I started watching Xena: Warrior Princess. ::meev::
It's actually a pretty fun show and not as trashy as I expected. The fight scenes are cleverly choreographed, and the kinda hammy acting (especially on the part of the villains) works for it. I can see why it was popular.

I also investigated this Youtuber named "pewdiepie" who's apparently the most famous person on ~teh Internetz~ or something, and it was the cringiest crap I've ever seen. I really don't understand the appeal of watching some guy scream and make faces while playing video games, but I guess more power to him if he can make money by doing that.
As for me I'll stick to videos of cute animals being cute.

I don't get it either - I tried watching his walkthrough of The Cat Lady once and had to find a different channel.

I think his girlfriend is a blogger who is famous for wearing clothes.
If that makes him any more legitimate.

I don't understand what the big deal about him is either. I tried watching one of his "Amnesia" gameplaying videos, but there wasn't anything funny or interesting.

I regularly watch Vanoss and his friends' funny video game playing though.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VanossGaming
Vanoss is 2nd to pewdiepie in terms of gaming accounts and he totally deserves more attention. He edits his videos really well, they do skits (in GTA 5 and other games, which is hilarious), play prop hunt, try new games, find glitches, and they record any funny thing that happens. There's a great camaraderie among them (Vanoss is the leader) so it always makes me smile to watch their characters go off on another adventure.

They are also all Spongebob fans and they're all in their 20s so we have a lot in common. (None of their faces are shown in the videos.)

My favorite, favorite, favorite though is H2ODelirious. I found him through Vanoss because he's one of the gang, but he also uploads his own videos where he plays with his IRL best friend Cartoonz (the two are hilarious together) or on his own. He's the silliest one of the group and has an infectious laugh, which sounds higher-pitched because of his bad microphone. I love how he's able to laugh at himself, act dumb, and he's just funny in general. He also plays a lot of scary games and obscure ones.

He and Vanoss are the closest and sometimes play games just the two of them, which I love! They're currently selling a poster with the whole gang on it and I've always wanted it :B

So H2ODelirious is currently playing "Soma" and other games like Fallout and Assassin's Creed, but OMG he's taking forever to upload the next Soma video GOD. Really, I look forward to these things! I NEED MY NEXT SOMA VIDEO. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.

So, yeah, I don't get why Pewdiepie is so popular.

I saw "Young Frankenstein" and WOW I did not expect that sort of turn and ending XD It was so cornola though, lol.

I LOVE this movie. Especially if you watch it back to back with the classic starring Boris Karloff. Absolutely hilarious~
They did a wonderful job with the references and the way they managed to capture some of the original feeling made it pretty nostalgic, especially if you are familiar with the original on some level. I believe they even used some of the same sets and sound effects, camera angles, filming techniques, etc...

I also recommend watching Bela Legosi in "Dracula" followed by "Dracula: Dead and Loving It" for many of the same reasons, though I felt it would have been a better film in black and white as well. It was a fun and faithful adaptation

I only made it through half of "Dracula Dead and Loving it", I didn't think it was very funny.

It's not for everyone, Roger Ebert didn't really care for it either ^^; I found a lot of it very entertaining, but it's true that it's not one of Mel Brooks' better comedies.

Currently mooching off somebody's Netflix and watched a couple things, mostly early 00s Disney movies that passed under my radar:

Rosemary's Baby: I read the book sometime last year, and even though I knew how the story went, the suspense in the film was still very effective.

Disney's Atlantis The Lost Empire: This was okay, like I can tell they put effort into it, but it just wasn't very memorable. Too many characters, and a lot of magic mumbo jumbo at the end that didn't make a whole lot of sense. Also I thought the character designs were ugly, so I guess I'm not a fan of Mike Mignola.

The Emperor's New Groove: Again it was okay, the Kronk character was pretty funny, but reading about the original plans for the movie (a big epic about the Incan empire) made me kind of sad that it turned into a Hercules-style buddy comedy.

I'm about halfway through Treasure Planet, and it's a lot like Atlantis so far, but with more annoying characters.

Also I was planning to watch the new Hellsing Ultimate Abridged episode only to find out it's been delayed several months, BOOOOOO.

If memory serves, there was a direct-to-DVD sequel to this film... They tried to make an animated series on TV but it was canceled after a few episodes and they joined the episodes together and called it a movie.

Then John Lasseter put the hammer down not long after and direct-to-DVD Disney Sequels became a thing of the past that no one was sad to see die out. ::cop::

Unless you enjoyed Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas. ::gaku::

I did NOT XD I just liked Forte and he was the best thing about that movie. One of the lame things about the movie was how they made Belle all silly and Beast was all, "FINE THEN YOU CAN JUST STARVE" all over again. Dude, Belle wouldn't put up with that stuff in the first movie, why are they doing it here?

I'd elaborate further but I'm BOLTED TO THE WALL.

Only time will tell if the Frozen sequel becomes the first watchable Disney sequel, or joins the rest in bad-sequel hell.

And on the subject of Disney, I watched the Short Films Collection.
It was actually a pretty cool and diverse collection of shorts for all ages.
My favorites were "How To Hook Up Your Home Theater" (done in the style of the classic Goofy how-to shorts, very funny) and "Paperman" (really neat visual style with a sort of faux-2D effect). "Feast" won an Oscar, but all I could think was "that dog would be dead by now if it ate all that crap in real life". ::meev::
Of course since Amazon customers are morons, half the reviews are complaining about "The Little Match Girl" being too sad, and only getting 5 minutes of "Frozen" related content.

I dunno why people are so shocked about the match girl though, characters have been dying in Disney movies since forever. Bambi's mom, Simba's dad, Kocoum, that bug from the frog princess, and pretty much all the villains die in some way or another.

But what did you think of Belle's Magical World? It didn't even have anything like Forte to make ANY of it salvageable... ::meev::

I don't know what the worst sequel was (I couldn't bring myself to watch them all) but I think from what I saw, it's a tie between the Lady and the Tramp and Fox and the Hound sequels. They are so far removed from the originals, I have no idea how they were conceptualized. Obviously by people who only read the Wikipedia entries for the films and ran from there.

Or everyone just developed the stories from playing a game of Mad Libs.

Why have you watched so many Disney direct-to-video sequels?

Adult beverages were involved. I've also sat through a disturbing amount of Land Before Time sequels, especially considering seeing even one of those sequels is seeing far too many. ::batsu::

(Remembering exact details also means that an insufficient amount of alcohol was consumed. )

I'm watching it on my iPad right now as I type this ::meev:: It's kind of hard for me to resist watching new scenes of Belle and Beast because they're my favorite couple, but still, this looks bad. I like this exchange:

Beast: She makes me nervous, Lumiere. Why is that?
Lumiere: She is a woman, master.

This seems like a step down from the Enchanted Christmas, even animation wise, which is hard to believe.

L6a1p.png

So the first scene of Belle and Beast is them having lunch and she's telling him the BEST STORY EVER but Beast can't concentrate because he's SO NERVOUS that he gets all hot and bothered and keeps touching his collar and then yells for the windows to be opened, making everyone cold, and he bashes one of the servants, a book named Webster (...), off the table because Webster was annoying him, making Belle upset and she storms off and he FLIPS OVER A TABLE. Man, what a disaster! What's going to happen now?!

Now Cogworth and Lumiere try to mend the situation while Belle and Beast stay alone in their rooms with dramatic music. The servants are getting nervous because WE NEED TO BREAK THE SPELL.

They're already making it seem like Belle just ~needs~ Beast's approval or something. So now they're good again after the servants make Beast apologize by accident...

God, there isn't a real plot to this at all and it's more about Beast and Belle not getting along because of misunderstandings XD

And Beast is a lunatic again as usual. I don't know why the sequels do this. In the first movie at least he had some legitimate reasons for saying "OK FINE THEN YOULL STARVE" "DONT GO INTO THE WEST WING" "WHY DID YOU GO INTO THE WEST WING" "I TOLD YOU TO NOT GO INTO THE WEST WING" "AGHHHH GET OUT."

But here he has this huge temper problem and in the Enchanted Christmas too, where he blows up at anything.

Parchment paper, Quill, and Webster forged a letter of apology and sent it to Belle so that they could get along again. When Beast found out he got so mad he practically was going to kill them and he ran all over the castle trying to find them and Belle had to stand in or then he was going to "do something." So instead he throws them off a balcony and banishes them from the castle.

The three come back to the castle and Belle takes them in and Beast sees how kind she is and feels moved. He asks for forgiveness from everyone and says now he feels happy.

Now they're watching the sunset together with the servants and learning about the power of forgiveness. They leave those two alone to admire the sunset.

OMG the first song... is about forgiveness and listening with our hearts.

What is going on ::meev:: The next "episode" is about the love between Fifi the Feather Duster and Lumiere, even though I thought he was dating Chandeliera in the first episode. But here they say that Fifi and Lumiere went on their first date last year and now is their anniversary.

Lumiere is trying to get advice from Belle on what to tell Fifi during the anniversary and so Belle told him to tell her what happened on the first date. Fifi overhears and misunderstands and thinks that Belle is only pretending to be her friend and is actually having an affair with Lumiere.

Fifi: She has no shame! He weakens under the spell of the wretched enchantress!

BEST MOVIE EVER. I can't bear to watch the rest, although Fifi and Lumiere make up and have the best anniversary ever. Now Mrs. Potts is having a bad day because of the bad weather.

(PS: The Land Before Time sequels are great XD BIG BIG BIG BIG WAAAATER!)
I didn't see either of those, but Pocahontas 2 will always be the worst for me. Don't even get me started. Poor Richard had to sit through me telling him a play by play of the entire movie and just why it was so awful ::meev:: Just DON'T get me started. I would say it has a better storyline and quality than many of the sequels, but the fact that they changed the character personalities and love interests was THE WORST.

Hunchback of Notre Dame II is nearly tied with that one. It was god-awful too, especially because the art was so beautiful in the first that you can't help but compare the two. Quasimodo gets a girlfriend too, ugh.

Little Mermaid 2 was OK, not terrible, but not good either and I would say the same for Ariel's Beginning.

Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True was very lame (on par with Belle's Magical World), but I did actually enjoy Cinderella: A Twist in Time because the story was fun. It's one of those "what if" things, what if the Stepmother had the Fairy Godmother's wand and prevented Cinderella from succeeding in the end, after the fact. It had the Prince falling in love with Anastasia instead. It was pretty well done and I liked Anastasia's character.

I don't remember Aladdin's sequels besides the wedding, I remember enjoying the Lion King ones, and I don't think I saw any other ones...

OH, Mulan II wasn't so bad, but it wasn't great either.

I don't drink alcohol and I managed to survive through all these ::gaku::

What?? XD I really liked the first one and it made me so sad when the old lady said her poem and left Fox in the woods. And the ending was SO SAD. "You're my best friend Copper. Forever."

LOL Belle's face is killing me.

Well on the topic of sequels I watched How To Train Your Dragon 2 which was pretty good but the story wasn't as good as the first one. I don't think the explanation about his mom made a lot of sense. The animation was fantastic though.

I also watched the Metalocalypse Christmas episode, and it was so funny. Just the way they talk makes me laugh.

I saw the Independence Day sequel trailer and it brought back all sorts of memories of when I saw the first one way back in the 90's. I know it wasn't a critically acclaimed film, but it was a lot of fun! I'm actually quite excited for this film. It'll also be good to see Jeff Goldblum again.

In the sequel, Cooper joins a band. Then he starts not having enough time for Todd and gets obsessed with his band and then Todd is sad. The band members turn out to not be his real friends, so he leaves the band and goes off to be friends with Todd again.

It also stars Reba McEntire, Patrick Swayze and Jeff Foxworthy ::gaku::
