Well... stuff like Sim City and Planet Roll Call actually have some sense of consistancy, but his first few albums just seem like a random mess. Plus it didn't help that I was expecting it to be more "Electronic".

Au contraire mon frere! I actually think his first solo albums were the best.

Apparently no one else does though, because all the "fan favorite" songs these days seem to be from the later albums. ::kisaki::

My initial reaction to most of the songs of his songs so far has been "WTF is this!?"

But maybe that's the point :lol:

It's funny how when you listen to music it can evoke the memory of what you were doing when you first heard it.

Now whenever I hear Susumu Hirasawa I think of Google Street View ::meev::

Hirasawa just released a new boxset of his 20th-century solo works, "HALDYN DOME":

Comes with a 100-page book too, AND it's $60 cheaper for overseas orders than Japanese ones. Now that's service ::cred::

More than a service, that might be a global first!

Just out of curiousity, is Hirasawa well known outside of Japan? I've never even heard the name pop up except for this forum o_O

How is this CD? I might have to pick this up if it's really worth it~ ::cred::

Probably not, I'm just his shameless promoter/fangirl ::meev::

As for the boxset, it contains discs of all his solo albums up through "kyuusai no gihou" (but with no art or printed lyrics sheets) as well as a few discs of rarer side projects/misc.tracks. There's also a bonus disc with PDFs of all the lyrics, though you don't seem to be able to copy/paste them out or anything.
The box itself is a fancy multi-piece thing which looks pretty cool. The book has various photos of Hirasawa hanging around some sort of park (probably in Thailand XD), with pages explaining a bit about selected lyrics from his songs. I scanned a few with the intention of translating, but you know... lazy ::kisaki::

Why oh why is it that I never seem to get tired of Susumu Hirasawa. Almost every single project he works on makes me drool.

Oh man! 12 solo albums! That's incredible~ Looking forward to this!! Thanks for the news!

He might want to recheck the site though... Kind of a pricy album...

The Secret of The Flowers of Phenomenon
Susumu Hirasawa
November 23, 2012 release
CHTE-0071 $ 3150(tax-included)

For that cost, he'd better come to our houses and perform the album in person! ::cred::

Sort of off topic, but I didn't know you could just order most of Hirasawa's albums just like that. I guess I thought they were out of print or something XD;

Wait, Hen-Gen-Ji-Zai is a rearrangement of those songs? I didn't even know that came out (recently, too), I love most of the songs on it.

Listening to "MOTHER" now ::squee::

I'm so behind, look at everything I have yet to listen to XD I guess I'm still stuck on songs like "Big Brother."

Does anyone know the correct track order of the Paprika soundtrack? Seems to be a huge confusion, Amazon and cdjapan doesn't even have the same setlist :P
