Hat-tip to Faith for finding this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-D-5CG6fdk

Kaya appears on some lame Japanese variety show (which I realize is redundant) and they ask him to do a "food report". Which is to say, he eats a mystery food and then sings about it in stereotypical VK language, and the show's regular panelists have to guess what it was ::meev::

He's been invited back btw. So he'll appear a second time.

I think when you agree to be on one of these food tasting shows, you're contractually obligated to act like taking that first bite is a moment of spiritual healing and cleansing. Kaya's lyrics are actually kind of cool though :) I wouldn't have been able to guess, but the concept is kind of neat!

I'd like to see an American adaptation where Taylor Swift or Bruno Mars or whoever is popular tries to express Vichyssoise or something through song.

I've never had eel, but it does look appetising here, or maybe that is just Kaya.

I'm glad someone else finds eels cute, when I was younger we lived at a place with a jetty and if you dangled your feet in the water eels would swim around them.

Actually not long after we moved from there a guy was eaten by sharks after jumping off his jetty, I guess that is Australia for you.

This is entirely in line with my preconceived notions of Australia

Haha, yeah pretty much... if it isn't sharks in lakes, it is snakes in the grass or drop bears in the trees.

For the (questionable) benefit of all:

Question 1: What's your favorite word?
Answer 1: "Rose"

Q2: What's your birthplace?
A2: Shikoku, Tokushima-ken

Q2.5: Dance for us
A2.5: He demonstrates "women's dancing" and "men's dancing" ::meev::

Q3: What's your gender? Are you male or female? :|
A3: Kaya is Kaya.

Mystery food: Monjayaki

oh and spiders.

Isn't that one of those edible spiders?
Man though, those drop bears are scarrrry stuff.
I know a New Yorker who got eaten by one once.

Speaking of...have you seen this?

Oh, and Kaya, yes. That was fun.
The dance he showed was the awaodori, which is a obon dance particular to where he's from.
Tokushima or wherever that place nothing can kill you is.
So it loses to Australia in terms of sheer TERROR.

Kaya did another food report where they asked Kaya's favorite word (rose), where he was born (Tokushima from Shikoku), how women dance verses men in the Awa Odori Festival in Tokushima, and what his gender is (Kaya is Kaya)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEpT7WGJcBs

This time, he is eating monjayaki, which I am simply stunned that he can eat with a fork. They said he eats pretty much everything with a fork and knife, which one of the contestants calls BS on because he ate eel last time with chopsticks.

He also eats it when it's super hot and burns his tongue and someone says, "Oh, there's the man in him coming out."

um so it continues...wth is up with the other guy?
I mean, when the person next to Kaya makes him look completely normal in his ball gown and pink apron it's indicative of something.

ps kinpira gobou is really good. Kinpira renkon is better though.
