Well, considering half the show was canned, I must say Kioku to Sora ~Saikai soshite Yakusoku~. It was one of the only TRULY *LIVE* songs. It was a HUGE disappointment to see them lip sync ALL of Kyoumu no Naka de no Yuugi. Shame shame...

o_o;;;

I didn't think they lip synched. I haven't seen the concert in ages, but I can never tell with them. Even with Merveilles, I was surprised at how it sounded. I just can't decided if they do lip sync or not, can never tell. *shrugs*

Keep in mind they may just have played live and then dubbed the video over with the studio track... I think this was done on that Beast of Blood live clip that's out there.

I refuse to believe Malice Mizer would ever lip-synch. o_O

Dude come onnnn... o_o; there's no lip synching in the Bara live. Prerecorded instruments sure, but no lip synching. They've never done it o_O;

And... I also thought we were discussing acts from the live >>;

Not to mention that Shiori live had a very big difference to Bara no Seidou's sound.. the guitars were more upfront, & not hidden behind organs.

Mkay, it would make sense for them to re-do the audio in post IF the recordings sounded the same, but if you watch Kyoumu no Naka de no Yuugi again, you'll notice that their "singing" IS in fact OUT OF SYNC with what was being played on the DVD. Also, their mouths tend to move AWAY from the mics, and this would OBVIOUSLY create a change in volume (esp. since they weren't really SINGING in the song, but rather SPEAKING [i.e. it'd already be at a lower volume). Now, they could've just done a *SHITTY* job editing it, but with Malice Mizer's ginormous budget and Mana's perfectionism, there's NO WAY it'd be outta sync like that UNLESS it were lip-synced. Also, it'd actaully make sense for him to want that, seeing as how he IS a *HUGE* perfectionist and you can't screw up with a recording, no ? But, I'm pretty sure Klaha's singing was real, and I KNOW Moi dix Mois' lives are real. Sure, some of the instruments are canned, but the guitars, drums, vocals, and bass are completely real. And, that leads me to believe that Malice's lip-syncing may have NOT been up to Mana, but he must've at least agreed to it, and it's hard to believe he wouldn't at the same time. I mean, think about it: he's had SUCH a huge impact on the band, and he was pretty much running the show during Bara no Seidou. But, I know, that SUCKS to know. Malice is my favorite band, and I *HATE* that of them, but I still enjoy their music. But, damn... :(

Actually, Cookie is right, alot of that concert is lip synched for about.. half the concert. I think up until about.. just after Kyomu no nakade no Yuugi. She's correct that if you watch some of their mouth movements don't match up correctly at all. You can also notice the difference in the microphone volumes from when Klaha speaks and sings, his voice isn't THAT powerful to make a totally different sound. One time my friend pointed out "the vocals sound exactly like on the CD" and he wasn't saying that a good way. Now, I'd usually say that they're just that good, but he's into M+M ALOT and he's an audio engineer for years now, so he knows what he's talking about.

I've noticed this tons of times when I show it to people for the first time but I never end up saying anything because I just.. don't want them to think they do that all the time, which they certainly didn't.

I dissagree. Sorry but I don't see it. They performed the same show twice so the DVD takes parts from both days (this is very usual practice) so it's likely the image they got from one day to have been preferable but dubbed with sound from the other. However I still don't see it. I'll tell you where I do see it though - Saikai. That's very likely. But I mean come on, I don't consider that singing anyway. They're just wispering some stuff and I bet the main reason that might not be live is cause Mana's voice has a ton of distortion on it to make it sound so feminine.

The reason the vocals don't appear to be on time in songs like Kyomu is because - and you'll notice this with the percussion as well - there's loads of sound effects on them, delay and echo included. There's the same amount of delay in fact all the way - bad timing once sure, but this is constant. And they don't sound the same as on the album to me at all. But this isn't proof of much cause they might as well have rerecorded them specifically for the live.

But anyway, having said all that, I'm not that opposed to prerecorded backing vocals at lives of this magnitude, especially since Kozi (whose singing is in question here I'm guessing, not Klaha's) was not a vocalist and had a lot of things to do on stage. You can't put up a show like that live all the way.

Sure, some of the instruments are canned, but the guitars, drums, vocals, and bass are completely real.
GuitarS? You must have been kind of drunk when you watched Scars of Sabbath if you were seeing 2 Manas on stage. :P In other words, there was prerecorded guitar as well.

I still hear vocal tracks straight from the CD, I don't hear any differences what-so-ever and even if they were that good, you'd still be able to hear differences. I think it's quite obvious to the eye when vocals aren't matching up properly. Now, I wouldn't doubt some vocals from the second day being thrown over a better visual performance, or vice versa, but I don't think that's the case. The only real good, fully natural performances that I really enjoy on there are Shiroi, Gensou Rakuen and Kioku to Sora.

In any case, I think most of can agree that it's not their most phenominal show.. I end up skipping the first half of it anyway. x_X

__-__ my favourite live by far...

EDIT: Can you tell me which songs you think are straight from the CD? I'm curious to give them another listen.

Relax? Every single post of your since you have joined has either questioned my rules or broke them. I am not in the very best of moods right now and you are pushing every last single buttom of mine. So I suggest you take a look at those once more or don't bother to post. And don't tell me to relax either.

It sounds, to me, like you believe what you want to believe. Oh, and I ment to say "guitar," not "guitars." Gomen nasai.
