If Mana and Kozi (I am limiting to them since they founded MM) could each remake a song from Malice Mizer, which would you like for them to do?

I would like Moi dix Mois to do Nps Ngs. I really like the guitars in Neo Pessimist, and it kind of reminded me of N-Type.

I think I'd like Kozi to Gardenia. I think he could do a really good job with it.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

i'd like Mana to properly record all the Malice Mizer demo songs, like Lafflesia and Sadness. aside from that, Speed of Desperate, S-Conscious and No Pains No Gains. i was going to say Garnet too, but i think that's fine as it is, as with some other Malice Mizer songs. oh, and the Matenrou demos! i love those, they would definitely fit on a Moi dix Mois album.

don't have much to say about Kozi, a studio version of his Color Me Blood Red cover though would be cool though.

Any remix by Mana would be bad, his MDM remixes were also bad, so yeah... (except for the new band version of Forbidden, that one's fckng awesome)

As for Közi, a new version of colour me blood red would be nice, with some modern sounds because the old one aged horibly :P

disagree... imo the remixes sound more complete and they make the originals sound like demos. i think the whole of Dix Infernal sounds like a demo album, actually, the songs have more potential (shown in the remixes.)

I know this thread is about MM pieces, but I think a Kozi remake of a MDM song like metaphysical could be seriously awesome. MDM's style is quite defined so it'd be nice to see kozi to break it a little.

A remake of a song from bara no seido with more solo-kozi flavor would be really cool as well - something like hakai no hate.

As for MDM, I'd like a remake to be from the tetsu-era. I was actually thinking of Eegee but it's already been done in gackt/klaha. A totally MDM-fied version of "baroque" would be nice. (But think of eegee like deflower+xanadu!)

To me they sound overdone and just not as good as the old ones.
Matter of taste really ;p

I would really love it if Kozi re-did all the songs he wrote on Merveilles and Voyage in his solo style rather than MM style.

I've always been puzzled by why his solo work is my favorite while the stuff he wrote in MM was my least favorite. I have to wonder what those songs might have sounded like if he had complete creative control over them and they didn't have to be put through the MM filter.

I like the idea of MDM doing a heavier version of NPS NGS too.

I don't think I like any of these ideas, or the idea of them remaking any of the songs. I enjoyed all the remakes they did do while they were together, but I really don't think any of their songs are crying out to be rerecorded or changed in any way. I feel like they never released anything without it being perfectly complete in its own way.

Even the demos are better off as demos than as Hi-Fi, rewritten, sang by someone else, remakes. I think everything that they remade with Gackt, like Ma Cherie, was better with Tetsu even though it's alright with Gackt too.

I don't feel like Közi put things through a Malice Mizer "filter". His songs like Color Me Blood Red and ILLUMINATI are pretty similar to what he's doing with his solo career, and things like Gekka and Ju te veux (well, and ILLUMINATI too) have that circus-y, twisted vibe that's very much like him. I think Malice Mizer was more of a venue for him to experiment with broader themes sometimes rather that as a filter than inhibited him. Songs like Chikasui miyaku no meiro are not his normal style at all, but it's still a song that I feel only he could have made and you can sense that he really was passionate about writing it--it's not like he was forced into making something he didn't want to. It was more like he had a chance to do something new for him.

I think Moi dix Mois has had less consistent recording and composition quality, so I like to see Moi dix Mois' older songs get tweaked a bit and I'd like to see Beyond the Gate basically get completely rerecorded XD. But Malice Mizer is perfectly fine how it is IMO.

Yeah, actually I should have said "except Illuminati" because that one's different. And I didn't include Color Me Blood Red or anything on Memoire or Bara no Seidou.

it's not like he was forced into making something he didn't want to. It was more like he had a chance to do something new for him.

I don't think he was forced to do anything, but I think that when you write songs with a band, you often have to incorporate some of their ideas into your songs and it might change it a little bit from what you originally wrote. I recall them talking about this in an interview - how, though one person might have technically composed the song, pretty much everyone else had some input on the final product.

I'm just saying that I'd be interested in what those songs might have sounded like without any of that input, because yes, those songs on Merveilles in particular are noticeably Kozi-esque.

Add Beast of Blood to Moi dix Mois' list.
Stole the only one I would really want to hear :P Also Nps Ngs I would like to hear in MDM style.

I never really listened to Kozi's solo music, I've tried it but at the time it wasn't my cup of tea. I should give it another chance since my tastes in music has changed since then. So I can't really comment on Kozi redoing anything.

Anyway, I only really like Bara no Seidou and would hate to see Mana do any remakes because imo MDM's music just sounds and feels cheap. ::meev:: I like it but it just sounds cheap and fake and Mana getting into Bara no Seidou just seems kind of scary. But who knows, maybe something cool would come out of it? I wouldn't mind Kozi going into it since I don't really know his solo work, it'd be a pretty big surprise to see what he does.

I guess also MDM or Kozi doing Syunikiss since that's like the only Gackt song that I really really like. Just seriously get rid of that pause at 2:15 - 3:00, I hate that part :|

::zetsubou::

BoB is definitely a Klaha song--I don't think Seth or Juka could pull it off. And without the BoB costumes?? It would make me sad to see Moi dix Mois play it.

I guess I have nothing more to contribute to this thread, so I'll just let you guys carry on after this ::meev::

But I think Malice Mizer's discography is sacred. It shouldn't be tampered with. Or at least don't fix what ain't broke ::foot::

I'm not suggesting they have to completely re-arrange all the music and whatnot. I'm just saying that, if you had the final say of a song they were going to cover, what would you want it to be?

K and Seth both screaming GET DOWN LIMITLESS NIGHT could be pretty epic

it woudl be nice if they just did it live sometimes, not neccesarily record it as an album track or something. Gensou Rakuen would be a very nice option btw, i HATE how teh drums are mixed in that one. A rerecording with Mana's current mixing and mastering skills would be awesome.

freeze me of course

that is the one song above all others that needs a quality recording and it has an old school sound which would be refreshing coming from mana and co. even if they changed it to fit their style

but they would need tetsu on vocals. no one else could do it. i mean that

m10m should cover gensou rakuen. i think it would really fit their style and it could be better than the original like demanufacturer said

LEM: that pause is EPIC!! it might just be gay bird noises and wind but precedes probably the best guitar solo (not that there were many) of all MM songs.

Yeah, I love that pause just because of how it ends with the screaming dueling guitars.

I say Kozi and Tetsu make a remake of Sadness and Shojo no Hitomi.

Kozi alone makes a remake of Itsuwari no Musetté.

Gackt makes a remake of Le Ciel or Regret.

And Mana makes a remake of Au Revoir or Premier Amour or even Tsuioku no Kakera.
