A friend of mine told me about this band and honestly I don't REALLY like it , yet this last album is not bad even though the sound in most of the songs seems (to me) a little too repetitive...

I'm sorry if it is too much to ask from my part but, could someone please post the lyrics of Incarnari, and Ekstasis...I don't quite get them~ (>_<)''

Ekstasis:

Pain! Pleasure! Is this what you want?

Pain! Pleasure! Is this what you need?

Pain! Pleasure! Is this what you want?

Pain! Pleasure! Is this what you need?

—-

In a world of pure incantation

No sacred words to be recite

Only the sound of desolation.

—-

You seek the name of your creator

No greater secret to unveil

Only a symbol of destruction.

—-

Don’t close your eyes, don’t be afraid

You’ll see an angel when you look into my eyes.

I could you show you a world you’ll never imagine.

Don’t close your eyes you’ll be afraid

You’ll see the end of this meaningless life

Let us hold our hands and pray

Forsaken in Paradise.

—-

Witness the light of divination

No sign of essence to behold

Only a vision of devastation.

—-

Let me take you to the realm of chaos

No higher power to obey

Only the sanctum of your freedom.

—-

Don’t close your eyes, don’t be afraid

Just take my hand, we’ll fly away together.

—-

Don’t close your eyes, don’t be afraid

You’ll see an angel when you look into my eyes.

I could you show you a world you’ll never imagine.

Don’t close your eyes, don’t be afraid

You’ll see the end of this meaningless life

Let us hold our hands and pray

Forsaken in Paradise.

—-

Don’t close your eyes, don’t be afraid

Just take my hand, we’ll fly away.

Don’t close your eyes, don’t be afraid

Just take my hand, we’ll fly away

Bought the CD so I got the lyrics booklet as well, I'll upload the others as well~

Most of his choruses start with "won't you" or "can't you" llol

Having said that, I really like Reliquia, Deceidere, priere and Ekstasis. I like the verse of Incanari but the chorus doesn't catch me that much. They're all great songs to sing (although the lyrics are kinda cheesy lol) and I've been embarrassing myself in camp a lot lol.

Still, I really like GPKISM. I really do. I want to do a cover of one of his songs some time.

Cheesy lyrics (and a very nice voice) are GPK's trademarks, aren't they? If somebody else wrote the lyrics, you'd immediately notice.

I noticed that too...xD
it's kind of funny~

My friend says their music matches his idea of romanticism...but, me, more than the lyrics I like the music.

Thank you Manneking for the lyrics. I really appreciate it and if you can upload the others too I will be eternally grateful ;)

I'll upload Reliquia, Decidere, Incarnari & Perire asap~ I actually quite like Reliquia's verses but the chorus is just dull. And the ending of Incarnari is pretty sweet imo. Just a shame he has such a fixed style when it comes to writing lyrics.

Reliquia:

I have no name for what I am
A relic rise from darken sand
I have no face for you to see
A lifeless phantom of deceit
I have no voice to speak or scream
Only a whisper from within
I have no form you could conceive
Mere figment of your memory.

Won't you call my name?
I have longed for you
Can't you see my heart?
Can't you see it begins to bleed?
Won't you stay with me, till the end of the time?
Remember me, let me live in your fantasy...

I have no eyes to see myself
Only the sight of eternal hell
I have no ears to hear your voice
A silent prison of endless void
I have no hands to touch your soul
Only the shadow of my thought
I have no feet to walk this earth
A land consumed by greed and scorn.

Won't you call my name?
I have longed for you
Can't you see my heart?
Can't you see it begins to beat?
Won't you call my name?
I have longed for you
Can't you see my heart?
Can't you see it begins to bleed?
Won't you stay with me, till the end of the time?
Remember me, even if I don't exist at all...
Remember me, in your dreams...
Remember me, in your dreams...

Decidere

Roaming in the shadows is my blacken soul
Burning with desire, frozen in deep sorrow
Like a gruesome ritual, It will never end
I could not close my eyes in this foresaken land.

My dearest love, won't you come to me and set me free?
I'm still trapped in this cage of everlasting dream.
My dearest love, won't you just give me one more kiss?
I'm still trapped in this world of my fantasy

The only thing in my mind is my darkest gear
Covered in black ashes, consumed all my tears
The garden of deprived, filled with rotting flesh
A portrait of destruction, painted with blood.

My dearest love, won't you come to me and set me free?
I'm still trapped in this cage of everlasting dream.
My dearest love, won't you just give me one more kiss?
I'm still trapped in this world of my savagery
My dearest love, won't you come to me and set me free?
I'm still trapped in this cage of sadistic memory.
My dearest love, won't you just give me one more kiss?
I'm still trapped in this world of my fantasy.

Perire

Descending endlessly
I could not fly with my wings
Can you hear my calling?
I have been waiting for you
Eternal solitude
I have forgotten my name
I could hear your voices emerging from the abyss.

Can you look into my eyes and tell me what you see?
Open your eyes, don't fall asleep
Witness the phantoms of my dream
Can you reach into my heart and tell me what you see?
Please hold on tight, don't let it go
This precious moment will never last.

I'm blazing furiously
I have endured my torment
Can't you see my essence slowly fading away?
Awaking from my dream
I have forgotten your name
I could see your shadow emerging from the heaven

Can you look into my eyes and tell me what you see?
Open your eyes, don't fall asleep
Witness the phantoms of my dream
Can you reach into my heart and tell me what you see?
Please hold on tight, don't let it go
This precious moment will never last.

Can you look into my eyes and tell me what you see?
Open your eyes, don't fall asleep
Witness the phantoms of my dream
Can you reach into my heart and tell me what you see?
Please hold on tight, don't let it go
Just stay with me forever
Can you look into my eyes and tell me what you see?
Open your eyes, don't fall asleep
Witness the phantoms of my dream
Can you reach into my heart and tell me what you see?
Please hold on tight, don't let it go
This precious moment will never last.

Won't you stay within my dreams
I never wanna be awake
Won't you stay within my dreams
I never wanna be awake.

Incarnari

Let me take you to my dream
Filled with roses of deceased
Won't you come and dance with me
The place of endless lust and greed.

(death voice): Let us scream, let us bleed

Bleed for the ritual of desire
filled with everlasting fear
won't you sacrifice your tear
for the one who never cares.

You'll find there's no need to cry
accept the fate of your demise
a perfect slave of my desire
You shalt scream for me tonight

You'll find there's no need to cry
accept the fate of your demise
All your pleasure set aside
You shalt bleed for me and die

Incarnation of your soul
Let me help you let it go
To the devil you have sold
Can't you feel it is so cold...

Incarnation of your soul
Let me help you let it go
By the angels I've been told
Eternal darkness you shalt behold!

-phew-, just wrote them all out in one go! Enjoy~

Why does he make grammatical errors? I'm puzzled since he has proven to have a good grasp of the language-

I blame Kiwamu for that ~ ;)

No, really, I wonder who wrote the lyrics...are they all from GPK? (or should I say Dj Ken? :/ )

Having purchased all of GPK's CD's since Sublimis I can tell you that GPK writes the lyrics for all of the English language songs... Kiwamu has only written the music for one English language song (Abaddon), and Kiwamu composes the music for and writes the lyrics for all of the Japanese language songs. I hope that clears that up for you. As for the grammatical errors in his songs, I'm inclined to believe that it's either something to do with Kiwamu's influence or the fact that he's pandering to a largely Japanese audience who may not notice the mistakes as easily.

Finally posting my opinion on the new CD.....it's good, but the older songs weigh it down for me. I've only managed to listen to Memoria twice it's just so........wrong and out of place. I think someone mentioned before that Kiwamu sounds like he's recycling his guitar riffs, I think you're right as the guitar is Strages sounds like Blam Honey's Artificial Angel (which if I remember correctly he did the guitar for on P.o.D.).

Ok, so all the GPK haters from the first thread should totally listen to Reliquia and form another opinion of him, because he has improved so much. I listened to the album a million times and I can say this for sure.. (Having listened to Sublimis, Atheos and all that a million times as well)

The formula for the older songs basically goes as 4 or 8 bar chord progression layered looped with as many trance/techno synths with delay and appregiated effects to form one thick mess of synth. Below the synths are distorted guitars and offbeat bass. There will be one "baroque" part which is introduced at the start or happens in the middle.

What I feel GPK was trying to do was to make his work slightly more complex but it's really just a mess of layering as much stuff on top of each other (e.g. Sublimis) without really considering how the vocal melodies and the instrumentation would interact with each other. The songs sound muddier and muddier as they reach the climax because of the huge mess of synths and shit which comes after each verse.

With Reliquia you can hear that GPK has evolved so much musically- for example, on a number of new tracks he uses 2 chord progressions in the songs - minor part for the verses, major parts for the chorus (I know, not terribly complex but a huge improvement) which adds lots of OOmph. There's also a lot of small details added here and there (e.g. timpani below the bass drum in Reliquia, 2 different snare sounds for Ekstasis..).

The synth instrumentation has improved a lot as well, he's now using catchy motifs instead of layering appregiated shit over and over each other. Everything is stripped down - he only uses what sounds good and what is necessary for the song.

He's also exploring and utilizing his vocal range so much more now.

The bass lines are still pretty much the same (off beat bass) but it works so much better here than in his earlier work. I think this is one part which can be further improved. He should try to write basslines in the style of "uterus" or "rink (blam honey)"

The mixing has improved tremendously and if you didn't listen to the singles or songs released on compilations Reliquia is an album worth the price (where on earth can you find an Album with full 15 tracks these days)

Tl; dr, Give Reliquia a chance if you hated his early work.

Best song: Ekstasis.
Do NOT listen to: Memoria.

Imo, this release shows that GPK is a better songwriter than Hora (the loops king).

Since I was probably one of the foremost critics when GPKism first started, your plea piqued my interest and I figured I'd at least ThouCylinder some of the tracks off of Reliquia ::meev::

Right now I'm listening to Ekstasis, which has a nice tight & punchy feel to it. The singing is decently good, the English is clear, and the production is better than I remember. I don't think I'm into electronica and loop-based music enough to get into GPKism in general, but at least this isn't a messy, meandering "song" with overly-processed vocals like the old stuff.

Reliquia, the title track, has a beautiful, melodic opening and good, clean orchestration. Typical electronica rhythm, and like Ekstasis it lacks the baroque elements and gothic feel that I thought was supposed to be GPKism's hallmark, but it's solid.

Judging from these two songs (which admittedly may not be representative of the whole album, but oh well I'm too disinterested to listen to the whole thing XD) I'd have to say you're definitely right. This is much better production and songwriting than their earlier stuff. It's curious that none of the baroque or even gothic atmosphere is really coming through here though. That's the last thing I would have expected GPK to distance himself from. These two songs sound more like traditional electro/pop fare than earlier GPKism stuff did both in terms of quality and atmosphere.

Kiwamu has said: "That is why I don't work for GPKISM anymore".

Can't wait to hear the new solo song on the compilation that's meant to be released this month :). I wonder if it'll reintroduce the baroque elements as has been mentioned being absent from the last release.

The song is really good. It is still looped based music, but unlike his earlier work, there are several parts to this song - almost like the song is developing as a traditional western art piece. However, i won't listen to it much because personally the essence of GPKISM is GPK's voice & sadly this track is just missing that...

It's really nice to see GPK challenging himself more theoretically & musically though. I like how he experimented a little with noise. If only there were vocals in this track.. it would be amazing.

GPK's strong point IS his voice, and that's what I want to hear first and foremost too!

There's going to be a vocal version on the album, I think Ken just wanted to get a new song out so people knew it wasn't the end of GPK/GPKISM/whatever. I like the absence of guitars in the new song, that's what really ever held me back from really liking GPKISM (then I personally don't think find Kiwamu a good guitarist.....).
