I found this on Malice Aftermath a couple of years back and remembered it again recently. Apparently it's an interview someone posted on a Japanese BBS where MM talk about Gackt leaving the band (post#42-48 ). I don't know if you can tell what magazine or other source it was taken from but if it's authentic I thought it would be interesting to hear MM's side of the story.

Many thanks!

[Edit] Since it has been translated I changed the title of the thread! :)

this is very interesting. I second this request. So far i only know what gackt had to say in some interviews and in jihaku...so if the other members actually said something about this, i am very interested as well. :)

Speaking of jihaku, does anyone have a link to the translated internet version?

Gackt was obviously bitter about the whole thing.
"Isn't it good enough that we put out a CD? We're selling copies, at least…"

At those words, I got angry.

"Don't joke around! Don't make fun of the fans!"
lol, propaganda much? Hypocrisy much (he was just lamenting about how people spread rumors)?

I don't think Gackt was wrong in going his own direction, but I think it's obvious that his account is a very colored, one-sided story.

I'm inclined to think that what happened was he increasingly worked in his own direction without regarding the other member's wishes/intentions, and conflict naturally followed. He was made for a solo career because he's too self-interested to work well with the others in the group. I remember in an interview about Merveilles he was talking about how disappointed he was with the end product because, to paraphrase, "nobody was listening to me!". I think he wanted to control their direction, rightly or wrongly, and the other members weren't cool with that.

I'd like to hear what everyone else has to say.

The chapter on moon is interesting, too. Some of the best lines in the book come from that chapter. :)

So, is anyone going to oblige us with what's in the article Geisha linked to? XD Even a summary or some key points....?

I have a summary and as far as I can tell it's accurate but I'd still like a full translation. This is a delicate subject and there has been so much speculation, I think we shouldn't lose the finer points. :)

Here, here! I agree. This sounds like a hell of an interesting article, and seeing as how I have tons of stuff yet nothing to do, I'd like to read it. XD If no one can get to it by thursday, I'll print it out and hassle my japanese teacher to tell me what the really significant stuff says and report back. ;D

from my point of view that's a terrible interpretation, I don't want to start any conflict, but we all know Mana (and just for the record Mana is always the one who leads the directions of his bands, he fired Tetsu, and there's no need to talk about M10M members rotation xDDDD) didn't want Gackt working as a composer, and Gackt wanted the band as a major international massive band and the rest of the members didn't want that, so it was a conflict of interests, that's all....

....by the way I don't think that gackt's idea was bad at all, (in fact, malice mizer as an overseas band *0* that would have been more than cool, they had so much potential) but when your partners don't want the same as you what else can you do besides say bye and good look....I don't blame any member, including Gackt, they all had their reasons....

There's no evidence to support any of these statements. :| In fact, Gackt composed 2 songs for MM (Regret and Le Ciel) and wrote most of their lyrics, and in the case of Tetsu and M10M the available evidence suggests that they parted on good terms.

So, does nobody want to translate this interview? Considering the amount of speculation and rumour mongering this issue has caused over the years (and is apparently still causing), I would have thought there'd me more interest.

Probably translating the entire thing is pretty tedious, I'll give it a start from post 43 then, maybe that will prompt more translations by parts afterwards.

--What happened between Gackt and the 4 members here?
Mana - Having done with the merveilles concept, a member meeting is held to decide on what's up next. A certain article mentioned of how he said "let's continue without taking a break", but we've never heard that, nor did we say "we want to rest". In reality, we needed time to think and so we decided to set aside a perod of time to replenish our strength after some discussions.
During these type of conversations, differences in opinions occur between him and the other 4 members, and he didn't come to the meetings anymore...

--Is that just a conflict concerning only the concept?
Mana - No, it's about the direction we are heading towards and how we are to become as humans.

--It's not about being musicans or artists?
Mana - Malice Mizer is a 5 person group, it's a form created by 5 members. The thing is, even if one has got a brillant artist personality, it's difficult to create something as a cooperative group bound by fate with just that personality alone.

Oh wow............yeah, someone really has to get started on this. Mana just totally pwnd gackt's entry in jihaku into deep space. This is brillant. If I wasn't so low level in Japanese right now, I'd totally get to work on this whole thing this weekend since it's a holiday, but....I suck right now, so I can't. :|

Wow. I really, really wanna read this whole thing, and it MUST be posted on the main site when done. So there's your incentive kids- translate it an more likely than not, flowers will post it.... ::shifty::
