When he decided to check out the Japan Expo in plain clothes (to the horror of security) he was recognised immediately as well.
really? i didn't know that... what was he wearing?

Obviously, I don't know what he (or his interpreter) said to them but going by what happened in the shop it doesn't sound like he was asking them to make sure that there were fans waiting for him - quite the opposite. Poor Mana - maybe he was being naive or he didn't make it clear enough but I'm pretty sure that he didn't expect them to tell everybody in the shop that he was on his way.amasanin wrote:Funny thing is, sounds like the only reason he announced it to the store in advance was so that they would make sure no people were there... ehehe -___-;;;
Exactly!amasanin wrote:But poor Mana wanted to go at 5pm when shops tend to close. He would have been better off not having said anything.
I don't know exactly but probably someting very similar to what he was wearing at Neotokyo – it seems to be his 'incognito' uniform.Eresjkigal wrote:When he decided to check out the Japan Expo in plain clothes (to the horror of security) he was recognised immediately as well.

Very true! Maybe it just feels really unremarkable and dressed down to him because he is so used to being *very* dressed up all the time?amasanin wrote:How you expect to be a Japanese transvetite in a hat and sunglasses indoors and not merit attention is still beyond me haha...

Unshaved? Blasphemy! The glory of Mana-sama is impervious to a five-o'clock shadow!Geisha wrote:Would he turn up at an official autograph event without makeup, unshaved (!) and in plain clothes?
Yes I know I meant it like in "The *only* thing that incognito costume is good for from now on, is that people can't look into his(with their Japanese shape/lack of eyelashes ánd read his emotions) eyes. So, the sunglasses are the only things which have *some* effect.Eresjkigal wrote:not really, in some pics you can see his "real" eyes if you take a good look.
That incognito uniform is becoming somewhat iconic, isn't it? Mana - JRock's answer to Greta Garbo!Pessimiste wrote:I meant it like in "The *only* thing that incognito costume is good for from now on, is that people can't look into his(with their Japanese shape/lack of eyelashes ánd read his emotions) eyes. Yes - strange that so many people seem to think of him as arrogant.Pessimiste wrote:Also, yes! Mana indeed isn't exactly full of himself
He said that (at the Japan Expo event) he thought nobody would want to shake hands with him and that he would be left all alone ^^
It's because he's quiet, a perfectionist, doesn't like people, and has an outwardly cold emotional face--while doing what he does extremely well. -__- I'm much the same, and people who don't know me well think I'm arrogant. It's a shame they can't differentiate between being uncomfortable and trying to hide it (through being cold and not speaking) from being full of myself. I hate confronted about my artisitc ability by people, no matter how much they want to praise me, so I shy away from the subject and brush off the compliments. I guess it's easy to understand how people would percieve that as arrogant, but... well. It's not very fair. :?Geisha wrote:Yes - strange that so many people seem to think of him as arrogant.Pessimiste wrote:Also, yes! Mana indeed isn't exactly full of himself

Yes - ironic, isn't it?navate wrote:It's a shame they can't differentiate between being uncomfortable and trying to hide it (through being cold and not speaking) from being full of myself.
It must be difficult trying to assert yourself in a competitive business such as the music industry when you are a shy person. The fact that he doesn't speak probably invites misunderstandings as well. Sure, he gives interviews to magazines but seeing something in writing isn't the same as hearing and seeing him actually say it. The internet, where flame wars can erupt from a perfectly innocent post that gets misinterpreted, is a good example of that.Pessimiste wrote:I must admit that I sometimes get that feeling of Mana having an enormous ego aswell...^^; I know he isn't like that..but those things he does...like him appearing twice in one picture, ignoring Kazuno during interviews, not laughing when people make jokes when talking to him etc. (Him always sitting on a throne while Juka and Kazuno have to stand next to him, yes he's the band leader..but still....) doesn't help very much...
