My mom was so horrified as a child at what was done to snails before they were cooked that she swore there would be no snails ever on the family table, and there never were. And after she told us her reasons, I must say we were never tempted to try any at a restaurant or anywhere else.

Frogs'legs are good though.

It can't be much more horrifying than what's done to them after they're cooked. ::bleh::

Haha, all these comments about snails are making me smile :D

I'm not sure I could ever eat a snail, only because I've kept them as pets. I of course don't see anything wrong with it, it's just a personal thing of mine xD

And snails are fascinating~ I poked around at them so much when I was younger that I started keeping them as pets. They're really easy to keep, they just eat lettuce, carrots, zucchini...really almost any fruit or vegetable xD They poop a lot though o.O And not to get too graphic but their, uh, poo changes color according to what they eat.

I actually used to want to be a malacologist. Since then I've turned more towards screenwriting/writing in general (I have a lot of different interests). Not to mention living in the city doesn't help with finding snails....BUT recently my neighbor who has a garden had a snail infestation, so I got to go over there and grab some.

So I am now the proud 'owner' of 8 pet snails xD A yes one is named Gary. But to be honest all the snails are the same species and around the same size so they all look very similar. So in order to tell the different between them I put a tiny dot of different colored nail polish on each of their shells. So the one with the purple dot is Gary, the one with the red dot Kamijo (I'm such a dork), etc etc.

Wow, I wrote a lot there just now.

I want a pet snail xDD

The last time I saw a snail was back in college, it was early morning and I was heading to my first class. On the pavement I saw the biggest snail I had ever seen. I wanted to keep it haha! But I wouldn't have anything to keep him in so I moved him off the pavement and into the bushes he was heading towards. I didn't want anyone to step on him :(

Also a little bit unrelated-ish...

But my boyfriend said once during one of his classes at his University he saw a mantis in the window. He just got up in the middle of the class and went outside to catch it and when he came back in everyone was staring at him LOL! He kept it and took it home over break. During the break it suddenly died on him but he had noticed it left a little egg sack in the aquarium. He disregarded it until one morning when he saw these little green flakes on a curtain.

Then he realized that the egg had hatched and the whole house was full of thousands of baby mantises!! His parents where pissed LOLOL. He said they all died :|

Out of curiosity, what is done to them?

They are made to fast for 5 or 6 days so that their intestine will be clean, then left to disgorge themselves using rock salt, which will make them issue a lot of foam, so you'll have to wash them several times in the process.

Bon appétit! *Grrr*

The rock salt part...... :( Ehhhhhh that's upsetting. Although I have always wondered what is done to snails in terms of preparation before eating them because they're definitely not the kind of thing you want to eat unprepared....o.o

Anyway!

Lem:

That's reeeeeeeally cool (not the dying part, ha, but that he found a mantis and all). I can't believe it laid eggs! I wonder why they died, though D: Maybe they couldn't find anything to eat. I'm not even sure what mantises eat, haha ^^

Mantises all over my house would be like a nightmare. ::erm::

I'm not afraid of spiders, snakes, rats, or anything of the sort. But praying mantises really freak me out. Especially babies.

It's not that I'm afraid of the insect itself, it's the infestation aspect that creeps me out.

I want an orchid mantis, and an orchid to put it on. And then an expensive camera.

I hadn't seen that subject before.

Mine is just my nickname in real life. I use it more often than my real first name ^^

My second Dad called me once like that and I kept it. Not because I'm really short  But it's a diminutive of my first name.
In fact, a few time before his death, we had made a foolish dream to found a band together. "Tiny" was the stage name that we had chosen for me.

I chose Lempicka because of the perfume Lolita Lempicka and because I thought it sounded nice ^^
my first internet name was "yun yun" because of fruits basket, but there were too many people with the same name and it didn't really feel like "me"... I didn't know yun from here at the time, and now she's one of my best friends xD it would be weird if I had kept that old name.

I started using "Lempicka" maybe 5 years ago so it really feels like a second name for me now ^^

So far I went from VampiricDrucilla666 (during my pre-teen vampire obsessed phase back in the days when vampires were not sparkling yet) to Riona-Chan which I kept for about 3-4 year and then went with Pierrot~Hime. Scape was actually the first forum I started to use the nickname Pierrot~Hime.

I can remember that I was a bit tired of the name Riona-Chan which came from my self designed want to be alter ego Riona.
(Well that and my friends calling my Riona or Rii which they still do)
After the whole "everyone that dares to use chan/san/kun/sama is a weeaboo" trend started and seeing more and more people use it as well I decided it was time for a new nickname.

That was around the time I got bored of lurking here and was creating a account for the second time. I thought I might as well think of a nickname that has a secret yet obvious connection to my favorite artist Közi. I felt I wanted to do something with the word Pierrot and well to be honest I can't remember how I connect Hime, or translated from Japanese ' princess', to it.

I then started changing Riona-Chan to Pierrot~Hime everywhere online were I was still active and well there you have it.
Though I must say since a few weeks I've came up with Pierrorii for my new YT account so I guess I'm kind of sticking in the same street.

Shelly Webster = One of the characters from "The Crow". She was Eric Draven's fiancée.

Amazing history that had Brandon Lee with main character.

Chouko means 'butterfly child', and since Kami was my favorite Malice Mizer member at the time, I went with that. >>; Incredibly dorky, I know.
