I thought, hey, why not make a thread about our favorite singers. Do a top six and say why.

1. Satsuki - Ex - Rentrer en Soi/ Solo
SATSUKI+1264397157.jpg

Im not too big a fan of Rentrer en Soi, but I do like some of their stuff. Plus his solo works are pretty decent. But overall, Id have to say right now he is my favorite vocalist. He has such an impressive range, plus alot of emotion in his voice to back that up.

2. Satoshi - Girugamesh
Girugamesh+-+Satoshi.jpg

Old Girugamesh, not a big fan of. But as they went on, they got MUCH better. I fell in love with them when the Alive single came out. I tend to like about half of the stuff on each cd from them. Though almost all of their singles are very good. I like Satoshi because not only does he have a very good clean vocal voice, but he also can scream amazingly and his rap lyrics are good too.

3. Taka - One Ok Rock
0.jpg

I instantly liked One Ok Rock when I heard them. Based more in a punk sound, with the edge of rock. Their new cd Niche Syndrome has a much more rough sound too it vocally. Taka has really good clean vocals and does good yells and stuff now. Good band. Good Singer.

4. Tomo - Vistlip
000wex2s.jpg

Vistlip is another band that has gotten better as they went on. Great bunch of musicians. I like Tomo because to me, he sounds different than alot of other visual band vocalists. Nice and expressive.

5. Gackt - Ex Malice Mizer, Gackt solo
1216_gackt_380.jpg

We all know Gackt. Im very fond of his vocals. I do think he has lost a step vocally either due to age or smoking, but he still sounds good. It's not that he sounds bad just he used to have more, desparation in his voice when he was younger I think, which I really liked. He still sounds good but uses alot more vocal harmony tricks. Overall though Gackt is still my favorite vocalist if you could up over the years and all his career, but at this moment in time, he stays here.

6. Kamijo - Ex Lareine, Versailles
Descendant_of_Rose_Kamijo_by_vampir.png

Kamijo has two very distinct vocal styles which is cool IMO. Gives him some diversity. Plus I like the way he virbrato's. Nice deep expressive voice with a good range, high energy, and alot of charisma.

Others of note
Tatsuro from Mucc - Though he uses WAY too many effects now
Juka - I liked him more when he wasnt in his new band (though the new songs are getting better), he just needs to stay away from the falsetto that he struggles to reach.
The Kiddie - Yusa - he has a good voice and its a more happy voice. I like it at times.[/img]

Glad I have a top 6 XD I have been very selective with jrock lately..

1.Kaya (ex-ISOLA, ex-Schwarz Stein)
Ever since Schwarz Stein <3 and as a matter of fact, in his 'way back' projects his voice is ever so impressive. I love his high and low tones, both are so pleasant to my ears~ Aside from that, he's an inspiration for me as a person.

2. Asagi (D)
His voice is so powerful <3 It distorts beautifully! It's filled with such emotion. He's also very charming~

3. Kamijo (ex-Lareine, Versailles)
Well of course XD His voice strengthened so much over the years, it blew my mind. Because Lareine/New Sodmy was something I could tolerate for a maximum of 30 mins.

4. Jyou (Exist†Trace)
Her. Voice. Is. So. Sexy.
And so is she.

5. Atsushi Sakurai (BUCK-TICK)
Sexy too.. I just love the sound of his voice, I have a thing for it XD And what is there not to love about this man?

6. Klaha (ex-Pride of Mind, ex-Malice Mizer)
His voice can also be powerful when achieved, like there's something both calming and powerful about it. XD "Shiroi" especially, left a big impression on me.

Another singer I really like, is Ryo from 9Goats Black Out. His voice and music are definitely meant to be. And Dada, from Velvet Eden, why? It's a strange voice, it attracts me a lot *-*

I made a top 4 because I can't recall any other male singer I like. Maybe Kamijo but I am not sure what to put there.

4. Klaha. Oh man. He has a very nice voice. I'm not that fan of Malice Mizer but this band was the one which opened me the door of knowledge to visual kei. And, between the MM eras, Klaha's is my favorite, for his voice, although I like songs from every era.

At some point I was kind of very fan of Klaha, that I made the impossible to get the Pride of Mind album cd. And more than in MM, I love him in PoM.

3. GPK. His deep voice is just great. I have always prefered male voices and that's why I like gpk's voice. Although I only like a few gpkism songs, I think 60% of that is his voice in them.

2. Dada. Odd one. Once again, I'm always attrackted by non popular stuff. This is an example. Dada's voice is highly rejected, but I just find it awesome. He, as Kaya, can be detectable whenever you are listening to something. Like: "oh this is Kaya singing, or Dada sings in this song?? omg" Stuff like that. I also like the fact he doesn't try to modify his voice at all and his voice is faithful from the live to the record.

1. Kaya. I am not against any other band or anything but, when it comes to vkei bands, sometimes I believe the same person is singing in all of them. Kaya just blew me with his totally different voice and style. I also like the fact he chose a different music genre to incursionate in music that is not the same vkei style that most of the bands now.

I also love how he, although dressed and efforting to look and act like a woman, on stage he just sing with his man normal voice, no high pitched or trying to make it sound like anything, it's just his natural voice.

Juka- My favorite singer of all time. ever. You know how a dog's leg goes crazy when you scratch it in exactly the right spot? that's my soul listening to Juka :D

gackt- as much as I dislike gackt, I am very fond of his vocals in MM and perhaps the beginning of his solo career.

Kamijo-I was a big Lareine fan, and I do miss Kamijo's Lareine vocals. I was a bit iffy on his Versailles vocals but he seems to be settling into it nicely now

Seth- Seth has excellent control over his voice, deliciously smooth, deep vocals but i'm not sure why he isn't my number 1.

Kaya- Pretty smooth vocals, although i'm not really a fan of his music style

Asagi- I've grown to like his ridiculous falsetto

This is just a list of my favourite Japanese vocalists, I don't know if the term "J-rock" is relevant or not. (Also, the list isn't in any particular order).
shizuka.jpg

1. Shizuka Miura (Shizuka)
She had a beautiful voice that just worked so well with the psychedelic/shoegaze/noise rock her band made.

894.jpg

2. Takashi Mizutani (Les Rallizes Denudes)
Not a technically gifted singer obviously, but his echo-laden ghostly hollering was awesome.

2_4a.gif

3. Keiji Haino (Fushitsusha, Nijiumu, Lost Aaraaff, Vajra, Aihiyo, solo)
He yells and screams a lot, but he actually is a really good singer. Just listen to the 26 minute track from the first Fushitsusha album, at the end he hits this incredible high note.

0.jpg

Hisayoshi Hiraga (Rosenfeld, Aion, Harkenkreuz)
4. The decent but not-that-great thrash of Rosenfeld and Aion was improved immensely by his amazing howl. If pushed, I might say he's my favourite metal vocalist.

Tetsu.jpg

5. Tetsu (Malice Mizer, Zigzo, Nil)
My favourite MM vocalist. I just think he had a really great voice and that it's a shame he left.

lol

taking over Kyouka, Hisui, Kon, Akira, Daisuke (NéiL). Adding Kyohei and Hakuei, Yukari (Baiser) Izam, Ryuichi (I think the singer of Luna Sea is really bad but he amuses me, that is why I like Luna Sea) to the bad vocalists that I like.

other vocalists that I like are Daisuke (Kagerou), KöHey, Asagi (can be horrific as well when he is singin to high), Yomi, Hizumi, Kyo (D'erlanger...)

Uh just saw that I have to chose 6 of them.

Going with Kyouka, Daisuke (Kagerou), KöHey, Hakuei, Hizumi and Ryuichi.
Hizumi was quite impressive live.
I quite like Daisuke's voice. He was able to sing slow and fast songs alive
Hakuei sometimes sounds like a guinea pig somebody stood on, but I quite like it
Ryuichi is fun. His gestures are great during live. Nobody can sing a lalalala as emotional as he does.
Kyouka the living siren (poor Dante and poor neighbours
KöHey is an amazing singer (leaving out his slight lisp when he sings balads)
Kyouka sounds like a

Too bad I can't think of any girl/woman, though I really like Miki Furukawa's voice (Supercar).

Struggled to narrow it down far enough, so this is going to be a list of 8. Deal with it.

8 ) Morrie (Dead End)
He has a wonderfully unconventional voice more in line with 80's goth, which is no bad thing.

7) Atsushi Sakurai (Buck-Tick)
He has the most incredible stage presence I've ever seen.

6) Gackt (Malice Mizer, solo)
Haven't followed his post-MM career at all, but I didn't have to to know that he's both a brilliant vocalist and a brilliant performer.

5) Juka (Moi Dix Mois, Hizaki Grace Project, solo, Xover, Vii-Sense)
Incredibly talented with a lot of potential. People were worried when he joined his latest band that he'd sound generic, but I honestly don't think he could if he tried.

4) Toshi Deyama (X Japan)
He hasn't got the best voice aestethically, but he's one of those people who could sing the phone book and you'd believe every word of it.

3) Jyou (Exist Trace)
Amazing and emotive singing voice, switches between singing and screaming quite well, and is actually a breath of fresh air when it comes to Japanese female vocalists, as so many insist upon singing like five year old girls on helium.

2) Kamijo (Lareine, Versailles)
Great stage presence and when he performs you can tell he wants to be there. His voice is both distinctive and brilliant without being over-polished.

1) Tetsu Takano (Malice Mizer, Zigzo, Nil)
People say he sounds like a dying cow. If this is true, then dying cows should have a stranglehold on the world music scene. It's the raw emotion in his voice that does it for me.

A dying cow? Mouaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I only know what the live ones sound like, but I imagine a dying one must sound AWFUL, ahahahah!

Ah... yes, I, er, suppose it might sound a bit like that... **scared **

Apparently there's a farmer in my area who brought an ill cow into his house to warm up, only for it to die in his living room. If you want to verify your text impersonation, ask him and he'll give you marks out of 10. Assuming of course that he doesn't take one look at the random French woman standing outside his house making farmyard noises and sprint as fast as possible out the back door. :P ;)

Country people don't scare me a bit. Quite a few of my uncles and aunts on my father's side were farmers, so the farm world is no problem to me. Calves are cute and piglets are funny, hens are dumb and rabbits as soft as cats.

That farmer who took his ill cow inside his home was quite stupid though, so I guess he wouldn't mind me, eheheheh! :P

I've always found piglets weirdly adorable. They aren't classically cute animals but... come on...http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l218gjX7NB1qzlvyyo1_500.jpg

Did you know that pigs are VERY intelligent, and they are VERY affectionate too. If you adopt a piglet, it will follow you everywhere you go, just like a dog. And they're not naturally dirty, it's just because they're kept in excessively small enclosures. And piglets are lovely, they're very active and their skin is so thin when they're born that you can almost see through it, which is scary.

You made me regret I can't spend some time with your farmer friend. He might like my French accent and universal silliness. :P

My top 5 is the following:

1. Dada, I love his voice, Velvet Eden and his look so much I can't put words to it. Dada is an great artist and he's just so close to perfection a musician can get. (a long with Közi...). Dada's voice has so much emotion and it really touches me.
2. Klaha, his voice is very beautiful and unique.
3. Közi, I love Közi from the bottom of my heart, but he has to get place number 3...unfortunatly. I really like to listen to him, not just singing but talking XD his voice feels very calm, which I love. ...When I can't sleep I try to think of his voice so I could get to a calmer level and eventuelly sleep^^
4. Gackt, *no comment, other than his voice is great...*
5. Ryoichi Endo, his voice really spellbounds me when I listen to Soft Ballet, it's great.

The thing is : don't get involved with the animals you're going to kill and eat in the end, but all farmers will tell you they care an awful lot about their animals. Hence that farmer's totally irrational behaviour when his cow fell ill. Not to mention that a cow means quite a lot of money, and cattle-breeders are rather poor in this day and age...
