Saw tonight: Adéla ještě nevečeřela, which is roughly a cross between "The Naked Gun" and "Little Shop of Horrors". It was great, and apparently you can buy DVDs of the movie with English subtitles rather than trekking out to cultural centers to see it, if you're so inclined. But the version I saw was a newly made restoration sponsored by a handful of European nations.

The carnivorous plant was made by Jan Švankmajer, who Kozi did some music for several decades later.

EDIT: found copies of the new restoration for sale:

No idea Közi did music for Švankmajer. What a small world.
I love his short animations, but his feature films are really cool too, "Surviving Life" especially being fantastic.

Been watching some j-horror recently. Bought the "Ju-On" boxset that also includes the original straight to video films. Once again I feel sad and pathetic for watching the same films I've seen multiple time already, especially when it comes to horror films because they just stop being scary after repeated viewings.

Watched Kiyoshi Kurosawa's "A Journey to the shore" too. Good film by a good director.

I watched The Lighthouse, I really liked the VVITCH, but The Lighthouse was too art-house for me.
Much preferred this video.

Admit it, yer fond of his cooking ain't ye?

Thoroughly enjoyed The Lighthouse and need to give it another watch sometime.

Dafoe returns in Egger's upcoming take on the classic, "Nosferatu". Certainly, I am looking forward to it. Especially with "Renfield" taking the slapstick route.

Haven't been too active in front of the goggle box lately, although I did sit through a rather enjoyable viewing of Jordan Peterson cutting women's clothes in 'The Phantom Thread".

What I found more intriguing was "風たちの午後" one of the lesser known works of Yazaki Hitoshi. A worthwhile take on an unrequited attraction turned obsession.

I have been living under a rock and had no idea who this guy was until recently and even then, I'm still not exactly sure who he is, much like Andrew Tate.
Dude has a whiny voice and seem to cry a lot, not really sure what that is all about.

New Kamen Rider movie came out, I've heard it is pretty good. I might go and check it out.

Saw last night: The Mission
About the famous incident where a young missionary went out to try preaching to the uncontacted tribe on the North Sentinel Islands and got killed by them. As it turns out, he documented much of his early life on Youtube and some of his friends and acquaintances were willing to talk. They also brought on that guy who lived with the Piraha people in Brazil, and the last guy to take a boat anywhere near the North Sentinels.
The film tells much of the story through animation, which was done pretty well.
I'd recommend it if it happens to be playing locally, but this is another one of those documentaries that will surely vanish into thin air after dropping off the documentary film circuit. Many such cases.
