exactly XD tetsu was just trying to fool us (with the satanic metal thing)...actually this new album has even more slow songs than the preview ones. It seems that Tetsu has already found two new guys to replace the ones who left the band!! Masaru -Bass and Oofuruton - drums :)

Thanks for the news! I don't know quite what to think about the death metal announcement, haha. I guess I'm relieved it's not, but I thought it would've been interesting to hear. ^^

Anyway, I'm glad nil are still at it and will be getting ahold of Excalibur as soon as I can.

well, according to Excalibur booklet...

"all songs written, arranged & produced by Tetsu Takano"

so... yay for Tetsu !! i don't have all nil's cds, but since it is similar sounding to the others, i can conclude that Tetsu takes a major role in nil songs... damn! it is almost his solo project...

ps: i don't want to sound rude, but the name of the band is 'nil' not 'Nil'... 'Nil' is a VK band, btw.

that was probably one of the reasons why the rest quit, i think...

(there are like 3 nil's around, if not more, the change of case doesn't really help at all!)

He repeated the death metal thing quite a few times during some lives. He was quite specific with the details about tracks and such. I guess he was joking around, but in light of Moro and Kashimoto leaving nil during the recording of this album who knows if some 'metal' songs were scrapped and the original intent of the album was lost and became a tetsu ablum.

It's the same old nil. Definitely not the first choice I'd have to introduce nil to anyone. That would choice would have to be 12 inplosion or their first mini album.

The other members probably left cause it was always tetsu's show, although they all had equal writing credits and probably did contribute a good amount before the recent album it was still his primarily his work.

The disbandment letter said the other 2 members were overworked. The new album is a little more pop than their previous work which makes me believe Moro and Kashi didn't enjoy making it. It was more pop rock than hippie/earthy rock, which was an undertone that was seen from time to time.

nil could easily be a major band with more exposure but tetsu or afro skull management choose not to. Excalibur was much more major friendly than their previous work. So maybe the other two thought it was leading to a more 'sell-out' type of band. I was annoyed that most of the songs on the new album average out to be a little over 4 minutes. Perfect nuggets of pop magic.

There always seems to be indie bands out there that do it for the music and not to become major and to not put out as many albums as they can. So like many bands, the direction of the band led to the breakup, not really tetsu's over creativity which I find good and bad at times. It's great because he's practically a quality solo artist, though bad because he wants to be in a band where he has to give up some of the control. All speculation on my part.

Moro is already apart of a new indies band, The High Streets, with former members of Wino.
Kashimoto's whereabouts are unknown as of now.

 Tetsu IS nil!
And you're not sounding rude. I'm the first one that twitches when sees "Hide" instead of "hide". Tiny Important details!!!
:D Thanks for pointing it out. :D

i think the same...although Excalibur is a good album, 12inplosion is much better

Moro's new band hasn't released anything yet. Although if Wino's past output is any sign, The High Streets will be releasing work in no time. They're playing their first lives sometime this month and they might've happened already...

And yes, I saw the offer for the nil Stroke Swing Shout fanclub only cd. It was very briefly offered on their front page in December. But as you said it is fanclub only so it's impossible to get if your an international fan. I've yet to see it on yahoo japan auctions.

The tracklist on SSS is less than stellar, especially considering what songs they performed from the show it came from. I read that the live take of Hate Beat! on the drop single is the same one from the SSS fanclub cd. It seems like they wanted all the rock songs. Most of the other ballady tracks were cut~~ (ai wa) mirror ball and ame to muchi must be awesome to hear live.

Hopefully they'll come out with an official dvd/cd release live from the Discovery Excalibur tour. I think i read in tetsu's diary that he wouldn't mind a dvd release one of these days.... Unless he was referring to the PV dvd which already happened.
