My big question: what about fanfiction?

I've been wondering about this for a while... Is it ok to post some of my Mana/Malice Mizer/etc fanfiction? I mean, if you tell me not to post "yaoi", I won't , but would a PG13 fic for instance be allowed? I'm really clueless about this. I wonder why I haven't seen any...

It's honestly nothing against your personal writing ability, but I know myself and a few others find them to be devoid of originality and poorly written in general. I'll go a step further and say that I can't stand any form of fanfiction, whether it be jrock, star trek, or any other thing.

My favourite is "Misery" by Amalthea but I don't really know if it's finished and it seems she changed her email =/

I'm not implying that you write poorly in any language at all; that is not my intent and it would be very insensitive of me to do so. I simply feel that good writers can suddenly turn sub-par by succumbing to writing for stock characters who are not born from their own creativity; filling the fanfic with melodrama and unfunny jokes and situations based on fans' oversexualized views of these characters (even if they're not explicit). I would much rather read something that contains the author's entire essence as opposed to sticking a band in there.

Ehh... fanfiction generally just isn't what we do here. Unless you have something really amazing that everyone must see, I'd advise you to think carefully before posting. Generally the more "dramatic" it is, the less appropriate for this forum it is. We have plenty of lighthearted fan-material (including some comics of my own) and that's one thing, but I definitely don't want to see "Ash and Mana's Yaoi Suicide Pact" or the like. Just use your good judgement and take a look at things that have been successfully posted in the past.

Oh, and yaoi (or any other explicit material) is not allowed at all, per the decency rules.

I think if you really wanted to post it, don't give it it's own thread, just make a general fanfiction one, or ressurect the old one. Then if anyone wants to read it, they can...if not, then oh well.

But on another note, I don't mind the parody stuff like Midori's (those were great, btw, dear. ^.^) Otherwise, I cringe a little at drama fanfic starring <insert jrock band here>. I wish you the best of luck in all writing endeavours, though!

Instead of posting whole stories directly on to the board, we should just dredge back up the old thread and whoever started the thread can keep a running list of links to particular fics as people post them, and it can be bumped when someone's updated their site or whatever. That way, you can still post your story without clogging up the thread, and the one thread itself can just be ignored by those who'd rather not read them.

I don't mind fanfiction, I mean, I post at Y! gallery which is an art gallery for Yaoi artists, I have never written any fanfiction (never will) and come to think about it yaoi FANART either.

-Scape- is not the place for it Fanfiction I don't mind as I have said, but fanfiction about music artists, that is going waaay too far, and not to be mean. But people who make yaoi fanfics about Juka, Kaya, Mana, Gackt etc, (Miyavi too -_-'') is really, and I mean REALLY nuts in the head Sorry ^^ I have never came across any Jmusic fanfiction, and I hope not to. Especially about my favourite artists ...and Mana XD. If I see any fanfiction like that here, then that would make -Scape- look really bad, and icky.

P.s I dunno what Priss has been doing, look at certain fanfics *tut tut*
