre-ordered it.

Ive never really listened to Dozing Green, but that and the next track I realize I like them because they remind me of Tosinn <3
or wait, maybe its the track before Dozing Green. .... or before that?

Ugh, yes. He needs to learn to carry high notes without screeching. Ware, yami to te... has a lovely melody but it's overpowered by how shrill he sounds. Annoying!

Overall though, after numerous listens I like this album quite a lot. Anyone else think it's got a similar feel to MUCC's SHION album? It's not as varied and has a much darker tone, but the whole progressive rock-mystery with ethnic undertones gives me a similar feel.

Though, it occurred to me a lot of these songs are probably really boring/bad live. :| Dir en grey lacks the in-concert subtlety to pull most of them off, imo.

I'll give you that, for the most part... I feel it really depends on the venue with them. I couldn't imagine a lot of Marrow being performed on stage given my live experience with them. But the smaller intimate venues of the last US tour really helped bring the album across. Almost enjoyed every track on that album more live than not. Weird.

I am thinking the same for this tour. Again, with a lot of the smaller venues, I think a lot more of the subtleness of the album will be represented well enough. I hope so at least.

On that note, I LOVE this album. LOVE IT! The band seems to be finding themselves again. At least, coming back to what they know they are powerful at. I hate to bash on Marrow, but after so many tries, I just can't get with it. And I won't lie that it scared me for the future of Deg. But all is calm now :)

Music video for Vinushka is out. They actually shrunk the song by 4 minutes to get the PV down to 5 something. They actually cut out the majority of the heavy parts.

Can anyone actually read the lyrics in the booklet to Uroboros? I swear, who the hell though to make the print that small with grey on black?

If anyone ever gets them up, or if I ever get a magnifying glass out, Ill post them.

I can do some scans in from the limited edition booklette. It's red on black but it's not as back as the grey on black. :)

Live report for Toronto show coming soon! Just have to collect some thoughts. *LOL*

They did the same thing with Marrow of a Bone. The limited edition had horrid grey-on-black writing. Impossible for me to read, but someone was able to because the lyrics can be found easily.

I got my copy of Uroboros today! YAY! The limited edition (with red lyrics booklet), 2 CD's and B3-size poster (which I LOVE).

Yeah, this was worth it.

Really? I thought provinces like Alberta had it much worse in winter.

Wish I went to the Toronto date, but oh well. Actually would have liked to go to Montreal's date instead, because I don't like where the Guvernment is located. Seriously, My friend and I drove a bit too far from the venue last year and it looked like the slums of hell.

EDIT: Oh yes, not to mention it's located right by the lake, and with these winter dates, it's HELL in line, I'll never line up so early again. Edgey was still there before us last time. I don't know how you do it. XD
